Platinum Changing the Accuracy of Hypnosis: The Effect on the Metagame

I think the only thing that Hypnosis has any major detriment to is Gengar, and it's just ANOTHER issue Gengar has to deal with among so many others.
Gengar gained:
-A special tank with equal speed, greater bulk and more attacks to tie with it and possibly KO
-Bullet Punch Scizor
-Hypnosis accuracy drop

These kill its "lead with sleep" appeal, special sweeper appeal and revenge appeal, the three main things you wanted Gengar to do on your team. It's still good; you have a lot of options with Gengar between Counter, Explosion, Scarf "surprise, I outspeed your scarf user," Will-o-Wisping and the aforementioned Destiny Bond trick, but these are all secondary to "how good" having access to a fairly accurate sleep attack on your lead was, as well as not getting prioritied/beaten in a speed tie, with using Gengar. Also lol@Heatran v. Gengar, my HP GroundGar ruins it.

A lot of the other pokemon curbed by hypnosis drop are also suffering from other issues. I think Gengar suffered the most because of them, though, as Gengar went from best lead to having to fight for team space with Lati@s, which is almost strictly better than it.

Funny story, though, the accuracy drop in Platinum has had 0 effect on in-game battles when an enemy tries to hypnosis me. /ragequit

Well, it sucks that the accuracy dropped by 10%, but I don't think it will be less used. Spore or SleepPowder can be only used by Plant PKMN (and Smeargle) but what will happen to Yanmega, Gengar and the rest? I don't believe people gonna use a ChoiceSpec Set for Yanmega instead of the Hypnosis+Protect set.
You forgot that the Games don't have only strategy also luck and risk is sometimes the key of victory.
And anyway, sometimes I'm unlucky and Hypnosis missed once 3 times in a row, so I don't mind if the accucary is only 60%, that wouldn't make a big difference. I'm just happy, that the accuracy isn't below 55%

But still, why the heck did GameFreak/Nintendo changed that !?

@element-trainer: people will use those pokemon less, (personally i have noticed an extreme decrease in gengar since the hypnosis change was implemented into shoddy, and i'm sure it's backed by statistics)

I remember Hypnosis being widely used in RSE, and it was 60% then. So why is a 60% Hypnosis so horrifically gimped in D/P that it's suddenly considered metagame-breaking? Is it because RSE was a slower, tankier generation and players felt more comfortable with the accuracy? Somehow, I just feel as though the drop in popularity is all psychological and that no one has really been bitten by the 10% drop since D/P.

In RSE, everything didn't hit nearly as hard as pokemon in DPP. Scizor's Bullet Punch, Tyranitar's Stone Edge, Gyarados' Waterfall, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf, Life Orb, Lucario, Azelf, you get the picture. All these new things added into the metagame to make it much more offensive and hard hitting. A miss in DPP is punished more easily than in RSE. Gengar could afford a miss as his counter came in in RSE. But now, priority attacks and Scarf means pokemon can bypass his base 110 speed, and punish his frail defenses. Milotic was a great Hypnosis user in DPP, but now Salamence has Outrage and Draco Meteor to inflict severage damage. Look what happened to Milotic now. She's UU! And Yanmega may be kicked out of OU too!
