:choice band:
I've used this set frequently, it's definitely the highest reward set of the bunch. I would have slashed zen headbutt in the trick slot, as it is a good midground vs bulky grounds / waters / dragons and few pokemon truly wall this set anyway.

Cycle Fifty One - Melmetal
:ss/melmetal:
Our next subject is Melmetal, a strong wallbreaker and defensive prescence in OU due to its astronomical Stats, powerful stab in Double Iron Bash, and colorful movepool, featuring many useful coverage and utility options .it is able to beat much of the tier one on one, and is an effective check to pokemon such as Tapu Lele and Weavile.

The deadline is August 23rd. Good luck!

IRON PRESS IS THE PAST LOL LETS GET ACIDIC
:ss/melmetal:
Melmetal @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Def / 80 SpD / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acid Armor
- Body Press
- Double Iron Bash
- Earthquake

This set can act as a wincon on fat builds while having better defensive utility than some other melm sets as well as still being offensively potent. It also 1v1s stuff like exca which it really shoudn't, while easily having a winning mu vs eq ddnite. The coverage can likely change depending on team but i think this is the best. Eq is picked coz all tp hits that eq doesn't are skarm and corv, both of which fail to check this bar id skarm. Eq hits tran for an ohko while also smacking pex harder.

80 hp allows me to acid armour on eq from exca, live the next and ohko it, also works if exca clicks sd.
max attack coz :wynaut:
80 spdef with 80 hp lives magma from spdef tran after rocks and eq ofc ohkos
12 speed for pex
rest dumped into phys def for stronger presses, i coudn't find a benchmark for extra in any other stat, if you can then that 84 phys def can be used better.

Have a good day everyone :blobwizard:

Now 100% more demonic
I apologise if this is too similar to the other sets, but I was really struggling to think of anything else other than the 5 sets already banned or taken:
Fast Band
:ss/melmetal:
Melmetal @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 40 HP / 240 Atk / 228 Spe
Jolly
Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Superpower
- Thunder Punch
- Earthquake

This now fairly common spread allows Choice Band Melmetal to outspeed Corviknight and uninvested Skarmory, and you still 2HKO them with Thunder Punch, as well as a few other things that might try to creep you like specially defensive Tyranitar and Calm Mind Clefable, and utility Dragonite. The HP serves the same purpose as on Protective Pads sets: surviving two Earthquakes from Hippowdon from full, and the Attack is a dump.

Banned deucer.
occa berry volcarona / volcanion lure

:ss/melmetal:
Melmetal @ Occa Berry
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 244 SpD / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

- Rock Slide

this set lures in volcanion and volcarona and can also help against heatran, with surviving one attack and OHKOing heatran with earthquake and volcarona with rock slide. it can also deal massive damage against volcanion with earthquake. the occy berry allows melmetal to take a fire blast from choice specs volcanion after stealth rock damage and it can also take a magma storm by offensive heatran pretty comfortably. this spread also allows to take a +2 offensive volcarona flamethrower in a pinch, but rock slide is guaranteed OHKO on this fire bug.

CHESTO-REST MELMETAL

Melmetal @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 96 HP / 160 Atk / 60 Def / 80 SpD / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Earthquake
- Toxic
-
Rest
LOOK HOW CHONKY THIS SPRITE IS
this set aims at circumventing one of melmetal's fatal flaws, its limited longevity. melmetal is enjoying high usage atm for its ability to sponge hits from and ohko back many powerful threats, so it's prone to getting chipped throughout a game. this set is used primarily to force progress vs ground types with toxic and bash, much like the protox set. without pads, it's really not worth it to run tpunch/superpower and thus it isn't worth running max atk. instead, this spread is very specific and allows melmetal to 1v1 iron defense magnezone from full hp because eq 3hkos zone through progressive iron defense boosts and leftovers, while living +4 body press from 252+ magnezone. living this combination, it may find a place to click rest and be full again to be annoying and basically wasting magnezone's efforts. another key interaction is surviving magma storm from univested heatran after rocks and obviously koing with eq. again, the lost health can be replenished against slower threats via rest + chesto berry. speed is for hippowdon and rest in atk with adamant to maximise damage.

:magnezone:
+4 252+ Def Magnezone Body Press vs. 96 HP / 60 Def Melmetal: 368-434 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
160+ Atk Melmetal Earthquake vs. +2 80 HP / 252+ Def Magnezone: 160-192 (53.1 - 63.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
160+ Atk Melmetal Earthquake vs. +4 80 HP / 252+ Def Magnezone: 108-128 (35.8 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
160+ Atk Melmetal Earthquake vs. +6 80 HP / 252+ Def Magnezone: 84-100 (27.9 - 33.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO (not needed because zone is confidend to ohko at +4, but even if it tries the total amount of damage is a minimum of 116.8% which is more than 100% + 2 rounds of leftovers)

:heatran:
0 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 96 HP / 80 SpD Melmetal: 342-404 (78.6 - 92.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and trapping damage
160+ Atk Melmetal Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 460-544 (119.1 - 140.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

bonus calc: :weavile:
+2 252+ Atk Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 96 HP / 60 Def Melmetal: 229-271 (52.6 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
always lives knock into knock from jolly and has decent chances to do so against adamant (remember, knock loses power after it knocks the item off). if melly already used the berry, then it just comfortably takes two after rocks even from adamant.

Rock Tomb Melmetal

:ss/melmetal:

Melmetal @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Tomb
- Double Iron Bash
- Thunder Punch
- Superpower

Rock Tomb gives Melmetal coverage against Volcarona, Volcanion, and the rare Moltres, but perhaps more importantly it slows down switch-ins. Any opposing mon with speed less than or equal to 249 is outsped by Melmetal after being hit with Rock Tomb. Melmetal can proceed to surprise the opponent by not being choiced (no one is gonna look at the Rock Tomb damage and say hm yeah thats not banded since no one knows what damage to expect) and smacking them with whatever. Fat Lando, defensive Zapdos, Heatran not running max speed, Corviknight, all outsped. A comparatively faster Melmetal is also deadly because of DiB's high flinch chance.

Thunder Punch is preferred to beat Corviknight more easily, while Superpower is necessary to threaten Ferrothorn and destroy Heatran. Adamant > Jolly for the extra power, unless you really want the jump on neutral nature max speed Rillaboom and Heatran. Plenty of items are viable here; I prefer Leftovers but Protective Pads or even Assault Vest work fine.

this is probably just a worse TWave Melmetal, but it cucks Lando, Zapdos, and Volcarona much harder in comparison :blobshrug:
