Palkia [QC: 0/3]

no please, there's plenty of good sets that need to be put in that i can't leak yet :(

Spdef Palkia is one, you can look at probs x sweep spl game for an idea. (but the moveset itself is p flexible , you just need toxic and rest as the must haves)

I can't wait for more Palk sets cos I'm bored of just RestKia to beat ogre on stall or grassceus cos both are boring as sin.

Also it's kinda weird that balance between people wanting to contribute to a good analysis but keep their best sets and spreads to themselves.

(Typing this on phone so sorry if messy)
After watching sweep vs probs I playtested this set and it works great:
Palkia @ Leftovers
248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm nature
- Toxic
- Rest
- Surf
- Thunder Wave / Fire Blast

Moves:
- toxic + rest is a must, allows this set to win 1v1 against most support arceus bc you can heal status and they can't. (4 spa judgment is a 4HKO doing max 30%). Allows Palkia to get past usual checks like lugia and is nice for hitting switchins / crippling setup sweepers like certain cm arc
- Surf is reliable stab, hits most things neutrally (only thing immune to it is like Gastrodon which dies to this set lel), also smacks stuff like Heatran and Lando t
- Thunder Wave nice to hit Xern switch ins, situationally more useful than toxic (eg having that scarf ogre paraed > poisoned) btw scarf ogre is doing a maximum of 29% with thunder :o
- Fire Blast over twave if Ferro and Scizor are problematic
- idk if dragon tail should be slashed, this would make Palkia function in the role of a bulky pseudo-lugia mon who isn't completely offensively helpless

Usage tips:
- stall arceus formes you can stall
- this is THE answer to most Kyogre so switch it in aggressively against that
- predict when using status (ie cripple switch ins, sometimes it doesn't want to stay in to status things as it will have to take a hit and rest is not too reliable recovery). So something like: switch in on ogre --> status the predicted switch in.

Team options
- cleric support provided by Xern/sylveon highly recommended
- something to deal with Ho-oh (ground type sr setters)
- all Mewtwo are bitches (taunt users generally suck), something to deal with that.
- physically based sweepers are generally bad news.
- opposing Palkia are generally bad too
- anything with Draco meteor is bad. This set fares poorly against giratina too
- again, fairy types help remedy a lot of this
- fairy types are both friend and foe - answer to them specifically Geoxern mandatory
- arceus ghost is sweet as it burns stuff and checks Mewtwo and checks palkia
- Defog support
