"Post-Rock"

For grind I would recommend Dillinger Escape Plan, it's the only grind I can stand.

I never understood "grind" and "grindcore." Those genres seem to have popped up in the last couple years. DEP's first album Calculating Infinity is absolutely incredible math rock, or mathcore, whatever you want to call it. I personally don't like their newer stuff and they really changed their sound, so if that is grind, then I don't like grind.

I was referring to Calculating Infinity.

And grindcore's been around since the early 90s, with bands such as Napalm Death helping to establish the genre. It's basically death metal and hardcore punk mixed.

Ah, I see. In the end, though, I think DEP's unique time signatures precludes them from being grindcore in favor of mathcore. Really, I think all these "X"core genres are getting a bit redundant, but whatever.

DEP isn't grindcore at all, mathcore is definitely more accurate. When I think of grindcore, I think of stuff like Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, as well as countless shitty porno/goregrind bands.

anyway, definitely check out Converge if you want a mix of hardcore/grindcore/mathcore.

i miss listening to dillinger escape plan, and no theyre not grindcore in the least ?_?

if you want grind go for pig destroyer, from a second story window, ion dissonance, etc. if you want the weirder grind/noisecore shit then go for holy molar, the locust, head wound city, etc. if you want the older, punkier grindcore/power violence shit then go for fuck on the beach, man is the bastard, charles bronson, etc.

i miss loud music, indie isnt angry enough sometimes

mathcore sounds like a pretty shitty term to me which is why I refer to them as grind

they aren't grind as much as the bands g80 mentioned but I think all these core terms suck (and mathcore sounds really fucking arbitrary) so they are grindcore with bonus technical shit. you could call it technical grindcore, technical metal, something like that.

I'm not a big fan of all of their work, but Young Team - Mogwai is pretty amazing.

And if you like GY!BE i'd definitely get the new Silver Mt. Zion [leaked/torrent/whatever] blindblindblind off of there is amazing.

The only other thing that came to my mind was Battles, but i'm not 100% sure if that's what you're looking for. I have mirroed by them and it's great.

If you want Mogwai, I highly suggest 1% Of Monster and I Know You Are But What Am I?
