Peaked at 17th on the Shoddy Ladder...

INTRODUCTION:
_______________

Well here is a team that got me to 17th on the Shoddy ladder sometime in the past few weeks. It's been working wonders for me. I'm currently experimenting with leads to see which works best.

THE TEAM:
_______________

heatran.png

Heatran@Leftovers
Modest
54 HP, 240 Sp. Atk, 216 Spd

Taunt
Stealth Rock
Fire Blast
Dragon Pulse

This is a beast of a lead. Basically, Bronzong screwed to begin with. Normally, the threat of a Choice Scarf is enough to scare away Gengar, allowing me to SR and see their Heatran counter. This loves it's resistences, and can usually get the ball rolling with SR.

celebi.png

Celebi@Leftovers
Bold
252 HP, 220 Def, 36 Spd

Grass Knot
Recover
Leech Seed
U-Turn/Reflect

Counter Gyarados and Swampert extrememly well. This is another fighting resist for the team, and combines well with Gyarados to form the physical walling for my team. Leech Seed and U-Turn are very effective for the team, Leech Seed often causes switches, and U-Turn lets me choose the correct pokemon for the situation when such an occurence follows. Reflect is an option because I've found that I have a slight problem with Baton Passer's, especially when Ala is gone. Reflect stops Belly Drum Smeargle passers from dominating me...I hope.

gyarados.png

Gyarados@Leftovers
Impish
212 HP, 8 Atk, 184 Def, 106 Spd

Rest
Sleep Talk
Dragon Dance
Waterfall

Basically, this switches in on resistences, and also Intimidates physical attackers. This is remarkably only 3HKO'd by Choice Band Heracross Stone Edge after Intimidate, and I can just Rest off the damage and outstall it. Set outspeeds Garchomp after a DD, and outspeeds non +speed natured Tyranitar before DD.

blissey.png

Blissey@Leftovers
Calm
100 HP, 252 Def, 156 Sp. Def
Natural Cure

Wish
Softboiled/Protect
Thunder Wave
Seismic Toss

Obligatory Special Wall. Wish heals Ala and Chomp if subbing fails.
- - - - - - - - - -
garchomp.png

Garchomp@Leftovers
Jolly
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP

Substitute
Swords Dance
Outrage
Earthquake

This is AbuseChomp at it's finest. Outrage is an option, as after a SD it at least 2HKO's all it's supposed 'Counters'. Leftovers gives me another Sub if necessary, and Yache Berry wasn't seeing much use before.

alakazam.png

Alakazam@Leftovers
Timid
24 HP, 248 Sp. Atk, 236 Spd

Substitute
Psychic
Encore
Hidden Power BUG

I absolutely adore this. Basically switches into a status user. (i.e. Blissey, Cresselia) then subs. They use Thunder Wave, but Sub protects me. Usually Blissey users then proceed to try and Seismic Toss me, but I Encore their Thunder Wave, then switch in Garchomp for an easy set up. HP BUG hits Cresselia, Weavile, Alakazam, Celebi etc for great damage, and isn't expected. This combines very well with Garchomp, as stated previously, and is an integral part of the team, allowing me to freely switch when needed, as long as I predict correctly.

while i do like the team im not sure why you're using subchomp without sand o-O

not sure about your best hera/garchomp counter being weak to sr, ive used resttalk gyara (albiet more offensive and with dd) and sr damage is a drag without wish so that > at could help with bliss, and your two sub users would appreciate that too.

opposing DD LO gyaras are pretty terrifying, outspeeding and ohko or 2hkoing pretty much your entire team

Unfortunately Wish was banned on the official server (at last check), or else Wish was my priority there. I'm slightly timid with the SR weakness. Sub chomp is still terrifying without sand, and the number of sand teams still going around means a quarter of the battles I'm in it's got Sand Veil activation anyway. Celebi comes in, and Reflect/Recover stalls it until I can get to within KO range via Grass Knot. (But is see your point, Ala doesn't help vs +speed statters)

You could always run Choice Scarf Garchomp instead of its initial set, then you can outspeed the likes of Gyarados after one Dragon Dance. This is, of course, if Celebi is commonly taken down by Life Orb + Ice Fang Gyarados; I personally see it happening often without Reflect.

As for the Rest + Sleep Talk Gyarados, I soley feel that you're much better off with this EV spread: 212 HP/8 Atk/184 Def/104 Spd - Impish nature. With Dragon Dance, you're capable of outspeeding Garchomp, whilst opposing Tyranitar is outrun without Dragon Dance (not including Speed beneficial natures). And yeah, you will want to remove Ice Fang for Dragon Dance with your primary attack being Waterfall.

Thunder Wave Blissey becomes redundant without needing to paralyze opposition when your team is generally fast anyway; Gyarados with Dragon Dance, Choice Scarf Garchomp and Alakazam's already impressive Speed. So, as a result, I suggest either Ice Beam / Flamethrower as the second attacking optionl; preferably the latter so you have a wide virety for Steel-types that, in theory, stop Garchomp from cleaning up efficiently.

I have to agree that SubChomp is great even without the sand. Even if sandstream is not active, it allows you free cover from the likes of Starmie and Weavile as you Outrage, provided you predicted correctly and use Sub on the switch. It also protects you against status, meaning you actually wall Weezing, unless it has HP Ice as its other moves don't do shit(Sludge Bomb, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt).

I think the general consensus with consensus among players is that Vaporeon can and should be used over Blissey for teams in need of Wish support. You can never get enough Infernape coverage, and this solves your Gyara weak. I do believe Wish is banned on the server, so Vaporeon is a great option. If you would like, Ice Beam can help counter Garchomp, but that is really pushing the limits. Many carry a Yache Berry and you need Protect with Wish, or else you are beaten very easily.

If I were to be running Vappy, it would be Choice Specs, with Wish support. I just like the set better, but I am still for Blissey. Wish isn't for the official server, Aromatherapy/Ice Beam/Flamethrower goes there.

I'll try the EV spread thanks Taylor.

Choice Specs Vaporeon creates serious difficulty when attempting effective Wish support, as it cannot heal its HP in order to keep itself alive, let alone the team members it's supposedly supporting. If you're going to use Choice Specs on Vaporeon, concentrate on the attacking capabilities of Vaporeon alone; allow Wish to be utilized elsewhere. However, I guess it's a possibility to 'tech' Wish on Vaporeon's moveset for desperate measures, though I doubt it will be of any use.

If I were you, I'd ensure Blissey remains your Wish supporter.

Eh, problem with subchomp is that he is walled by skarmory and bronzong, who are a hell of a lot more common than weezing. I'd recommend the standard yachechomp over subchomp on a team without sandstorm.
