Pinsir Redux

WIth 100 Base defense and 65 HP you could survive random Aerial Aces

Let's compare its defensive stats:

Heracross: 80 HP, 75 Defense, 95 SpDef; Total: 250
Pinsir: 65 HP, 100 Defense, 70 SpDef; Total: 235

Heracross is better overall, but that 4x Flying Weakness is the real difference, i'm sorry for Pinsir but it will always live as the UU alternative (but i think it could go BL this time??)
 
You don't total it, you multiply it.

Heracross
Special defenses: 7600 (HP * Sp. Def)
Physical defenses: 6000 (HP * Def)
Total defenses: 570000 (HP * Def * Sp. Def)

Pinsir
Special defenses: 4550
Physical defenses: 6500
Total defenses: 455000

Heracross has weaknesses to Fly *4 on the physical side, and Fire *2 and Psychic*2 on the special side.

Pinsir has weaknesses to Fly *2 and Rock *2 on the physical side, and Fire *2 on the physical side.

Therefore, Pinsir takes Physical hits far more easily, but Heracross takes special hits, and takes hits better overall. However, Heracross has *4 total Special and Physical weaknesses and *16 total weaknesses, where as Pinsir takes 2* on the special side, and 4* on the physical side and *8 total weaknesses. This means Pinsir can switch in more easily on more types. Stealth Rock however nullifies this advantage.

Pinsir can use Hyper Cutter effectively. When they switch to Sala/Gyara, you hit them with Stone Edge with full attack. Heracross needs Guts boost up for that. Pinsir also has an advantage with Mold Breaker. Goodbye Gengar/Bronzong e.t.c. Also, if brought in on the sacrifice, it can make a good Rhyperior counter.

I predict a BL version of Heracross.
 
You know, I just realized why Pinsir gets Mold Breaker, and it isn't for Earthquake (although that's nice, too). With Mold Breaker, it can Guillotine Pokémon with the Sturdy Trait. I'm guessing that's what GameFreak had in mind.
 
The only reason there is the move megahorn, is because of heracross. They made that move especially for him cause of his one of a kind big ass horn, that no other pokemon has.

GF should make a move especially for pinsir, as he is special with the only pokemon with powerful pincers on top of his head. Maybe like a "Pincer Crush" move that is powerful like megahorn with 120 power? Or maybe a pincer move that traps the opponent for one turn, they can't escape, and when they attack in between their attacks are cut by half since you can't do much when you're in the air stuck in horns just for that one turn, then next turn you crush and throw them with powerful force.

lol, I just think that would be a cool idea for improving pinsir.
