Pokédex Entries:
  • Santa Red Edition: By opening their heart to the world, Grincheart's true potential has been unleashed. They are an unstoppable force around the holidays.
  • Pine Green Edition: Their heart-shaped body has grown three sizes, bursting open their golden cage and bringing out a fighting spirit.

Description:
Grincheart is a fairly standard Achilles heel Pokémon, most comparable to Palafin in that they start with weak base stats that become significantly stronger upon transforming. Though a Pokémon like Palafin would be too strong for a format like this, Grincheart is more balanced through their slower transformation method, requiring at least three turns and a moveslot concession. Though slow to get going, Grincheart becomes a powerful stallbreaker or wallbreaker once transformed, capable of being a physical or special attacker.

Pokémon: Mayorwho

Abilities: Sharpness/Defiant (Pressure)

Stats: 90/110/100/35/95/70

Full movepool:

80 Power
1765905633879.png

100% Accuracy
16 pp
Slicing move
No additional effects

Based on Mayor Augustus Maywho (duh). I chose to focus on the part where he mocked the Grinch for having shaved his face and the other part later where he gave him an electric razor to mock him, hence why sharpness and the slicing moves. The dark type is there because he's evil devil emoji and doesnt care about the true meaning of christmas. A couple of stuff (namely pressure, taunt, torment etc) is there because he is a bully and bullies do that i guess.

Max The Reindeer
Type: Normal
Ability: Antlers Eye*, Frisk, Intimidate
Stats: 55/55/50/170/65/60 (435)
Moves: Eevee (base) moveset + Wyrdeers Moveset + Fly, Present, Antler**

*Antlers Eye: Literally just minds eye. Nothing different.
**Antler: 20bp/40pp/Normal/Special/
hits once to start, each time it hits once there’s a 75% chance it hits again. Infinitely scales.

Description: An Eevee with an antler tied to its head. The antler gives off a mystical power, boosting the special attack of the Eevee. Max is now omnipotent and the Grinch is scared, Max told us.
The hardest scarfer in the format. This could make tailwind viable just to support this thing.
Or just Agility, Focus Sash, Tera Blast, Psychic.

Does not activate Eviolite or Eeveenium Z, for obvious reasons.

Accuracy: 95
Additional Effects: Hits all adjacent opponents, user Switches Out, 15% chance to flinch, 15% chance to freeze, 15% chance to lower target's Speed by 1 stage
Weight: 78.3kg
Flavor: "[me telling my story how I survived a plane crash and lived on a deserted island for a year] it was crazy
[friend who once got a text from me where I accidentally called the grinch the grink] was the grink there?" That's a Grinch to base this off of, right? I also threw in soupcon of the real Grinch. Also, we should put him in the sled/sleigh thing, seems neat. The Bad Dreams set might seem off, but he did steal christmas in a single night, that's spooky enough for me to have nightmares.

Expected Playstyle: I think you've got three primary options, Pivot Central, Sleeper Pick, and Yoink. You've got 7 switch out moves to pick from and an ability that loves switching, all mind games all the time. He's got no really reliable way to put a Pokemon to sleep, but several unreliable ones, you can gamble on it or just have another Pokemon set things up as part of a teamwide strategy. And finally you can drop him with a mirror herb in front of a dancer and start rolling over them, assuming you got the right buffs for your set.

Downsides: Quad weak to fighting, no priority, no defenses without buffs, no offenses without buffs, and fairly few ways to get buffs. Physical sets don't get much to answer Fighting types while Special sets aren't going to have anything reliable for Poison types and both lack good answers to Water types and other Dark types. Combine this with the limited counters to Steel in the movepool overall and while still strong it has clear counterplay.

Problems: Balancing around the Hidden Ability was extremely difficult, as I originally had it be "When changed" instead of "First time increased." You might think that would make things easier, since it would apply to stat loss as well, but overall just gave it too many options. Now it can at least be reliably hit with a Roar/Red Card/etc to dump any boost.

