The best Heracross IMO is SubSalac SD Cross, or more simply put MoPCross. Thanks to Close Combat, it became even more dangerous. The large number of priority attackers is a pain though.

Love it, that's what I was talking about on page one. I don't see how Close Combat fits in the set though - Substitute and Swords Dance are part of the set, Megahorn gets the swarm boost (purpose of the set kinda) and Stone Edge is needed to hit Mence / Gyara.

I went other. I like to use an updated version of MoP's set from Advance. Not going into detail though.

Hera is one of the few pokemon that actually doesn't have one of the downfalls of other CB users - relying too heavily on prediction. There are so many situations later in the game wherein once you get him in, something is going to die. It's hard to pass up that kind of power, honestly.

As has been mentioned, CS hera ends up being much too easy to wall if you have the right pokemon (or predict correctly), while CB hera can threaten even it's hardest counters if it gets statused.

I voted for Life Orb.

heracross@life orb
252atk/156spd/100spatk
naughty
-megahorn
-close combat
-night slash
-hp:ice/fire

have you actually used this and, if so, in what instances has hidden power served you well

Scarfcross is an awesome lategame sweeper.
Band cross comes in occasionally to hit things hard, and trap blissey with a stronger pursuit.
Restalk is good for team support, and a free guts boost.
Life orb on heracross seems like a bad idea. Heracross has decent defenses, and isn't fast enough to use life orb effectively(269, 295)
Reversal Heracross pretty much sucks now, with 3 auto weather pokemon, and the plethora of quick-attack moves, etc.
other....? swords dance is pretty decent, and it beats a gliscor without aa. Only for use as late game sweep, or if your opponent's team is really slow.
Personally i like Scarf and Cb, because they are easy to use.

Does HP Ice OHKO Gliscor?...with Life Orb, Naughty, and 100 Sp Atk EVs...

But what could HP Fire be for? CC is neutral on Skarm/Forretress (and Scizor too, but who uses him to wall Hera?) Other than that, I can't think of any 4x fire weak that Hera could need to kill.

It seems to be a 2HKO on Gliscor with all of that considered, though 100 EVs is a bit overkill with Life Orb if that's what you're aiming for. Even with the best numbers possible and SR out, you still don't KO using CC/Megahorn on the switch then HP ice the next turn, so I have no idea about the EVs.

I have used this in [I think] 7 battles, only 3 of which had a gliscor. I worked out pretty well though. With 100 Spatk Evs hp:ice does a minimum of 56% and a max of 66% to gliscor [252hp/4spdef]. It requires prediction though.. I used my normal, predictable move just to try and lure out a gliscor. If they had a gliscor, I would just pretend to be walled and switch to gyarados. And whenever heracross got out again, I would just hp:ice the incoming gliscor. It's not really that effective though since it becomes walled by skarmory/gyarados a lot easier.

Close Combat doesn't 2hko skarmory without choice band. With life orb and hp:fire you're able to dish out different physical hits while not being walled.

QFT

Seriously, ever pokemon that runs Choice Scarf now outspeeds Scarfcross. CBCross is definatly superior, as the only thing that can actually stand up decently is Gliscor. If CBCross gets a status effect, even Gliscor can be 2HKO'd. CBCross is so much better in so many ways.

After factoring in leftovers recovery (you'll need to take out 106.25% of Gliscor's HP after factoring in Leftovers for the first hit), you'll have to take at least 53.125% of Gliscor's HP every with each Stone Edge hit. Adamant CBCross with Guts activate does 46.05% - 54.24% with Stone Edge to a 252 HP 252 Def Impish Gliscor, so that gives you a range of 1.115 (54.24-53.125). 1.115/(54.24-46.05) is the chance you have of hitting Gliscor within that range, and you have to do it twice, so the chance that you'll have at 2HKOing Gliscor is (1.115/(54.24-46.05))^2 = .018534, aka 1.85%. Once you factor in 80% accuracy, things don't look to do unless you have a critical hit, which isn't really TOO much to hope for.

You don't need that much Sp. Attack to 2hKO 252/4 Gliscor. According to metalkid's, neutral natured (Naughty) Life Orbed Heracross does 53.67% - 62.99% with only 56 Sp. Attack EV's, allowing to put that extra 44 into Speed or HP.

With 0 EVs, you still do 48.02% - 56.50%, so theres a shot of a 2HKO, and its guarenteed with Stealth Rock in play.

Thats better damage than I thought, but you still can't OHKO, even with positive nature and 252 EVs. (Damage: 79.38% - 93.50%).

Choice Band Heracross with Sleep Talk.

And for the record, Skarmory is a great way to see if the opponent's Heracross is Scarf'd or Choice Banded. lol.

Medicham is the best Heracross set.

All of the options are viable; it really depends on the team.

Banded cross kills all pokemon pretty much that are not resistant to it or is a physical wall. Besides you can paralyze the opponents pokemon and scarfcross is pointless when he is already faster than alot of pokemon

I'd say scarf, but I want to know why Flame Orb hasn't gotten a mention on the poll. I mean it does the same thing as Choice Band with Guts, but you can use different moves and it can be used to absorb status attacks...
