Edit: I'm not sure how the weekly selection process works or if you are taking suggestions, but all of Rotom-W, Volcanion, and Slowbro haven't been done, tend to mostly get used in a singular fashion, but have more depth than that. I also wouldn't mind doing Blacephalon again soon XD

Week 74: Slowbro

:ss/slowbro:

Slowbro is one of the metagame’s most prominent physical tanks thanks in no short part to its excellent bulk and access to a wide array of offensive utility options like Future Sight + Teleport. These traits make it a staple on bulky offense teams that appreciate a blanket physical check. It can even act as a Knock Off absorber and a Weavile check with a Colbur Berry + Body Press set. Slowbro has a very wide and interesting movepool both offensively and defensively, so let’s see what we can make work!

Slowbro @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Nasty Plot
- Hydro Pump
- Psychic
- Trick Room
Nasty Plot + trick room means that you can switch in, set up trick room on something you scare, out live an attack and plot, and then throw off some boosted attacks a few times. Once TR runs out, you can just switch out and do it again later.
Nasty Plot can be switched out for coverage like Fire Blast or Ice Beam if you really want to.
Just max HP lets Slowbro survive a lot because of its good natural bulk, and max SpA lets it do as much damage as possible. Quiet nature to hit even harder and underspeed opposing mons most of the time(to outspeed when in trick room)

+2 252+ SpA Slowbro Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Weavile: 373-441 (132.7 - 156.9%)

Slowbro @ Light Clay/Left Overs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Scald
- Reflect/Light Screen
- Teleport

This set is a bit of a utility twist on the standard Slowbro, who typically sees very little variation, and may fringe pack toxic in some cases. This set aims to use screens in conjunction with Future Sight to create a set play flow chart that creates constant pressure on the enemy defenses, and help more frail breakers get free turns to click buttons. A lot of bulky offensive teams might opt for spikes ferro now and then, but rocks are typically as much pressure as they apply on the enemy defogger. Slowbro is a pokemon that naturally generates a lot of free turns for these types of teams, and since he doesn't have hazards to force pressure onto enemy defoggers, screens present an interesting alternative to toxic given how many other mons on bulky offense teams can slot toxic instead, where as not many of these mons can generate multiple opportunities to set screens.

Light Clay is the go to choice to maximize each cast of a screen, left overs are if you prefer some recovery to make up for the lack of slack off and hazard chip. Reflect in conjunction with the roll on scald burns helps Slowbro tank the physical threats he is supposed to without having slack off, as well as helps many other mons who would struggle to take multiple hits from rising threat Weavile, and existing threats like Kartana and Melmetal, constant u-turn chip, and Barraskewda in rain. Light Screen is if you are bringing additional physical checks, particularly answers to Weavile, and need to alleviate pressure from other threats like Tapu Lele, Blacephalon, and Heatran, as well as non-sand weather teams. You could potentially run both Reflect and Light screen, eschewing Scald, but packing Scald means you can back up the burn threat that keeps things like Weavile and Kartana from wanting to immediately switch into you, while allowing you to still competently check Lando, and chip/burn defoggers.

Good partners are frailer breakers who typically struggle to take even two neutral hits. Examples include Tapu Lele, Blacephalon, Weavile, Kartana, and Volcanion (to create an offensive-defensive duo water core). Defensive partners include Weavile checks like Buzzwole, Tapu Fini, Heatran, Toxapex, mons like Ferrothorn, Torn, Toxapex again, or even Lando that can more readily absorb Knock Off. Note that if you pair this with Toxapex you will want to consider including a hard answer to Kartana.

Reserving Stored Power Slowbro

MurderBro

:ss/slowbro:

:slowbro:Slowbro @ Leftovers:leftovers:
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stored Power
- Iron Defense
- Calm Mind / Amnesia
- Slack Off

This set uses Slowbro's natural bulk to set up iron defense and calm mind, then use your stat boosts to sweep with stored power. You can also run amnesia over calm mind if you want to be more defensive. For obvious reasons, you'd want to make sure all dark types are knocked out before you attempt a sweep. You'd also want to avoid toxic users since Slowbro doesn't have a poison immunity or a fast taunt to ward off toxic. Regardless, this set makes for a really bulky sweeper that's really hard to take down thanks to it's natural bulk and gen 7 and 8's reduced crit rate, on top of absolutely no one expecting to be swept by a pokemon as passive as Slowbro.

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Block

I fuckin' love BlockBro, haha. Lure in a passive wall like Ferro, AV Slowking/Glowking, Pex without Haze or Clef without Teleport, trap them and win. Rest over Slack Off beats Toxic.

Seismic Toss Slowbro

Slowbro @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
IVs: 0 Atk
Relaxed Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Scald
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Here we have the strategy Rest+Sleep Talk that can be usable here thanks to the addition of Seismic Toss as a solid attacking move not dependant from stat drops. Scald is here for utility in order to fish a 30% useful burn chance.
No boosting moves because Slowbro is often forced out due to its vulnerability to its special side and low Spe.

Slowbro @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Ice Beam
- Future Sight
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast / Psyshock / Scald

For a while I was looking for something that could somewhat compress Slowbro and Slowking´s roles on a team; switching into :Garchomp: and :Urshifu-Rapid-Strike:, while also scouting :Tapu Lele: and fight off :Heatran:, :Nidoking: and :Volcanion:, and this was what I came up with. It´s actually worse than it looks, a Jack-of-all-stats in this metagame is too often a master of none instead. Ice Beam and Earthquake are non-negotiable for fighting off Garchomp and Heatran, respectively. Fire Blast is good for :Ferrothorn: and :Melmetal:, Psyshock gives you something to force out Urshifu immediately, but you can also run Scald for Tapu Lele and Tyranitar and some general status spreading instead. The defense EV´s allow it to live +2 Earthquake from Life Orb Garchomp by the skin of its teeth, the rest should be self-explanatory.

Have a nice day!

Week 74: Rotom-W

:ss/rotom-wash:

Rotom-W has a great niche in the tier as a solid pivot, courtesy of its good typing, bulk, and movepool with a good amount of utility. These tools give it a strong niche on bulky offense teams as a solid way to gain early-to-mid-game momentum with ease. Rotom-W’s movepool, while not being the biggest thing in the world, boasts some interesting coverage and utility options. So let’s see what you guys got!

IVs: 0 Atk

literally just dual screens on rotom. nothing special
obligatory dual screens, volt switch because pivoting out i nice instead of having to hard switch, and hydro is just STAB. In place of pump you can always just run toxic or twave.

Max HP for bulk, max Speed because it has a good speed tier, but you can always invest in bulk instead. Nothing crazy its literally just dual screens on a washtom
