Pokemon Pokopia

Mouse mode works really well for this imo. Made adding / destroying blocks a cinch. There are some spots where its tough & I don't like that it remaps the buttons for jump / block placement, but it does the job well enough for this game.
Yeah I've heard its super useful (& probably the best usage of the mouse) but alas I play with the pro controller. The ideal would be able to hot swap when needed.

Anyway, since I was just really mad about the movement systems I'll say: Area 3 finally unlocks the ability to move and rotate items. Still have to break apart and put back blocks, but it's nice to have furniture tweaks. It's weird this was an unlock, it seems like it'd make way more sense to just have this normally and then get the power up for BIG stuff.
All the other power ups in the area (& outside of it, which seemed to unlock at about the same time) make sense for waiting a bit into the game to get, but this one? Odd.

Things I do not have gripes with:
-The Pokemon are all very cute. It's funny how many of them have dialog that read like "dogs that you gained the ability to understand". Although Venusaur & Blastoise sound more like kindly grandparents. Love all the ones that throw out "yos" like a catch phrase
-While we're still using our standard animation library, a number of Pokemon got updated expressions and a few got new climbing animations (like Meowth); I think the ones that got the biggest updates are the "important" ones. It's impressive how many of these I recognize regardless; they really did a smart thing back in Gen 6 investing in all these.
-The selection of non-gen 1 Pokemon. It was cool even in Area 1 finding things like Timburr or Goomy or Combee, and there's weirdos all over.
-The moment you see THEM fly over the first time's really cool.
-They did good with having a big variety of "builds". Area 1 keeps things simple, but Areas 2 & 3 have all kinds of things to either repair, encourage you to put together or just show off (like the SS Anne or the Museum)
-The Museum is so damn cool
-Area 2, in general. I like having more...defined stuff to work in.
-The items are all nice, even the "regular" non-voxel items have good cartoony consistency so it doesn't feel weird when I'm hanging up one thousand Utility Poles or smelting realistic furnaces next to minecraft lava.
-The lore documents (TM) are all equal parts funny and dark.
-If you try to go to Pallet "early" basically says you're too stupid to bother going at this point, which is a great roadblock even if it was put more politely.

See you guys in a few years when Pokopia 2 is announced
