The voting is over! By its results, the winner of the Cycle 47 is Wide Lens by Groudon ex. Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. And we're moving forward!

Cycle Forty Eight - Dracozolt
:ss/dracozolt:

Dracozolt is infamous for its signature move - Bolt Beak, shared only by Arctozolt. This move allows Dracozolt to dish out a crazy amount of damage on anything not resistant to it and not faster than the weird fossil. The Crown Tundra blessed Dracozolt with a Sand Rush ability, which solves its Speed issue and, with a given sand support, turns it into a scary breaker or even cleaner; the Sand Rush mixed set happens to be the only one Dracozolt uses now. This Pokemon is challenging to invent a new set for, but is just as funny to toy with! Show us what you guys got!

The deadline is Saturday 3rd of April. Good luck!

Mbeam Pherb Zolt

Dracozolt @ Power Herb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Meteor Beam
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Thunderbolt / Rising Voltage
- Fire Blast / Earth Power

A fully special Zolt here aiming to benefit from access to Meteor Beam, to put it at +1 under Sand. The Speed EVs make it outspeed Scarf 110s (i.e. Latios & Kartana), of which there are a few that Zolt can just KO. Dragon move is choice between the power of Draco and the consistency of Pulse. Electric move is normally Tbolt; however if you are running Koko and you think you can keep terrain up until this comes in then Rising Voltage could be an option. Fire Blast or Earth Power are your choice of coverage move.

salac berry + charge

:ss/dracozolt:
Dracozolt @ Salac Berry
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Charge
- Bolt Beak
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast

set is pretty self explanatory; you charge and power up dracozolts bolt beak in the process and it also gives dracozolt a +1 in its spdef. in case sand runs out and it is at low health, dracozolt can make use of the salac berry to get a +1 in its speed, so it stays decently fast outside of sand. its other attacks are its stab draco meteor and its coverage in fire blast.

Blunder Policy
1617130693476.png

1617130750202.png

Dracozolt @ Blunder Policy
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 236 Atk / 20 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Draco Meteor

Blunder Policy tries to take advantage of the inconstancy of Hustle, raising speed by 2 stages if any move miss.
Without the boost of Life Orb EVs go to Atk and only 20 EVs go to SpA, enough for 2KO 252/176+ Ferrothorn with fire Blast. (Fire Fang is not 1KO anyway).
This is a single shot, but it gives you the opportunity to set up at speed without relying on Sandstorm in the teambuild and taking advantage of extra damage of Hustle.
Naughty (-SpD) Nature for reasons like Aqua Jet, Sucker Punch and Grassy Glide.

Taunt Dracozolt

:ss/dracozolt:
Dracozolt @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 120 Atk / 136 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Taunt

Since Zolt's last slot is a filler move, and one that Excadrill covers too usually, I think Taunt can be more useful than Earthquake as it eases the prediction Dracozolt usually requires and can give it more opportunities to wallbreak by denying recovery moves and shutting down passive Pokemon like Blissey.

Assault Vest Dracozolt

Dracozolt @ Assault Vest
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 200 SpD / 60 Spe
Careful Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

General idea
Does your team need to block Volt Switchers? This Dracozolt may be your choice in a balanced team.
With a workable 100 base Atk, this Dracozolt is not that passive despite being a bulky tank.
Bolt Beak is the STAB with a good secondary effect towards slower threats; EdgeQuake combo is here for coverage.
Dragon Tail is here to force switches except towards Fairies: this is a good thing with hazards support.

Volt Absorb is the preferred ability because it allows to recharge Dracozolt's health.

EVs (spread) and item
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 126-150 (32.8 - 39.1%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 124-148 (32.3 - 38.6%) -- 98.2% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 242-283 (63.1 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Weather Ball (100 BP Water) vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt in Rain: 103-122 (26.8 - 31.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 SpA Blacephalon Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 93-111 (24.2 - 28.9%) -- 99.2% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 84-99 (21.9 - 25.8%) -- 1.8% chance to 4HKO
+6 0 SpA Togekiss Air Slash vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 119-141 (31 - 36.8%) -- 71.2% chance to 3HKO
+2 228 SpA Life Orb Alakazam Psychic vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 246-290 (64.2 - 75.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Nihilego Meteor Beam vs. 248 HP / 200+ SpD Assault Vest Dracozolt: 184-217 (48 - 56.6%) -- 88.3% chance to 2HKO

Team(mates) support
Hazards support is mandatory. Wish support is always appreciated to have extra ways to recharge the health lost.
In return, this Dracozolt limits Volt Switch strategies and Electric spam in general; also, it offers Dragon Tail support.

