[SET]
Physically Defensive (Corviknight) @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Fluffy / Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Brave Bird / Body Press
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog
[SET COMMENTS]
Corviknight's great defensive typing and solid utility moves make it a defensive staple in the tier, checking physical threats like Roaring Moon, Zamazenta, and Great Tusk. Fluffy is the generally preferred ability, as it provides Corviknight with more physical bulk, letting it have a much easier time checking the aforementioned physical attackers, along with Kingambit. Intimidate gives Corviknight a better matchup into Chien-Pao, Mold Breaker Great Tusk, and the Ogerpon formes excluding Ogerpon-H. Corviknight favors Brave Bird due to its higher power and ability to deal significant damage to Great Tusk and Zamazenta, but Body Press can be used to hit Ting-Lu, Iron Treads, and Kingambit. U-turn helps Corviknight's allies by generating momentum, Roost gives it longevity, and Defog removes entry hazards to aid Stealth Rock-weak partners like Chien-Pao and Ogerpon-H. Rocky Helmet punishes Great Tusk and non-Magic Guard Roaring Moon and Zamazenta as well as the many U-turn pivots like Corviknight in the tier, while Leftovers provides Corviknight with extra longevity. Corviknight runs 0 Speed IVs and a Relaxed nature to grants its allies safe entry with U-turn.
Corviknight is used mostly on offense and balance structures that appreciate its defensive prowess, entry hazard removal, and ability to provide slow pivoting. RegenVest Pokemon like Swampert, Manaphy, and Primarina are heavily reliant on their Assault Vest, so Corviknight aids them by functioning as a Knock Off absorber from users like Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Iron Treads. Special attackers like Gholdengo, Zapdos, and Iron Moth are quite threatening to Corviknight, so specially defensive checks like Manaphy, Swampert, and Roaring Moon are much appreciated. Fire-types like Cinderace and Ogerpon-H scare Corviknight; therefore, it requires checks to them like Pecharunt, Moltres, and Primordial Sea Zapdos. If using Fluffy, Corviknight struggles against Chien-Pao and Ogerpon-W, so checks to them like Manaphy and Moltres, respectively, are quite helpful. If using Intimidate, Corviknight benefits from Pecharunt and Scream Tail to take on strong physical attackers like Choice Band Zamazenta.

Physically Defensive Corviknight sets can use Well-Baked Body to check a wide variety of Fire-types, including Cinderace, Ogerpon-H, Moltres, Heatran, and Iron Moth lacking Discharge; however, it loses a lot of bulk and results in worse matchups against Roaring Moon, Zamazenta, and offensive Great Tusk. Specially defensive sets can use Water Absorb to check Ogerpon-W, Manaphy, and Choice Specs Primarina while preventing Swampert and Primarina from pivoting out with Flip Turn or Bulletproof to let Corviknight check Cinderace, Moltres, Choice Specs Primarina, and Gholdengo lacking Thunderbolt, but Corviknight often gets getter value out of its other abilities. Corviknight can run a set with Bulk Up, Agility, Roost, and Power Trip with an immunity ability such as Volt Absorb on hyper offense teams to surprise opponents and potentially sweep teams if lacking appropriate checks.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Electric-type Moves**: Without Volt Absorb, Corviknight gets destroyed by Electric-types like Zapdos and Sandy Shocks as well as Electric-type move coverage like Thunderbolt Latios and Deoxys-S.
**Fire-types**: Without Well-Baked Body, Fire-types like Iron Moth, Moltres, Cinderace, and Heatran easily defeat Corviknight.
**Strong Special Attackers:** Choice Specs Gholdengo and Primarina can 2HKO Corviknight even if it's running maximum HP and Special Defense EVs.