- PP: 5 (max 8)
- Effect: Sets Spikes. Has a 20% chance to heal 25% of the user’s HP. Cannot be used twice in a row.
Notable Moves: Christmas Cannon, Sludge Bomb, Acid Spray, Strange Steam, Leaf Storm, Chilly Reception, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, Spikes, Clear Smog, Haze, Whirlwind
All Moves: Christmas Cannon, Sludge Bomb, Sludge Wave, Gunk Shot, Clear Smog, Belch, Acid Spray, Acid, Sludge, Strange Steam, Leaf Storm, Wood Hammer, Bullet Seed, Pin Missile, Icicle Spear, Present, Razor Wind, Body Slam, Spit Up, Return, Frustration, Tera Blast, Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, Self-Destruct, Toxic, Poison Gas, Corrosive Gas, Gastro Acid, Toxic Spikes, Spikes, Grass Whistle, Haze, Chilly Reception, Decorate, Stockpile, Swallow, Teeter Dance, Metronome, Rest, Sleep Talk
Overview: Fat Poison that wants to get up hazards. Really bad into Steels and Grounds but you can pivot out with Chilly Reception into a response, at least. Based on the bag the Grinch packed with all the Christmas decorations and presents, giving it somewhat similar flavor to Swalot since it’s a bag that “eats” a lot, specifically Christmas items, and those pine needles are bound to be a nuisance.

Description:
Gimmick utility guy. Has an extremely strong ability for the early game, specially against bootspam (flinged boots have 80BP), letting it basically fire off two attacks on one turn while removing the opponent's item, but when it's switch-ins already had their items removed by it, it then becomes quite weak, as a mon with somewhat bad offensive stats, and one of the worst types ever, can still recover said items w recycle, but its never really worth it. does come w good coverage tho.

“It is only found in the abyssal depths where no other Pokemon can ever live. When people or Pokemon tried to intrude upon Kelypso’s domain, it ruthlessly used its large metal spines to drive them away with the fury of the depths.”

“Because of its withdrawn and spiteful nature, Kelypso lives in utter isolation underneath the eternal waves… In such a depth that not even a single moonbeam can pierce through, all that remains is its faintly shining pearlescent body, basked in the endless dark.”

since the grinch is a character that hates people, i based kelypso primarily off of dead coral and sea urchins to show that unfriendliness and hatred, as well as a parallel between black pearls and white coral (something something black and white world view), i also wanted to reference the nymph calypso, as well as kelpies, and how deep sea creatures are usually blind… i imagined kelypso would be a fairly competent physical wall that can threaten good damage with STAB water moves and punish physical attackers with iron barbs, or it could run a more offensive set that aims to be more of bulky attacker and spikes setter...

i just noticed that this is the second day in a row where i made a fakemon that has its eyes covered with something...

A tweaked Sableye, with slightly better stats to make up for the dramaticaly worse typing, think of it as a Whimsicott Sableye fusion. AND I KNOW that sounds scary, but it's really not that bad with this movepool.

Overview: Based on an argyle sock and a sock’s tendency to get lost. Fiercely practical but the stereotypical boring gift (it was either that or a wild raging boar). I decided to make it a topologically confusing wormlike creature that seems to have an impossible geometry to it at any given moment. It has access to STAB Hidden Power off the back of using Distortion Burst, which is intended to reset Protean through some weird spacetime shenanigans that can’t quite be explained by simple scientific observation.

Flavor: Taking this prompt a bit unseriously...
Y'know what would be a REALLY bad christmas gift? A virus. And also bombs. So it's the best(worst) of both worlds. Also lets me bring up the unfun fact of Bombs having been used as "gifts", so here's a malicious toxic virus-fella that throws noxious bombs at people wrapped in gift plastic.
Role: Toxic-spreader that can abuse it with Merciless and its signature move. Can also serve as an Utility / Stallbreaker-y guy.

Noxious Bomb: Poison Type, Special Move, 60 BP, 100% Accuracy, 16 PP. Ballistic move. 50% psn. 2x power if target already poisoned

Deckherd Large.png

Posting early since my dumbass leaked, and because the full sprite is going to take me sooooo long (it's going to be all 4 like the sketch!)
EDIT: SPRITE DONE (It took way too long—perspective is hard)

Type:
NormalIC_Big.png
DarkIC_Big.png

Base Stats:
79 HP / 109 Atk / 109 Def / 89 SpAtk / 99 SpDef / 49 Spe / 534 BST
Abilities: Fluffy, Technician, (Hidden) Cash Infusion
Cash Infusion: This Pokémon receives a damage boost equal to 2% of the Pokémon Dollars scattered throughout a battle.
Pokédex Entries:
  • Santa Red Edition: No one knows what stores these Pokémon belong to. They randomly appear around the holidays.
  • Pine Green Edition: Deckherd will pester trainers to be spent at a store, but no one knows where to even spend them.
Moves:

  • StatusIC_HGSS.png
Defense Curl, Growl, Swagger, Flatter, Taunt, Agility, Cotton Guard, Cotton Spore, Parting Shot, Switcheroo, Torment, Nasty Plot
Additionally may learn other moves as seen fit, such as the universal moves.