Custap Berry+Endure

:ss/dracozolt:

Dracozolt @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 120 Atk / 136 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Endure
- Fire Blast
- Draco Meteor

So the general idea of this set is you sacrifice the breaking power life orb gives you for more utility for dracozolt even outside of sand.So say you're facing something like a dragapult. That would obviously outspeed and OHKO you outside sand. However, if you endure before hand you can activate the custap berry and get a surprise kill on the dragapult. This set is meant to lure mons you can OHKO but would outspeed you. Also you can use hustle instead if you want to if you don't want to run a sand team as this set is meant to work even outside sand

Dracozolt @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Substitute
- Bolt Beak
- Fire Blast
- Draco Meteor

Sub allows it to ease predictions and setup weak pokemon are pokemon who are scared of it such as non-body press ferro, toxapex, tornadus-t, mandibuzz. Leftovers allow it to not easily be worn down by sub. Max attack is there to compensate for the lack of a life orb so that it can threaten a lot of the metagame with its bolt beak. Behind a sub it is unable to be revenge killed by garchomp, hydreigon, latios, rillaboom, kyurem, weavile and more.

sub + fire spin

:ss/dracozolt:
Dracozolt @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 216 Atk / 140 SpA / 152 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Spin
- Substitute
(thanks to talah for evs, which are for draco calcs vs lando)

Substitute + Fire Spin Dracozolt is mainly used to ease predictions while using Dracozolt. Both of its STABs having immunities often makes it difficult to make progress, and Fire Spin helps alleviate this problem by trapping something to guarantee a kill. Substitute also can help it outside of sand, making it more difficult to revenge kill and pivot around. Leftovers are used alongside Substitute to help with longevity while behind a Substitute. Dracozolt is almost always partnered with Excadrill, which it can benefit using this set by trapping and killing common shared checks like Landorus-T, Corviknight, Skarmory, and Tangrowth.

resttalk
:ss/dracozolt:
Dracozolt @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Draco Meteor
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

RestTalk allows Dracozolt to recover HP and still perform as a powerful wallbreaker it is with its STABs. A naughty nature is used to maximize its wallbreaking potential. Draco Meteor allows it to hit Ground- and Grass-types like Hippowdon, Landorus-T, and Rillaboom.

Eject Pack Dracozolt
:ss/dracozolt:

Dracozolt @ Eject Pack
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 120 Atk / 136 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake

Dracozolt can now pivot and deal massive amounts of damage with Draco Meteor.
In the sand, Dracozolt is a very threatening sweeper. Bolt Beak does double its damage + STAB if it goes first, meaning sand is an important part of the equation. Draco Meteor does a lot of damage to threats like Lando-T and allows Dracozolt to pivot out of them. Fire Blast hits Ferrothorn and other Grass-types, and Earthquake hits Heatran hard.

Dracozolt @ Wide Lens
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 108 HP / 252 Atk / 148 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

Wide Lens Hustle Dracozolt

Hustle boosts Dracozolt’s attack to the equivalent of a Choice Band, turning it into a slow but incredibly powerful breaker. Wide Lens nicely offsets the drop in accuracy, giving 100% accurate moves an accuracy of 88% after Hustle, making Dracozolt reasonably reliable. The above spread aims to maximise Dracozolt’s breaking power while giving it enough speed to creep standard Heatran. The rest of the EVs are put into HP to significantly improve Dracozolt’s bulk. Anything not immune to Electric that isn’t Ferrothorn or Tangrowth gets 2HKOed by Bolt Beak, and the rest of the moves are here to cover for anything that might live Bolt Beak. Dragon Claw is used over Draco Meteor since Hustle makes it stronger most of the time anyway, and can hit things like Garchomp or weakened Lando-T, Earthquake to OHKO most Electric types, and Fire Fang to 2HKO Ferrothorn. The idea of this Dracozolt set is to use pivots to bring it in safely against walls like Slowking, Slowbro, Toxapex, Blissey or Corvinknight and then rip holes in the opponent‘s team.
Calcs:
252+ Atk Hustle Dracozolt Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 232-276 (65.9 - 78.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Hustle Dracozolt Bolt Beak (170 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 363-427 (94 - 110.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Hustle Dracozolt Bolt Beak (170 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 334-394 (84.7 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
