Ok, so I'm not sure if anyone's done this before (I'm sure somebody has), but I have recently discovered the awesomeness that is the Scarftran lead. Being so enamored with it's win and schmex I had no choice but to make a team around it. It's probably not the greatest team ever, but I like it, and it's got me currently at 79th (Which is pretty good for me) on the Pokebattle server OU 4th gen ladder and still rising. I play on that server because I seem to get games faster. Everyone on the smogon one seems to play 5th gen OU.
Anyways, on to the team.
Quick look:
My analysis:
Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Eruption Overheat
-Flash Cannon Dragon Pulse
- Earth Power
-Hidden Power [Ice] Hidden Power [Flying] Hidden Power [Ice]
My lead, and the focus of my team. The set allows him to hit 11 of the 17 types for super effective, and the choice scarf allows him to outspeed every common lead except ninjask (which I still end up outspeeding sometimes because they usually only have enough speed to beat out weaville or jolteon). When people see that I have a Heatran lead they generally think I'm going to stealth rock first. I love getting the first hit with a super effective Eruption and watching them die without even getting to SR. Once I kill the lead I wait and see what they send in (duh), most likely it's something I can't OHKO with my Eruption or whatever I choiced so I switch. This leaves Heatran at full health (and a full power eruption) to come back and revenge kill later.
This set also completely owns taunt and trick leads. To be able to actually trick me before I kill you you'd have to be using a Scarf yourself, and obviously since I have a scarf that won't do anything. Taunt leads get owned because they expect a SR only to get an eruption in the face.
(Flash Cannon seems to be dead weight. Though if there is a move in his pool with better coverage I must have missed it. Suggestions here?)
Scizor (M) @Muscle Band Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Agility
- Superpower
- Bug Bite (90 Power with Technician)
- Iron Head
Scizor has pretty awesome synergy with Heatran. His only weakness is fire, so it's pretty easy to predict what attacks they will be using, and Heatran can absorb fire and raise his sp. attack so if they do attempt to use a fire move on me I'll just switch in Tran and he'll get a free switch in and raised attack with him most likely going first.
Scizor can pretty much outspeed everything after an Agility, and this makes him very dangerous with his massive attack power.
Also kind of need help on the item. Maybe the berry that decreases fire damage? Forgot the name haha.
Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 128 HP / 128 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
-Aerial Ace Stone Edge
- Roost
- Swords Dance
My physical wall with a bit of offense. Not a whole lot to say here. Switch into an EQ or any resisted physical attack, force them to switch by stalling with roost, SD on the switch and sweep. I am looking for a better move than aerial ace though. It's a nice STAB, but it doesn't get that great coverage. I've been thinking of taking a bit out of attack and making it more bulky, but I really like the offense...
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 128 SAtk / 128 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Softboiled
-Ice Beam Flamethrower
- Thunder Wave
- Calm Mind
Special wall with a bit of offense (I hate just straight up stalling). The Ice Beam actually does a really good job of whittling down opponents after (or even before) a few CMs while they're paralyzed.
Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
Ehh... I love this set, and I've used it many times with great success, but I already have a good revenge killer in Heatran, and I really need a water type move on my team. I'm thinking of switching this for a CM suicune (set shown at bottom).
Suicune @ Wise Glasses
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump / Surf (Each time HP misses god kills a puppy)
- Calm Mind
Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Dragon Dance
-Outrage Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
Physical DD dragonite. My blissey buster. One Superpower will always KO a blissey with no EVs in defense and max in HP (generally true). The best part is that they don't know what Nite I'm running until it's too late. Sometimes they switch to a dragon counter instead of staying for the SP, which is fine. I can just switch to heatran safely and kill them with HP ice. DD is there for obvious reasons. If I feel the enemy is going to switch I'll most likely DD, and then sweep one of two pokemon. Outrage is there for STAB and all around awesome, and Fire punch is for those pesky Ice and Steel types. After one or two DDs it's pretty much gg.
One problem is that I have trouble dealing with blissey if nite does end up dead somehow.
Acutally, I just realized that Brick Break will KO a max HP EV and 0 def EV blissey 100% of the time too so I may switch to that. Thoughts?
Problems I've faced:
- Stealth rock seems to rape my team pretty hard... I need a rapid spinner, but I don't really know who should do it... Generally only suicide focus sash leads can get them off, but when they do it's a pain.
- I have lots of trouble with opposing heatrans, but I think the switch to the CM suicune will fix that.
- Is it just me or is my team fire weak?
- Probably other things I'm forgetting right now... >_>
- Forgot something! Knew I did. Anyways, as it is now (without CMcune) I don't have any water moves. This is probably really bad, but I'll let you guys decide.
CMcune set below:
Suicune @ Wise Glasses
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump / Surf (Each time HP misses god kills a puppy)
- Calm Mind
Need help with the item, but overall I like it. I've used it before very effectively.
----------------------
Anyways, that's my team. Hope you liked it. I have no delusions that this team is perfect and am open to trying anything, so feel free to (constructively) criticize and suggest changes.
Edit: I think I'm going to switch AA for SR on my Gliscor. Its a good move, but I get completely walled by flying types on him anyways so i don't think losing AA would be that bad.
Anyways, on to the team.
