OU Warstory: Bad Beginnings

This is my first warstory, so hopefully this won't turn out sucky.

So I'm in the business of testing out a new team, and I'm hoping find a good battle. I'm in a good mood, because while I've only played a few game thus far, the team has performed well in all of them and is unbeaten. I press the Find Tab, and soon have a battle at hand. I quickly notice my opponent doesn't have some stupid name with a pokemon and a bunch of random numbers, and prepare myself for a possibly good match.

And so the battle begins,
The Creative 123abc vs. Relevant Man

123abc sent out Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Relevant Man sent out Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).

Metagross - 100%

The battle starts and I lead with my interesting Scarf Gliscor. This match up doesn't worry me too much, as this is most likely either a BandGross who won't want to stay in on what he must think is a normal Gliscor, or it's one of the new TrickGross, who would be in for a nasty surprise if he tries anything tricky(no pun).

---
Gliscor used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!

Yikes. The crit takes down my Gliscor, and I'm left wondering why he would even bother attacking what he must have thought was a normal Gliscor. Oh well, the loss isn't too bad as Gliscor only serves as a surpise revenge killer, but then again it would of course always be nice to have him for later.

123abc switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Relevant Man switched in Starmie (lvl 100 Starmie).
Pointed stones dug into Starmie.
Starmie lost 12% of its health.
Heatran used Earth Power.
Starmie lost 38% of its health.

Heatran - 100%
Starmie - 50%

I send in ScarfTran to revenge kill, and Earth Power hoping to catch any other Heatran that might be hoping to grab a boost. Instead I'm met with a Starmie. At first I'm happy to see this as it gives me a chance to swap in Abomasnow and set up on Starmie, but then I realize I might be about to lose my Rocks, far too early in the game for my taste.

---
123abc switched in Abomasnow (lvl 100 Abomasnow ?).
Abomasnow's Snow Warning whipped up a hailstorm!
Hail began to fall!
Starmie used Trick.
Starmie obtained Leftovers!
Abomasnow obtained Choice Scarf!

Ugh. This is going to be a pain, one of my two subseeders won't be doing any subseeding today.

Abomasnow restored 4% of its health.

Abomasnow - 100%
Starmie - 38%

I stay in and Leech Seed because I figure the moveset must be something like Trick/Surf/BoltBeam, but instead he spins away my rocks which I had thought might be safe.

Abomasnow used Leech Seed.
Abomasnow's attack missed!

Abomasnow - 100%

I opt to Leech Seed whatever comes in so I can at least help out whoever I send out to counter it, but instead I'm met with the metagame's newest threat, Skymin. My Scarftran is the obvious switch here, however I'm worried it'll be predicted. Deeming Abomasnow useless, I prepare for a sacrifice.

Shaymin-s used Earth Power.
It's not very effective...
Abomasnow lost 11% of its health.
Abomasnow's special defence was lowered.
Abomasnow used Leech Seed.

My prediction about Earth Power proves correct, however then things go from bad to worse. Usually this team is in control of the game, and any opposing Skymin never get a chance to do much to me. Because of this, even though I know it' common for them to caarry Substitute, that fact has totally slipped my mind. I'm now left with the grim choice of who to sacrifice.

I'm now down 4-6, have no SR, and a Scarfed SubSeeding Abomasnow <_<. At this point I'm thoroughly unenthused, and the game looks lost. Despite this, I'm not one to give up and send out the only poke left who can take out Skymin. Mamo is supposed to be for lategame only, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Finally I show some signs of life. I'm still losing, but nonetheless any kill by Mamo leaves me feeling like I've got so momentum(even though I don't really...)

And now I'm faced with yet another new threat brought by Platinum. Knowing he's going to DD up, I sense an opportunity to rid myself of the uselessness that is Abomasnow. I'm hoping Abomasnow can at least tack on some good damage, as my best shot of taking down the sea horse looks to be Ice Shard.

Predicting a Sub, I stay in to break it. I'm going to need Starmie for later on, while Mamo has LO whittling down his health so I'd prefer to have him not take any hits at all. That leaves Breloom, who I'm hoping can at least switch in on the T-Bolt that must be coming my way next turn, and then hopefully Focus Punch a Sub leaving Jolteon in Ice Shard range.

---
123abc switched in Breloom (lvl 100 Breloom ?).

