XY OU OU Sableye Stall

hi,
so i'm kind of new to competitive pokemon and could use some help.
with an article on this site i build a mega sableye team, but i feel like it could use some improvements aswell as my gameplay itself. i just started yesterday and with help of a typechart i played it to around 1,2k on the ou showdown ladder.

I try to explain why i've picked each Pokemon, but in all honesty i'm just starting out so a lot of my choices will be bad. I hope with some practice on the showdown ladder + your advice i can make this team really good.

sableye.gif

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Snarl
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover

Ok so first off Sableye as the Megapokemon of this Team. I still use him very poorly but i feel like he has tons of potential with good bulk, 3 immunities and only 1 weakness and an amazing abillity in magic guard that synergises well with stall alwell as functioning as a spinblocker. I changed his EVs to def so he can safely take a hit before setting up will-o-wisp.

chansey.gif

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Protect
- Wish

Chansey is just amazing in this team. It's by far the most tanky pokemon in this team and it completely walls a lot of threats, stalls and is just a safe switchin for when there is nothing else to take the hit. I love toxic on it not only because this is a team that has an easy time stalling the opponent out with status, but also because it can be hard to get rid of very bulky pokemon with recovery. only knock off is very scary.

clefable.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Protect
- Wish

Clefable is there to not only counter opposing mega-sableye and the various dragon types that are around, but also to take care of pokemon that can easiely set-up on this team. Healbell rids my team of toxic which would otherwise be very scary against it and also to wake landorus and tentacruel up.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Landorus-t is my secound physical wall. He can really take quite a beating thanks to intimidate and resttalk, and is one of the few pokemon on this team that can also deal decent damage in a single hit with good coverage from earthquake + stone edge. He synergises very well with my next two pokemon, heatran and tentacruel because he provides an crutial immunity to ground and electricity.

heatran.gif

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock

Heatran handles Landorus-ts 4x ice weakness with a double resist aswell as tentacruels grass weakness with a dobuble resist. More importantly however he handles sableyes fairy weakness againe with a double resist so het can deal with them easiely. He is also the stealthrock setter on my team.

tentacruel.gif

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Acid Spray
- Rapid Spin
- Rest

Tentacrul is a nice switch-in for the commonly used water type moves against Heatran and Landorus-t. It is also the much needed rapid spinner on this team which he does a good job at because he's not countered by the common spinblocker sableye.

Threats:?
Changes to the team:
-I don't like Rocky Helmet on Landorus-t very much, but i already have two leftovers so i might replace either him or heatran, or change heatrans item.
-I'm not sure if heatran is the best stealthrock setter. maybe i'll slap it onto chansey.
-i might want to have a steel type move in exchange for toxic on heatran so he can do his designated job to deal with faries better.

Btw how can i use spoiler tags in this forum?

I would normally wait for you to update the RMT to be at the level to actually rate it, but I'll give advice now in hopes that you will take it into consideration and continue to build onto the team and thread.

Since you're new to competitive, I would like to point out to you that the point of stall is to wear down opponents with passive damage, which includes hazards and status. Most successful stall teams have a setup sweeper to clean up once everything has been whittled down). This means that a majority of your mons should have defensive sets.

When playing stall, your biggest threat in regards to play style will be opposing stall. To be more specific, Mega-Sableye stall will be your inherit weakness. While Sableye is a popular set up sweeper for stall teams, I feel like a utility set fit him much better.

sableye-mega.gif

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

Impish/Relaxed Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Knock Off/Foul Play
- Snarl/Metal Burst

For the most part, Mega-Sableye is largely physically defensive because he looses Prankster upon mega evolving and is required to tank a hit from a physical attacker before crippling it. The EV spread maximizes physical bulk, and offers three forms of utility, which are self explanatory.

chansey.gif

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Aromatherapy/Toxic
- Seismic Toss/Counter

Your team lacks a cleric, which is imperative in stall. Status chips away at walls and can break them with cumulative damage much faster than they can recover. Chansey and Clefable form and incredibly stall core, and you will want at least one of them to act as a cleric.
On a side note, I see from the replays that you fear a Psyshock from LO Latios while using Chansey. Chansey can easily come in on a Psyshock and heal off the damage that it takes from Latios.

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 226-266 (32.1 - 37.8%) -- 94.5% chance to 3HKO

clefable.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell/Toxic/Fire Blast/Thunder Wave/Cosmic Power

OR

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock/Protect
- Moonblast
- Fire Blast/Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled/Wish

Unaware Clefable is too important on stall to attempt to run it as a set up sweeper or without recovery, in my opinion. The set that you choose is completely reliant on whether you want Chansey or Clefable to be your cleric, and whether or not one of your physical walls will have Stealth Rock or not.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Landorus lacks recovery, and Rest is his only way to do so. While I personally prefer using Rhyperior as one of my stall physical walls due to his utility of Dragon Tail, Landorus can make an incredibly sleep talker that isn't reliant on a cleric to awaken him or to burn two turns of sleep.