Description:
Oh what joy, a $5 gift card to a store I don't even go to. You could've just given me cash, you know... Bad jokes aside, Deckherd—combining decker and herd—is a herd of fluffy, cheap gift cards that function as bulky attackers. They can use their naturally higher physical attack with a Choice Band, Choice Scarf, or Life Orb, or can try to setup using Nasty Plot and special attacks. Fluffy is the main ability, fitting for a sheep and bolstering Deckherd's natural bulk. Technician might see some use, though this is mostly there for flare with there being four sheep per Deckherd. Cash Infusion synergizes with Make it Rain (and Pay Day, though no one will likely use it). You'll essentially receive 10% more damage on the physical and special side each time you use Make it Rain (or Pay Day) during a battle. Deckherd is pretty slow, but a unique typing, natural bulk, and the ability to be run as a physical or special attacker means that maybe you can find a use for these rather useless gift cards.

Pokedex entries:
"A box that contains no gifts. It lures unsuspecting people and Pokémon, steals their power as a harmless prank, and always returns it later, laughing all the while."

Design:

Nilpresent’s design reflects its strange, draining presence rather than pure mischief. It appears as a sealed gift box wrapped in dull, washed-out paper, as if the colors have been slowly drained away. The ribbon is tight and perfectly tied, almost unnaturally so, never loosening no matter how much the box shakes. The lid never fully opens, instead, thin cracks of pale light seep out from the edges, and anyone who looks too long feels their energy fading, as if their motivation is being gently pulled inward.

Occasionally, a vague silhouette can be seen shifting inside the box, but it never takes a clear shape. After a while, the box subtly brightens again: the wrapping regains some color, the ribbon glows softly, and a warm pulse spreads outward, restoring the drained willpower. This cycle of dulling and brightening visually shows Nilpresent’s nature, it takes energy only temporarily, not out of malice, but as part of its curious, almost considerate behavior.

Pokemon: Papelephant (Papel and Elephant)

Type: Normal

:Swords Dance, Wish
+ universal TMs

Papelephant-The Folded Pokemon
Papelephant are large white pokemon that were once seen as sacred in parts of the world. It's similar to Copperajah in terms of size and body shape despite having a light weight body. It's folds make it look deceptively bulky to ward off predators. While it once held reverence most people realize that the cost of taking care of a Papelephant vastly outweighs any use it has in battle. Nevertheless some hold it in high regard even if the evidence might disagree with them.

Design wise it's a white origami elephant, playing off of the phrase white elephant. Although it begs the question why give it paper attributes at all? The answer is because the worst gift you can get is a piece of paper that means nothing with the giver thinking it actually means something. I'm not talking about a card or an expired gift certificate when I say this, I'm talking about those owning/naming a star after a loved one certificates or that Scottish titles scam that supposedly made people lords and ladies. It's a bad gift for the receiver because they just get a piece of paper that holds no actual meaning and a bad gift for the giver because they effectively got scammed. It's shiny should probably be either gray to mimic a real elephant or a light goldish color to mimic the color of parchment.

Pokemon: Unovan Sableye
1766011601734.png

On the streets of Castelia City, Sableye wander around the holidays eating discarded fruit cake. Due to this, their complexion has changed, they have fruits in their body instead of gems, and they are filled with the spirit of giving.

50 HP / 65 Atk / 65 Def / 75 SpAtk / 75 SpDef / 50 Spe / 380 BST

Abilities:
Purifying Sugar, Prankster
(Purifying Sugar: Takes 0.5x damage from Dark type moves, immune to status conditions)

Unovan Sableye is a great Eviolite user with its strong supporting movepool and bulk. It is more powerful than Crumbleye in some scenarios, but for the most part it’ll be a worse choice due to not being that much bulkier than Crumbleye, and missing out on a fair bit of special attack, speed, and a signature move.

Pokemon: Crumbleye

Upon evolving, Crumbleye becomes physically larger, gains an extra pair of arms, and a grin similar to Mega Sableye. Other than its eyes, which it gains 2 more of, the fruits in its body have become pits. Its upper pair of arms are usually covering its mouth as if it's eating something. The sharp edges of its body (ears, elbow spikes, claws) have become hardened with crumbling nuts.

