OU Unleashed! Garardos's fury!!!

I set out to build a team capable of relentless attacks that would "take apart" and dominate the OU metagame with optimal efficiency. This, I believed could only be achieve through the use of a wide range of types of Pokemon, complementary move sets, "good synergy" as well as encorperating and formulating strategies put forth by many smogon competitive battlers. Unfortunately my team seems to be struggling when my rating it at 1390. I find it hard and mere impossible to push through this barrier of rating in which my team needs to be tweaked to ensure my flaws are minimal.

Metagross @Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Evs: 200 HP / 252 Att / 12 Def / 46 Spd
Nature: Adament
- Bullet Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
Purpose: Leadgross is the ultimate Pokemon to beat many/most of the leads in the OU metagame as well as set up stealth rock. This Pokemon easily walls lead; Arodactyl, heatran (occa berry allows metagross to withstand the most deadly fire attacks and then 1HKO heatran with earthquake) Azelf (meteor mash will almost eliminate Azelf in a single hit however a follow up bullet punch is needed which is extremely effective). This sets up a strong position for the rest of my team. No lead is better in my opinion that I have come across or trialed!

Gyarados @Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 186 Att / 168 Spd
Nature: Jolly
- Dragon dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone edge
Purpose: Gyarados is a great dancer and arguably the biggest threat in OU with the possibility to annihilate the opposition within a matter of seconds. I have decided to utilize the jolly gyaradose method. This allows me to combat many threats that initially outspeed gyarados. However after one ddance, Gyarados easily destroys jolteon, electivre with earthquake and stone edge on zapdos will all 1HKO them. Gyarados is a vital member in my team.

Scizor @Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 108 HP / 252 Att / 150 Spc.D
Nature: Adament
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Brick break
- Swords Dance
Purpose: Scizor is a great finisher! I am often found switching him in to finish off an opponent; along with swords dance, it makes him a formidable opponent to anyone, no matter what type of Pokemon. Scizors deadly bullet punch along with brick break give is a wide coverage of pokemon, allowing it to take down massive defensive threats such as blissey. Now don’t be fooled by the leftovers, scizor generates enough attacking power from a swords dance to become a vicious opponent, life orb only damages his weak Hp allowing him to be swept by various threats. Along with this, it becomes merely impossible to run from scizor, due to the move pursuit. Roost is also being trialled for scizors durability, hence life orb would also be considered if roost was utilised. He is a fantastic asset to my team.

Infernape @Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 74 Att / 252 Spd / 184 Spc. A
Nature: Naïve
- Close Combat
- Grass knot
- Fire Blast
- HP ice
Purpose: Infernape is a versatile Pokemon, able to wall damaged water types with grass knot and full HP swamperts as well as many steel Pokemon with fire blast and pokemon such as gliscor and flyon with Hp ice. Infernape is an incredible late stage Pokemon when the opposition usually has little to prevent it; along with this infernapes close combat is able to 1HKO all blissey’s faced throughout shoddy battle. Vacume wave is also another option im considering, this is sole to counter a ddance tyranitar, between this and bullet punch the priority allows me to 2HKO it successfully. This is when this mix ape is very dangerous.

Lucario @Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 6 Hp / 252 Att / 252 Spd
Nature: Jolly
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Extremespeed
- Swords Dance
Purpose: Lucario is quite the attacking weapon, if used correctly. This move pool allows Lucario to strike with massive damage with Close Combat as well as attack with priority using extremespeed. Match this with speed and you have a demon off the leash. Along with cover move such as crunch which takes down rotom – H!!! (he use to be a massive threat to this team…..unti now :D), it will enable a wider the range of super effectiveness. Lucario has the ability to win the game and destroy your opponent.
latias.png

Latias @Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6HP / 252 Spc.A / 252 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Surf / thunder bolt
Purpose: It’s as simple as this, Latias is an absolute tank! Latias can be used throughout all stages of the game. I have found him extremely helpful to sub in then recover (if health is down) as your opponent switches and then bring him back into the game later against a more favourable match up. There’s not much to say really about this guy, he is reliable, massive potential and destructive. I would like your opinion on whether I should have surf or thunderbolt.