Alternatively, you can opt for these two as Landorus replacement. Again, whether or not you give them Stealth Rock is wholly dependent on how you wish to play Chansey and Clefable.

rhyperior.gif

BBW (Rhyperior) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Tail
- Stone Edge
- Rest

or
gliscor.gif

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Spd / 80 Spe OR 252 HP/Def if Swords Dance is not chosen
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Swords Dance/Taunt
- Knock Off
- Earthquake

You are headed in a right direction with the selection of Heatran. In Mega-Sableye stall, stall teams tend to have a designated fairy killer, as faries threaten Sableye, and Mega-Gardevoir in general is a massive threat to stall.

jirachi.gif

Jirachi @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 176 SpD / 80 Spe
Careful Nature
- Wish/Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Body Slam
I'm just going to copy/paste part of the smogdex for this one.
Stealth Rock is an excellent option on Jirachi, as it can come in on quite a few common threats and set up the vital hazard; Jirachi even beats the predominant Defoggers, Latios and Latias. Iron Head is an important STAB move with a 60% chance to flinch the foe. Although this flinch chance should not be relied upon, it can definitely come in handy to get free damage and allow Jirachi to take on foes that it could not otherwise; it is also crucial to defeat Calm Mind Clefable. U-turn is used to gain momentum on switches, which can rack up damage from Stealth Rock. The switch-in is forced out and another Pokemon will be forced to take Stealth Rock damage.

starmie.gif

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 16 SpD / 244 Spe
Timid Nature
- Reflect Type/Coverage Move
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

While stall does need a hazard removal due to Sableye not always being able to evolve early in the battle, it is counter productive to have an offensive spinner, as it will not only get worn down by the hazards, but by the Life Orb recoil as well.
Starmie is a solid choice for a spinner, as it has wonderful speed and recovery, however, I recommend either opting for Tentacruel, as it can take down spin blockers. More importantly, it can take down spin blocker Mega-Sableye 1 v 1
tentacruel.gif

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Spd / 8 Def
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Acid Spray
- Rapid Spin
- Rest

The EVs are generic, as I have yet to find a suitable mixed spread. Acid Spray is a unique tool that Tentacruel to beat things like Sableye, Volcarona, and CM Clefable. Also, it can force switches, and continue to rack up hazard damage.

I feel like watching some replays of some of the sets in action might help you better understand the concept of stall. Note that I only came back to stall during the suspect test, so I don't have too many replays due to me not wanting to waste time on the suspect ladder.

Acid Spray Tentacruel forcing Volcarona out and Counter Chansey taking out a massive, possibly mixxed threat to the team:

How NOT to play recklessly and inappropriately loose valuable walls. Stall is about making safe place, after all.

Counter Chansey putting in work

I can provide further replays once I have sufficiently laddered up to a decent rank within the next couple weeks

Thanks for the advice. greatly appreciated. will update my post now. I have one problem though. i went and changed my heatran to specially defensive and replaced scarf with leftovers(to make it the sr setter). if i take the landorous-t build i already have two leftover users though. can i just leave landorous with rcky helmet or would that be so bad that i should rather change one of the two to a non leftover using pokemon?

smogon doesnt have an iitem clause

i ran into some problems with the current setup.
first off i can never really get stealth rocks out with heatran. theres too many water or ground types that i cant really deal with. mamoswine, seismotoad and gliscor all seemed like big problems for me.
secoundly i'm not sure i like the sableye set you gave me ed wins. why do i need to be defensive? i mean i can just go for the will-o-wisp before i evolve to mega, tank the (thanks to will-o-wisp) lowered hit on him and then evole+recover. also i had problems with him against really defensive types that would normally be setup fodder for him if he had calm mind. this game showcases both problems i faced really good http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-214524004 . i think one of the biggest problems is that i cannot beat ground types that have water or ice secoundary typing because landorus-t is my ground counter and he losesbadly against those. this makes heatran useless because of his x4 weakness and also tentacruel suffers from it. still not liking tentacruel also but i guess i'll make some changes before i think about replacing him.

i'm thinking about either replaycing clafables healbell with stealth rocks and going back to the original scarfed heatran set or replaycing heatran with a sr setter that has no ice or ground weakness that can also deal with faeris and grass types, but i'm not yet sure the pokemon i'm looking for exists.

First of all, I didnt say that you shouldnt use cm sableye. i said that I dont like using it. feel free to test it if you feel like that can be a wincon in your favor.
I can definitely see how anything with ground+ice coverage can put in work onto this team. How about replacing heatran for ferrothorn? also, you have three options with a rock setter in chansey, clefable, and your physical wall. if you decide to keep building on this team, you have to decide how you can make the three work together as best as possible.
furthremore, it seems like youre still learning the meta. for example, gliscor himself(which you severely struggled with) is a physical wall, and your main answer to it should have been sableye, not defensive landorus.

as far as more suggestions go, I don't think that i should continue to help you, as your team is looking scarily close to mine. see for yourself:http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/oras-stall-without-set-up-sweepers.3530555/#post-6075344
