Politoed (3 Attack) [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

This set is pretty damn good. I tested it for a bit, and was very pleased. Maybe consider Protect as a fourth option? The extra Lefties recovery was fine, and scouting is always good, too.
 
Hey, thanks man! Protect is a good fourth option because it allows you to recover, and the extra recovery could always be useful. I'll slash it in if a QC member wants me to. Not sure between Protect or Hypnosis; which should be slashed second? Perish Song is slashed first to deal with Baton Pass and that kind of stuff.
 
I would go with Hypnosis over Protect. Protect is better when you are going more defensive with Toxic to get extra Toxic damage, lefties recoveries, and scouting. Hypnosis is better on an offensive set to cripple a potential counter
 
nice. I made a rain team but I value leftovers more than life orb. Consider it.
Also, perish song over hypnosis because the miss hax could cost you the game. A handful of games can be won or lost depending on whether your hypnosis attack hits or not. Also Hydro Pump over Surf if doing a life orb/expert belt set. A surf's 95 base power can be a little annoying if going against defensive pokemon. Life Orb will tire Politoed and should only be used if having a backup rain dancer or inducer, like the cute Vappy.
 
I've used this Politoed with Rest on the 4th slot and Chesto Berry as an item and it worked pretty well, so I think you could mention that.

I remember testing this set (the LO set, sadly I didn't try Leftovers) and I liked what I saw. More flexible / better at 2HKOing pokemon (Like Ferrothorn) than the Specs set. I have no objection with the current item setup since it can be inferred that Leftovers is better. Staying ability > power. Sorry about the delay.

Arguably the best Politoed set that doesn't just sit around or get KO'd immediately.
 
A very comprehensive overview, harsha! Personally I find Encore more practical than Perish Song, since Politoed usually relies on its bulk + Protect to effectively use Perish Song, which this Politoed relatively lacks. Encore finds Politoed gaining free turns to dish out hard hits / recover some health as it locks the opponent into a set-up move. Encore is also more reliable for creating switch-in opportunities for your Sweepers; with Perish Song you have to half-guess when the opponent will switch out within the 3 available turns. Encore screws up BP team just as much as Perish Song imo (it's not reflected by Magic Bounce).

I would therefore place Encore on the main set and Perish Song in AC, but that's up to you.

Hey.

umm, your Set Comments are equivalent to an Overview, which you aren't writing since it's just a set. Describe all of the moves in Set Comments, and discuss other move options, EV spreads, items, teammates, etc. in Additional Comments.
 
I meant Encore / Hypnosis > Perish Song / Hypnosis, but if you've had success with Perish Song on this set and you think it warrants to be on the main set, then that's fine.

Perish Song was the move that I tested this set with, and it worked well for me late game when I needed something to prevent a Dragonite from sweeping me from 4-on-1. I see why Encore is useful as well. I took Hypnosis out of the main set because it had a really low accuracy, which never appealed to me, but if it had 80 accuracy or so, I would have definitely kept it in. Thanks for the advice!
 
Keep in mind that Tyranitar can't exactly switch into a 252 SpA Hydro Pump from Politoed, even in Sandstorm, so I'd remove it from the initial list of counters. I would also like to see a mention of Surf, and why this set prefers the power of Hydro Pump.

Along with two coverage moves, Politoed has everything it needs to effectively break holes in the opponent's team. It also has access to a large support move pool, and one can use any of its many options in the last slot. Surprisingly, not many Pokémon can stand up to a repeated barrage of attacks from Politoed.</p>

<p>Hidden Power Grass has the ability to hit Gastrodon and Rotom-W hard, and can be used over Focus Blast. However, it lacks the raw power of Focus Blast, and you also lose the ability to hit Tyranitar and Ferrothorn hard. There are many options for the last slot on, the move set has a wide variety of optionsst notable being Perish Song and Encore. Perish Song is very helpful against opposing Baton Pass users, (comma) who could become hazardous later in the game. Encore works in the last slot too, as it also has the ability to beat Baton Pass teams, much like Perish Song. However, Encore allows you to bring a sweeper in, so one must always take that into account and set up; it also lets Politoed force a lot of switches.</p>

A multitude of items are available to offensive Politoed as well. Though Leftovers is definitely recommended, oneyou can use Expert Belt to feign a Choice set and hit for more super effective damageallow super effective moves to be even more powerful. Life Orb can also be used, but it should be noted that a Life Orbit can contribute to Politoed losing a weather war. One should always pack heavy Wish support if using an item other than Leftovers. You have rain spelt with a capital in the first paragraph.
I have two other suggestions that are just my opinion; I think "poor Speed stat" is preferable to "lacking Speed stat" in the third paragraph. The second is the repeated use of "one" instead of "you" at the end of the analysis (it reminds me of how the Queen speaks).
