Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Iron Tail
- Facade
- Ice Beam
- Recover

BSS's resident rubber duck continues to shine in Series 9 as one of the premier special tanks and all-around sponges. Analytic gives a consistent boost to Porygon2's offensive presence against the main Pokemon it checks such as Zapdos, Nihilego, Landorus, Naganadel, Dragonite, Garchomp, and Dragapult. Iron Tail turns into Max Steelspike and allows Porygon2 to beat Nihilego and Mimikyu one-on-one when Dynamaxed, giving Defense boosts to patch up its weaker Defense stat and become even harder to muscle through. Facade is the STAB move of choice and the key to winning the Eerie Impulse Zapdos matchup, as paralysis from Static or Discharge boosts Facade and puts heavy pressure on Zapdos while also giving an option to hit Calm Mind Tapu Fini for decent damage. Ice Beam nails Pokemon like Landorus and Zapdos as well as the numerous Dragons-types of the format. Porygon2 pairs well with Toxapex and Tapu Fini, as it cannot stomach heavy physical hits from the likes of Urshifu-S, Urshifu-R, Cinderace, and Dracovish.

I think this is quite good content-wise, though I have a few comments for improving the focus of the spotlight.
  • "Porygon2's immense bulk allows it to stave off a slew of top tier threats, Zapdos, Nihilego, Landorus, Naganadel, Dragonite, Garchomp, Dragapult, all struggle to break through it." -> Delete and see below
  • "Analytic, coupled with it's coverage gives P2 actual offensive presence." -> "Analytic gives a consistent boost to Porygon2's offensive presence against the main things it checks such as Zapdos, Nihilego, Landorus, Naganadel, Dragonite, Garchomp, and Dragapult"
  • Recover is pretty obvious what it does, don't think we need that sentence there
  • I'd argue for putting Iron Tail and Facade in the first two slots on the set paste and also shifting their respective descriptions in the spotlight up. This puts the two things that make this P2 set unique from any other meta together and at the forefront and relegates the obvious moves of Ice Beam and Recover to the back.
Other than that, good from me. Curious if marilli/Theorymon have any comments to add to these.

Battle Stadium's Singles BSS's resident rubber duck continues to shine in Series 9 as one of the premier special tanks and all-(AH)around sponge of the format sponges. Analytic gives a consistent boost to Porygon2's offensive presence against the main things Pokemon it checks such as Zapdos, Nihilego, Landorus, Naganadel, Dragonite, Garchomp, (AC) and Dragapult. Iron Tail is it's more interesting tool that has grown popular as of late, allowing turns into Max Steelspike and allows Porygon2 to Dynamax 1v1 beat Nihilego and Mimikyu one-on-one when Dynamaxed, while giving Defense (Capitalize) boosts in Max Steelspike to patch up it's its weaker Defense stat and become even harder to muscle through. Facade is the STAB move of choice and the key to winning the Eerie Impulse Zapdos matchup, as paralysis from Static/Discharge Static or Discharge boosts Facade and puts heavy pressure on Zapdos while also giving an option to hit Calm Mind Tapu Fini for decent damage. Ice Beam nails the Ice weaks of format, keeping Pokemon like Landorus, (RC) and Zapdos, (RC) and as well as the numerous Dragons in check Dragon-types in the tier. Porygon2 pairs well with Toxapex & and Tapu Fini, (AC) as it cannot stomach heavy physical hits from the likes of the Urshifu's Urshifu-S, Urshifu-R, Cinderace, and Dracovish.