This is by far my most successful team, however as I mentioned before it becomes stuck and I want the minor flaws flattened so to speak. Suggestion will be greatly appreciated. :)

Threat List:
To me this team doesn’t have any major threats however it is known to fall to the “annoying bastards” really. This however is partially my fault dude to my arrogant and frustrating nature when the battle doesn’t go to plan. Particularly skarmory in the late stages of the battle where it usually whirlwinds. Hippowdon and calm mind jirachi are also a pain in the ass.

This team has a huge Salamence problem. Wheather it be Dragon Dance or Mixed, you need to fix that. After one Dragon Dance, your whole team is outrun and KO'd. For this reason, I suggest you switch your Latias to a Choice Scarf version with Draco Meteor, Surf, Thunderbolt and Trick. It can switch into a Dragon Dance Salamence and Gyarados and OHKO them both. This also gives you a secondary check against ScarfTran, who can also cause problems for this team.

Hope I helped, and Good luck!

There are two changes I'd make. First off, regardless of what you're trying to accomplish, you really need to put a scarf somewhere on this team, probably Latias. As of now, you are pretty much helpless against Gyarados and Salamence. The set witness listed is fine, with perhaps Dragon Pulse over Draco Meteor. Secondly, I would change Scizor to a banded version, with Bullet Punch/ Pursuit/ U turn/ Superpower. This will let you trap things like Latias, Rotom, and Gengar, all of which could end your Gyarados/Lucario sweeps. That should make it a lot easier for you to end games with sweeps.

Hope my advice helps, test it out.

Couple thoughts/notes.

Jolly Lucario Ice Punch > Crunch, but IMO go with Adamant and Crunch, thats if you scarf Latias [Surf/DracoMeteor/Thunderbolt/Dragon Pulse or Trick]. Scarf Latias can help you against opposing DDmence/dos, and really many other things which attempt to set up, as well as having great synergy with Scizor.

Speaking of Scizor, you will need a much Bulkier spread than that, max Atk isnt necessary here. Using small HP and SpD EVs will be useless with Heatran and stuff use Fire Blast. IMO dump most in HP and SpD, something like 252 HP / 76 Atk / 168 SpD / 8 Spe.

You also would want a ghost type pokemon, because Close Combat from Lucario or Dynamic Punch from Machamp will cause problems. So you could use Rotom-H here, a scarfd one could replace Latias.

Anyway, good luck!

I wouldn't worry too much about DDMence. You'll have Stealth Rock on the field, meaning as long as Scizor is CB'd, you'll be able to deal 59-70%. So if it even thinks about attacking, the Life Orb recoil will surely get it within range.

As for Gyarados, well, you have plenty of offense already. DD to speed up and sweep, a CM'er needed as last poke, a over powerful sweeper in Lucario and a CBer (hopefully) running around with U-Turn. Ditch the Infernape. Instead why not try Vaporeon. It's quite bulky yes, and fortunately as the Wishes can help a shitload of your team. Gyarados won't like SR on the field as much, so Wish helps, as well as for Lucario if you need to attempt another sweep later. Scizor won't be healing either and might need to absorb an Outrage. Just reheal them. Best of all, Vaporeon can wall Gyarados, as well as help against that annoying Agility Metagross issue you cuold have.

thanks for this ...it'll give me something to think about but im wondering why doesn't anyone particularly like infernape?? and what other suggestions besides vaporeon (sorry but im trying to stick strickly offensive for this team) would fill his position/ maybe heatran possibly. Oh yeh and I have changed to scarf latias and CBscizor (just letting u no)

I would probably go with just go with Breloom. There aren't many Gyaradoses using Ice Fang anymore, and if they're using Bounce, they're wasting precious turns where you can play mind games by switching betwene Meta+Gyara, allowing you to Intimidate them. You can also add Mach Punch on Breloom, as a way to surprise Lucario, seeing as how it'd just assume to CC.

If the fire weakness is too big for you, then I'd just change over to an offensive Cune. It's still bulky enough to survive a +2 ES from Cune, and you'll be faster (baring Jolly Lucarios). Gyarados can't significally destroy Suicune either so you can just Hidden Power Electric it as well.

A thought has occurred to me.... a subtran?? thoughts on this ....would it suit my team. I'll have a go a it anyway a see how it goes
