Obviously the biggest problem with this quiz is its inability to distinguish why we strongly disagree/agree with many statements. I know there were a few that I felt compelled to choose one answer for, which I knew would push me to the left, although I was analyzing the statement more thoroughly than the quiz makers likely expected and made my selection based on a right wing principal. Economically I consider myself right leaning.
Also a lot of the statements were just bad, be they to specific, too vague, or seemingly irrelevant and in need of context.
I used to be quite a ways to the left, but that's when I was younger. Ever since I've read a lot of things, and learned more about how the state works in Argentina, so I'm now clearer in my political views.
I thought I'd be loads lower in the Y axis though. I'm really very liberal socially speaking.
I found your quiz very entertaining. Any time you select an answer that dissents from the idea that laissez faire is the only economic philosophy appropriate for society, the test tells you that you chose "the socialist answer." I scored 12/100 incase youre wondering. Austrian School Theory always sounds like "human behavior is hard to predict, so lets not try to do anything and let the market run free."

Actually, I generally don't like quizzes like this. I have both liberal and conservative tenancies and will act in a political situation as I see fit at the time, not because of whether I've been identified as left or right wing.

So I took this test again. I took this test maybe two and a half years ago when I was 16 (I am 19 now), and these were my results:

Honestly I figured that I would navigate more towards the middle with time but it seems that I've done the opposite. I don't think my results would surprise anybody who knows me though.

That's any political quiz ever. It's the problem you get when you have to have a finite amount of choices for an issue with very many valid and nuanced positions. That's why there's so many friggin' questions: some may be bad, but in aggregate, they're accurate enough to give you a general assessment of where you fit in on the social and economic left-right axes.

Honestly, I thought I was more leftist than the quiz said I am. I wasn't sure at all where I was going to be on the y-axis. Interestingly enough, I was the same economically as my religious leader (Pope Benedict XVI), but about five clicks more libertarian. I guess once you get in a position of power, you have to be a little more dominant. I am a somewhat loose Catholic anyway (e.g. I believe in gay rights, etc.). I'm far from Bush, who's the most right-wing figure on the list, and closer to Nelson Mandela/Dalai Lama.
I didn't know Mugabe was a leftist (shows what I know about foreign nations, I'm such a typical American :D), though I didn't know much about his economic policy. Well, it's late. I should sleep instead of analyze.
