name: Pivot
move 1: Electro Drift
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Draco Meteor
move 4: Tera Blast / Overheat
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Hadron Engine
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
tera type: Water / Dragon

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Electric- and Dragon-type STAB moves allow Miraidon to force out a large portion of the metagame and gain momentum by pivoting with U-turn.
  • Tera Blast with Tera Water targets Ground-types that resist Electro Drift and would take advantage of a Draco Meteor Special Attack drop, such as Ting-Lu and Iron Treads.
  • Overheat can instead be used to beat Iron Treads without needing to Terastallize.
  • Among its viable Tera types, Water is also Miraidon's best bet defensively, removing its weaknesses to Dragon- and Fairy-type moves and resisting Steel-type moves from Gholdengo and Iron Treads. Tera Dragon is used with Overheat, powering up Draco Meteor when Tera Blast isn't run.
  • Pivot Miraidon should be used aggressively, taking advantage of its high Special Attack to force out foes and use U-turn, wearing down its most common checks like Ting-Lu.
  • When a team is sufficiently worn down, Miraidon can use Electro Drift and Tera Blast or Draco Meteor to clean thanks to its high Speed.
  • Entry hazard setters are greatly appreciated, especially Spikes setters, to help wear down Ground-types for Miraidon. Ting-Lu, Great Tusk, and Clodsire can all set hazards.
  • Tera Water Miraidon appreciates Pelipper setting rain to power up Tera Blast, and Pelipper also checks physical Choice Scarf users like Koraidon and Great Tusk, which can revenge kill Miraidon. Tera Dragon Miraidon instead prefers support from Koraidon to power up Overheat, and it usually appreciates Koriadon running Choice Scarf to revenge kill foes.

GP team gonna fuck you up if you don't read the standards. The content is good 1/2

While you're at it might as well run tera Grass right? Keeps the water resist and gives you an invaluable Ground resist that allows you to turn the tables on all Earthquakes so I don't see what something like Ice has over it. You already hit the Dragons for supereffective damage with Draco and Tera Blast doesn't even OHKO opposing Miraidon so what's the point? It also gives you the neutral hit on Iron Treads. So why Ice over Grass?

I like using tera Dragon and Overheat over Tera Blast on my Pivot Miraidons to have a much stronger hit on basically the whole tier especially terastilized pokemon and Grounds, so that's another option if you want to keep the Dragon type's useful resistances. While A supereffective Tera Blast is better than Draco to deal with the Grounds, this allows you to be less reliant on terastilizing.

Very importantly I think Taunt is at least as good as U-turn, as it completely shuts down suicide leads and the Grounds' attempts at setting up hazards and healing. This move is especially useful for tera Dragon sets because with U-turn you aren't able to beat Clodsire without hazards and are strictly inferior to tera Ice, Water and Grass sets.

Very uncomfortable with this thing not even having Overheat listed

Tera Water is a decent option but 1.) it forces you to tera and 2.) it gets nerfed in sun so you essentially have to run pelipper with it. Overheat gives you the flexibility.

agreeing with ox04 above, ice just seems bad and it's a bad type defensively. Lefties Treads just gonna eat Tera Ice up too.

Electro Drift/Draco Meteor/U-Turn/Overheat seems perfectly fine with tera dragon, with Tera Blast Water as an option on the 4th slot.

Edit: Looks good boss QC 2/2
