OU RMT for School

I haven't posted a team recently, and at my school, they're holding an OU Tournament on the last week of school. They do play with Smogon rules, and I decided to try to make a team and compete. It took me a while to make, but I am still kinda inexperienced.

This team was mostly built upon resistances, raw power, and bulkiness, in order to ensure long sweeping sessions. I'm not gonna go all out on this RMT unless it does well in the little tourney, so sorry about that.

LEAD:
metagross.png
Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Atk / 20 Spe
Nature: Adamant(+Atk,-SpA)
~ Stealth Rock
~ Earthquake
~ Bullet Punch
~ Meteor Mash

Lead Metagross is one of the best leads in my opinion, due to his great typing and ability to take out other leads. His main role is to set up SR, while taking out common leads with his other three moves. Or better yet, save him for later as a means of attacking. EVs are set to outrun people who try to outrun the standard

SPECIAL ATTACKER
latias.png

Latias @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe,-Atk)
~ Draco Meteor
~ Surf
~ Thunderbolt
~ Trick

Latias works well with Metagross, and can come in on any Ground and Fire attacks directed at it. Her main role is as a Special Attacker, and with Choice Specs, she's a beast that can break almost any Pokemon with Draco Meteor. I chose Timid Nature for the sake of more speed, so it makes switching in and scoring a quick KO much easier.

PHYSICAL ATTACKER
scizor.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
~ U-turn
~ Bullet Punch
~ Superpower
~ Pursuit

One of OU's top threats, and a personal favorite Physical sweeper of mine. His raw power is what I need, and Bullet Punch allows him to pick off some weakened enemies. Most attacks aimed at Latias can be taken by Scizor, who can force switches. U-Turn allows me to scout and switch to a counter to Scizor's counter.

WALL BREAKER
tyranitar.png

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Atk / 176 SpA / 28 Spe
Nature: Quiet (+SpA, -Spe)
~ Substitute
~ Focus Punch
~ Dark Pulse
~ Ice Beam

I wanted to try something new by centering my team around this TyraniBoah. He's arguably one of the bulkiest wall breakers, thanks to Sand Stream, and having SR on the field makes his wall breaking duties easier. Overall, it's just the standard Boah set, meant to get rid of a lot of Physical-based threats.

BULKY COUNTER-COUNTER
rotomheat.png

Rotom-H @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spe
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
~Discharge
~Hidden Power Fighting
~Overheat
~Will-O-Wisp

Tyranitar's main problems are Ground types (Although Ice Beam handles them well), Scizor, Hariyama, and Fighting types like Machamp. Rotom can easily switch in to these guys, and get rid of these Pokemon that could make it difficult to sweep. Will-o-Wisp helps this team by softening up Physical attackers, making it easier to take hits in case some OHKOs don't happen.

REVENGE KILLER
flygon.png

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Nature: Adamant
~Earthquake
~Outrage
~Stone Edge
~U-Turn

Flygon fits well as a revenge killer, as he gives me a nice Ground immunity, which I need, and he resists SR. (Something Lucario can't do at the same time). Chances are he'll get a kill in, because most of the enemies will be weakened by other Pokemon, along with SR and possibly Sand Storm. His largest problem are Ice Shard users like Weavile, whom either Metagross or Scizor can take down.

THREAT LIST (Only listing the ones that can do real hurt to my team)

Empoleon - OH MY GOD. I need to find a way to prevent him from subbing and what not.

Jirachi - He's so versatile, there's no way I can counter it for sure.

Kingdra - He's a tough one to take out, so it's best to have Flygon RK

CHANGES
  • Changed the Meta's moveset and EVs to make it more effective later game.
  • Changed Latias to a specs set

@ Delta (above): Please, know what you're talking about before posting. Empoleon is a major threat to most teams, including this one.

Pretty good team imo. Things I notice:
LatiGross synergy with countless resistances.
Ttar/Rotom synergy.
GonZor synergy, resisting most types between them while hammering with Choiced U-turns. Excellent combo.

Since you have such good synergy already, I don't want to mess with the Pokemon themselves much.

First, Metagross. I personally enjoy running more Speed (I'm running 252/Jolly lately, actually) and discarding Explosion for Meteor Mash. The latter would be especially helpful on your team. Saving Meta for later in the game would make your Latias ever so grateful, as she can relieve herself upon the resists he offers (which are the same things she's weak to in most cases). Exploding Meta would just lose you a safeguard for Latias. Secondly, Meteor Mash. With EQ/Meteor Mash/BP you can defeat nigh on any lead in existence, and save that power for later. Speed is personal preference on your part, but I would highly recommend Meteor Mash.

Latias is giving me some trouble. 12 EVs not in Speed really won't do anything to make you bulkier (save 3 HP points), but winning a Speed tie could potentially be gamebreaking. Max out Speed and keep 4 HP so you'll have a shot. As for the moveset, I'm not a big fan of it. If you really want a status absorber, I would suggest the CM/Dragon Pulse/Recover/Refresh mono-attacker; otherwise I think a simple Specs set would best fit your playstyle. Or you could go CM/Dragon Pulse/Recover/attack, in which case I would suggest HP Fire over Surf to achieve nigh unresisted coverage except by Heatran, whom Flygon can deal with (watch out for HP Ice, but if its in real life I don't think you'll have a problem, unless your friends hack) because HP Fire will solve your Latias' Scizor problem, after taking a BP hit.

I'm mostly done, actually. Scizor and Flygon are perfect. I don't have much experience with the other two, but they seem fine.

Hope this helped. Good luck in your tourney!

Why are you scared of empoleon? Everyone can take it out besides latias.

I'm talking about the scenario with an Agility and Petaya under its belt. It's not too likely, but it can happen.

Thank you, I'll make the changes to Metagross and Latias. I want to go Specs Latias, yet I think that a status absorber is necessary. As for Metagross, do you mean a Jolly 252 Atk/252 Spe? Because I think having more HP would help him stand up to Overheats or Fire Blasts from Heatran/Infernape Leads.

Oh, and by the way...my friends at school do hack to get legit movesets and hidden powers. But, they whine about legendaries being cheap (that doesn't mean they won't battle).

Yes, I meant 252 Atk/252 Spe Jolly, although about 20 Speed EVs, Adamant, actually outspeeds most Metagross, so feel free to run that with HP EVs. 20 is just to outrun people who try to just outrun the standard.

Metagross doesn't really mind paralysis or poisoning (lol), so usually I just send him back in to take Status. But yes, I think Specs would fit your style perfectly.

Ah, ok. That's the answer I was looking for. I'll edit those movesets now. Having 3 choiced Pokemon kinda bugs me a little, but it's fine, really.
