Pokémon Stadium - Best movesets for each Cup

This is something I've been working for the longest time, and I would really appreciate some insight from Gen I specialists. I wanted to created a movesets list for each Cup in Pokémon Stadium. Bear in mind though those are supposed to be used to beat the game, not to use against other human players. Of course, team and Pokémon level may have an impact on each set, but since Gen I have very restricted options of move, I don't think this matters too much on most cases. Also, some moves requires a certain level to be used, and I will provide the information when needed on each set. I also attached files with the entire movepool for the Pokémon on each cup.

Important notes for all Cups:
- All battles are 3x3
- Sleep and Freeze clauses are always enabled.
- No move restrictions (i.e. Double Team and OHKO moves are fine)
- Sleep is nerfed and last from 1 to 3 turns at most, counting the turn the Pokémon woke up i.e. it can woke up immediately.
- Hyper Beam is nerfed and will always require a recharge, even if it k.o. the opponent or if it misses.
- Partial Trapping moves are nerfed and ends as soon as any Pokémon in the field switches out, but it can still give the player a free switch.
- The AI almost always goes for a Status move before attacking if it has a chance, so Substitute is very good on fast Pokémon.

Anyway, here are the sets I came up with:

Petit Cup
Petit Cup w/ Tradebacks
Pika Cup
Pika Cup w/ Tradebacks
Poké Cup
Poké Cup w/ Tradebacks

I know this thread. I even posted there lol. It's not the same thing. That thread is supposed to be for competitive play, human x human. Mine is casual play, to try to beat the game. The approach is different.

What about tradeback moves? Since this is for single-player, is there really any reason to NOT use them. Off the top of my head there are the following:

-Fire Spin Arcanine
-Fly Dragonite
-Razor Leaf Vileplume
-Dig Kingler/Kabutops
-Amnesia Nidoking/Clefable/Persian/Kingler/Tangela
-A crapton of Pokemon that can learn the Elemental Punches via TM and Flamethrower via the Crystal Move Tutor

I actually made both versions, with and without the tradebacks, for each cup. I just decided to post the one without tradebacks because a feel like some people don't like using tradebacks, but I would had no problem in add both versions to the first post.

EDIT: I updated the first post adding Tradebacks to the Petit Cup and Pika Cup Learnsets. Also decided to move all movesets to pokepaste since it looks better that way and is easier to compare sets, and also added sets to be used with tradebacks. I will update Poké Cup later.
EDIT 2: Poké Cup is now updated too.

Thanks to new data mining on Stadium 2's Move Reminder, some moves previously thought to be available for the Pika Cup are actually unobtainable or requires a higher level:

Nidoking with Trash is unobtainable.
Venomoth with Leech Life is unobtainable.
Venomoth with Poisonpowder is only available at Lv.20.
Persian with Screech is unobtainable.
Primeape with Fury Swipes is unobtainable.
Alakazam with Disable is only available starting at Lv.18.
Marowak with Focus Energy is unobtainable.
Marowak with Leer is only available starting at Lv.17.

I picked up Stadium for a bit after a 20 year hiatus. Much easier now after showdown knowledge. I ripped through Round 1 everything except Petit Cup (haven’t built a team yet there, open to suggestions). Round 1 was so easy I only lost two Pokémon total.

This was my Pika Cup team:

SKULKRAKEN (Gyarados)
Ability: No Ability
Level: 20
- Surf
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Rage

ROCKY (Geodude)
Ability: No Ability
Level: 15
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Substitute
- Explosion

Rental Abra, Rental Kadabra, Filler, Filler.

I only used Gyarados. One time Geodude was needed to wall an electric type.

The next team got me through Gym Leader Castle, Poke Cup, and Prime Cup. Continue every match:

ERUDITE (Starmie)
Ability: No Ability
- Psychic
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Recover

AMITY (Slowbro)
Ability: No Ability
- Surf
- Thunder Wave
- Amnesia
- Rest

COCONUTS (Exeggutor)
Ability: No Ability
- Psychic
- Stomp
- Stun Spore
- Rest

BIGBIRD (Zapdos)
Ability: No Ability
- Thunderbolt
- Drill Peck
- Thunder Wave
- Rest

CANDOR (Jolteon)
Ability: No Ability
- Thunderbolt
- Pin Missile
- Focus Energy
- Rest

ABNEGATION (Clefable)
Ability: No Ability
- Body Slam
- Psychic
- Blizzard
- Soft-Boiled

Now, there are two “illegal” move sets here. Exeggutor requires the move re-learner (available with Stadium 2) to get Stomp and Stun Spore on the same set. However, this team was imported from the Yellow Legacy ROM hack. The game has a re-learner in-game, and Clefable can learn Softboiled in the hack as it does in later gens. If you want a “legal” set just use an Amnesia, Rest, Body Slam, Ice Beam Snorlax in its place. It’s just here as a mixed attacker.

Strategy is simple: lead with either Starmie or Zapdos and they should run through most of the game. If you come across Psychic types, wall them off with Slowbro, set up and sweep. If you come across electric types, use Exeggutor and Jolteon to do the same- wall them off and sweep. Try paralyzing Electrics with Zapdos first before using Jolteon. This is a “clean” strategy so there’s no need to even try to beat Psychics & Electrics with your leads just make the easy play.

Clefable / Snorlax is there for messy team comps that involve a combination of rocks and water types. It can be tough for your electric types but you can still usually default to the strategy of walling them off with Slowbro, provided they don’t carry electric coverage.

On a general note, I REALLY enjoyed going back to Gen 1 for a bit due to its simplicity. It’s relaxing. The later gens sometimes are a bit much.