To my dismay, he subs yet again. Now the game looks all but lost, Breloom can only Focus Punch so Jolteon could just attack me till I die, and then have a sub up as Mamo comes out. I pray that he instead choosing to Baton Pass his Sub to someone else.

My prays are answered, and suddenly things are looking up. Shaymin and Jolteon are in Ice Shard range, while Starmie doesn't have enough HP left to absorb two Ice Shards. All I have left to do is let Breloom die off and then bring in Mamo. I still don't know his last poke, but a Mamosweep looks plausible right now.

Oddly he sends out Jolteon. I Ice Shard for the KO, but to my dismay Jolteon survives and makes a Wish. I realize he must be packing HP EVs, but now I'm left with the choice of Ice Sharding Jolteon, or EQ'ing in hopes of him bringing in Starmie to absorb the Ice Shard and grab some healing. I opt to EQ as I'm confident I can take a Hidden Power and live to tell the tale.

He didn't swap his last poke in on Mamoswine, and so I'm inclined to save him even though there's a chance my switch could be predicted and met with a T-Bolt. Instead Starmie Recovers. In hindsight, this should make me happy as he just revealed his fourth move, however I had not been keeping track and so now I fear the possibility of him being Timid and Max Speed with T-Bolt, meaning a coin flip between our Starmie's.

He reveals his last poke, Heatran. I think he's going to do one of two things: Explode on Starmie winning him the game, or Earth Power Starmie which would allow me to win with Recover+Surf. In either scenario Starmie is essential to the victory, while Mamo is not.

PROPS
* Little-to-no Hax
* Descent comeback
* Trick Starmie is cool

SLOPS
* I got outplayed horribly in the beginning.
* Breloom and Abomasnow, my two subseeders who usually wreak havoc, were bystanders for most of the game.

Very good game Relevant Man, it was a lot of fun.

Feel free to comment on if I had too much/little/whatever commentation. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it.

I liked this warstory a lot. A good story overall and, as you said, no large hax barring the opening crit. Also, your comments were quite insightful, something first-time warstories almost always lack. Great job!

That was a very nice first warstory! Better than mine, at least. Only thing was, the battle was too short for my liking, so not a whole lot happened (according to me). Otherwise, it was quite good!

One again Mamo proves to be one of the most potent threats in the game.

Love the LO mamo, i run it too

Mamo @ LO
Naughty: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 SAtk

Ice Shard
Stone Edge
HP Fire

It's beast

Thanks for the positive comments guys, and yes, Mamo is a beast.

Tingaling, my Mamo is actually the MixMamo set from the analysis, which is part of why I have Abomasnow, cause I'd never risk Blizzard without Hail support.

For your set, HP Fire is for Bronzong/Skarm, no? You should try the Mamo set I run when I don't have Hail support.
Mamo @ LO
Naughty/Jolly same EV's as yours
EQ
Ice Shard
Ice Fang
HP Elec
HP Elec hits Skarm as hard as your HP Fire, while also hitting Gyarados as hard as an Intimidated SE. That leaves a slot for Ice Fang. Not everyone is a fan of Ice Fang on Mamo, but personally I find the extra power against slower walls a great boon(not to mention the likely 2HKO on Celebi). Not to mention HP Fire requires a Speed IV of 30, which is kind of a downer when facing other Mamos.

Great warstory, a very enjoyable lead. Mamoswine is truly a beast, and the Starmie showdown at the end was nice. Well done!

This was a nice warstory, not too long and not too flashy. I enjoyed it, thanks.

My head isn't as far up Mamoswine's ass as the rest of you though. It's a decent pokemon, but not the savior you guys are making it out to be. Anything that levitates, or anything faster than it that resists Ice Shard pretty much shuts it down.

Again, thanks for the comments guys.

My head isn't as far up Mamoswine's ass as the rest of you though. It's a decent pokemon, but not the savior you guys are making it out to be. Anything that levitates, or anything faster than it that resists Ice Shard pretty much shuts it down.

Good thing nothing that's faster and resists Ice Shard can switch in on Earthquake, and of all the levitators the only ones that can actually take on Mamo are Uxie, Mesprit, Cresselia, and Bronzong, with the last two the only ones commonly seen(not to mention the only form of recovery they have is Rest, which is only really used by Cressy out of the four of them). I'll admit I like Mamoswine a lot and it's of course no savior poke or anything, but come on, you make it sound like there's oodles and oodles of pokemon just waiting to switch in and ruin Mamo's day <_<