90 HP / 65 Atk / 75 Def / 90 SpAtk / 85 SpDef / 70 Spe / 475 BST

Abilities:
Purifying Sugar, Prankster
(Purifying Sugar: Takes 0.5x damage from Dark type moves, immune to status conditions)

Crumbleye excels at disrupting your opponents, with a signature move that can be extremely powerful if used right. It creates amazing positioning, can stop sweepers in their tracks, and allows for Crumbleye itself to set up with Calm Mind or Nasty Plot. However, it’s extremely costly to spam, as if you repeatedly use it at the wrong time, you’ll just end up healing your opponent’s entire team. Although Crumbleye could be used for more typical bulky support, mastery of Cake Split will allow it to truly shine. Both abilities are powerful on this Pokemon, with Purifying Sugar removing your only weakness and your status vulnerability, and Prankster being amazing as always.

: Super Fang
1766011397852.png
: Spit Up
1766011402897.png
: Stockpile, Swallow, Parting Shot, Cake Split
(Cake Split: Normal, 24 PP, heals 33% to user and opponent. Reduces all of the opponent’s stats by 1.)

Design:

Fruit Cake is a classic holiday gift that's infamous for being gross, but where does all of the tossed Fruit Cake go? To wild Unovan Sableye and Crumbleye roaming the city! These Sableye find the treat especially delicious, and so they've ended up becoming docile. By the time they've evolved into Crumbleye, they've begun to love sharing and will give Fruit Cake to people they come across. Of course, no one wants Fruit Cake, especially one that's been in the trash and in the digestive system of a Pokemon, but a Crumbleye's intimidating appearance pressures most into taking a bite. Crumbleye are still incredibly greedy, and if you try to take too much Fruit Cake, they can get aggressive.

Tynamo-Too-Far-Gone
Type: Electric-Ghost
Stats: 50/50/90/120/90/90
Ability: Heavens Protection*
Moves: Elekstross Moveset + Shadow Ball, Calm mind, curse, Electroweb, Present,

Description: When your childhood best friend forgets that fish aren’t immortal. So now you wake up to a smelly present. But it has passed on, and a new life for it starts, as your life with childhood trauma also starts.

Also guys he’s upside down but he don’t look like it.

Lelitoccia - "UB-012 Absolution"
Flickering Pokemon
(try looking at it upside down :3)

Typing: Ghost/Rock
Stats
: 61 HP / 43 ATK / 89 DEF / 113 Sp. ATK / 167 Sp. DEF / 97 SPE (570 BST)
Abilities: Beast Boost

Dex Entries:
“It is a mysterious lifeform known as an Ultra Beast. The strange stone-like levitating “body” of Lelitoccia is actually the shadow cast from its true body, which is the subdimensional “shadow” on the ground. It is unknown what its home world is like, but it was once hypothesized that Lelitoccia is a higher dimensional being…”

“According to reports, it appeared from an Ultra Wormhole. Its bizarre stony body floats without regard for gravity, which is capable of moving extremely quickly when Lelitoccia itself is unobserved. By enveloping people and Pokemon within its shadow, it is able to manipulate time and space to feed on their life energy.”

Notable Moves:
Physical.png
: N/A
Special.png
: [Dirac Sea], Hex, Ice Beam, Meteor Beam, Power Gem, Shadow Ball

70 BP | 100.0% Acc. | 5 PP (max. 8)

for some reason i keep getting those angel statuette thingys as christmas gifts even though i’m not religious and i don't want them…… but lelitoccia is based on those as well as weeping angels (and also i just wanted to make a lelielmon :p) i wanted to be safe with its power level so i just dumped most of its stats into special defense, and while it has amazing neutral STAB coverage it does have many very common weaknesses (it does not have levitate because the shadow is its real body) i thought the signature move was cool though and i had lots of fun making this :3

(also for the ultra beasts being invasive species thingy i guess it could be like some kind of bird or vine… or this might be a bit of a stretch but it could represent the increasing prevalence of like tracking and surveillance technology or something idk…)

Again, though it is fun to see people design Pokemon with cover-legendary stat spreads, it will not fit the metagame's power level. I would like to implore you to nerf it (to avoid a veto)! (For the record, I disagree it is very frail. It's not bulky, but those defenses will suffice for an offensive Pokemon.)

*Hope this fits for bad christmas gift. It's based on wrapping paper, which can be notoriouly misleading for whats inside. (you've been baited by a bad gift in great wrapping paper at least once right?)
