As the title above states, I would like to advocate for keeping the command 'dexsearch' (or '/ds') the same as it was on PS prior to this change that removed the ability to use the 'all' search parameter. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Specifying, ", all" after including multiple search parameters no longer works, and now the box with search results under the dexsearch command shows instead a clickable message, "Click to show all results."
This clickable drop-down (shown in red below) now also does not work when you click, so it's hard to build teams using this command at the moment:

I've been using the dexsearch command to assist in easy teambuilding for over a decade now - there was really nothing wrong with it in its form prior to this update, and this small cosmetic change to remove 'all' did more damage than good.

It is also actually faster to just type ", all" than it is to stop typing then move your mouse to click the 'show all results' button afterward. If you're using this command multiple times in a row when building a team as I often do, just keeping your hands on the keyboard is far easier than it is to type a longer command, click, type a longer command, click, etc.

If it's slower to use and clunkier to input this updated form of dexsearch, is it not just easier to keep the /ds command as it was?

It seems this was changed recently:

This is what I'm referring to when I say, please keep it as it was. You can see below a screenshot of the /ds command with the 'all' parameter included functioning normally a few days ago (me looking for screen users and dual screens users in gsc ubers):

Please consider undoing this change totally, or at a minimum, fixing the 'show all results' drop-down; dexsearch was fine before it was tinkered with.

Removing the "all" parameter is extremely inconvenient and goes against years of muscle memory. Is there a reason for this change?

Having to reach for the mouse instead of being able to do everything from the keyboard is very annoying - especially if you are doing multiple dexsearches in a row.

I would very much like for this parameter to return. I don't see a reason why it would be incompatible with the new dexsearch system anyway.

I came here to also request that the parameter "all" be reinstated. I understand the sleek and clean usage of the show all button but why can't we type ",all" at the end of a param anymore? Isn't there a way to make it so we can both click a button to show all if we want or type the command to specify that we want to show all? Just feels like an extra step added on especially when trying to quickly search parameters or lookup info. Think this comes into play the most when doing multiple searches in a row like Joey stated. I like the new change but would also like to see the ",all" brought back.

also note this broke /randpoke, you can no longer /randpoke without specifying any parameters (unsure if this was intentional or a bug).

Alex put it perfectly - though the new design is nice, and has its uses (the ability to collapse the results box at will is very appreciated), but it can interfere with old users' muscle memory.

For specific cases in which speed is of the essence and this change's added time can be a downside, Game Corner has multiple games that would be negatively affected - off the top of my head, Pikachu's Mystery Pokemon (in which /dsable parameters are displayed that describe a Pokemon that must be guessed), Smeargle's Mystery Moves (in which /msable parameters are displayed that describe a move to be guessed), Poliwrath's Portmanteaus (in which broad /dsable and /msable parameters are used, encouraging the player to use the 'all' parameter), and Ditto's Who Am I (one of the most popular games, where the entire point is /ndsing to figure out your assigned Pokemon).

Also, /randpoke being broken (neither '/randpoke' nor '/randpoke natdex' currently functions without adding further parameters) is an issue for Game Corner and Survivor hosts, as well Scavengers, assuming that's a related issue. I'd imagine that'll get fixed sooner or later regardless.

TL;DR, if it's at all possible that the 'all' command could be reimplemented while keeping the new functionality by having 'all' just open the list to the expanded form from the start, new and old users would be happy. Hope this is considered, thanks for your time.

Randpoke is a bug with its own bug thread, I’ve made a PR for it and it’s waiting on approval.

I can look at updating my implementation of the search results tonight to re-add all to have the results expanded by default. Broadcasting !ds and similar commands would still have it collapsed by default even with the parameter to prevent spamming users chats. Sorry that this has negatively impacted your workflows.

I personally think the unwillingness to change that people on this website constantly have is a problem and will only become worse when the client is upgraded to preact. Instead of trying to be appreciative of a contribution that was done (via another suggestion in this forum, mind you), the OP begs for the entire thing to be reverted instead of asking about reintroducing the old 'all' functionality on top of these changes. It's quite rude and I've only ever seen people be this open to jump to hating on change instead of trying to look for benefits on this website, which is ironic because you'd think having a community that is so in-tune with its developers would garner the opposite effect.

That being said, this functionality will be revived soon, alongside a fix to /rand[x] commands, thanks to Wifi .
