Dual Screens magnemite, the legend, the god. But seriously, its a really good set I used vs abs to fuck over HO since he loves those types of teams and it basically won me the game. It can do so much, from lead vs timburr and can actually doom the opp from the start since you can reflect and live knock off + mach punch, then volt switch out. Or just volt switch from the start for nice chip damage. Hp grass is to help you beat scarf chou which is a nuisance to offense. You also still hit hard as hell with 19 spa, and 15 speed is for outspeed 14 speed mons and under like modest magnemites.

It's pretty cool. Most people expect the NP or utility sets, so this is a pretty cool set. It takes advantage of most fighting types, FerroSpritz, and other typical things Croagunk scares out. HP EVs give it an odd number, 28 Atk EVs bump it up one attack, Def and SpD EVs hit Eviolite numbers so that's good. rest goes into Spe to make it a little faster. Careful nature since you're boosting Def anyways.

I could expect someone to bring Pawn, and instead o giving them a free turn, I got a free turn. LC rolls are dumb and E belt amplifies this, so it needs SR to work. At best this could be called niche, but I love it.

I kind of highly doubt I am being original here since this seems like an amazing choice to me, but that might just be me thinking niche sets are great. Work Up is great on obvious switches and Protects (mainly versus Spritzee) and makes Taillow one of the best late game cleaners imo. I ran this on the same team as E belt Goth so Pawn would be typically gone, in theory. The choice between Steel Wing and Quick Attack came down to how bad Archen was going to screw me over, and only actually matters for Evio Archens. Due to webs however, Quick Attack isn't needed horribly either.

This is the legendary core I've used vs Asterya, it's very offensive and has barely no switchins except for Fairy-Types. The rest of the team was focused on stopping the opposing Fairy-Types by trapping them. Drifloon is one of the best late game sweepers in this tier even if pretty underrated. I really liked this team even if I used it only once.

In the same team, that I used against BLOOD TOTEM, I chose this particular set which was given me by Fran17. This is a great check for Chinchou, while it can hit also Magnemite which is considered one of the best switch-ins for it. By the way also this set is pretty underrated because it has a detrimental speed, but this Eviolite set is very good when you need to check some threats such as Bulky Water-Types. It has also a great matchup against Diglett and lead Drilbur.

This set may be pretty standard, but it's a powerful attacker that nobody besides me has used so far in the SPLC. This is very similar to Tirtouga in its role, but he has a Dragon STAB which is pretty underrated in this tier because if you had wanted to use a powerful Dragon-Type, you would have run Bagon or Gible which are pretty bad. I think this Pokemon can be very good with Sturdy-Juice and it 2HKOs Spritzee when +1, so it doesn't fear any particular counter after the ddance.

What a lordmon LO tenta is. It hits 17 Speed easy, goes to a solid LO number in HP, hits pretty hard (hard enough), and has a fuckload of coverage. Acid Spray is a real move, lowering Special Defence so tenta can blaaast. Hydro hits really hard etc, Giga Drain bonks waters and gets nice HP back considering how low tenta's is by nature. Blizzard fucks up Grass mons, especially if they're caught with a Spray. Liquid Ooze is cool for straight switch-in chicanery vs foo, timburr, etc.

Playtips: use spikes as people run if you get them with the first spray, so stacking hazards is nice; catch people off guard with the last two coverage moves, no one is predicting a blizzard and pulling out Foongus; be sure to pair this with something tenta lures and bops. This loves spritz and isnt big on pawn (and Ferroseed RAILS this thing) so Fighting types are good partners too

I know this set is a little weird, it take some prediction with getting up sprays and using coverage, but I like it because in theory it really really likes some common things in the meta. Fire + Water + Grass cores, usually reliant on the "Grass" portion to stop water types, are broken by Pump + Giga + Blizzard; the ubecommon spritz HATES this thing due to it's naturally fat SpD (17 without evio) and Posion moves, allowing Acid Spray to fly freely. It also does good work v Foo, who cant hit it, and is solid in a pinch v Timburr, although it isnt a reliable answer to those by any means. But yeah try Tenta

This is a great set I used twice in SPLC. It lost vs rowan because of a huge choke and helped me beating Asterya. It's Sub Life Orb Adamant Pawniard. I took the idea while laddering because I played vs Maomiraeniya, I saw it and loved the set when it 2HKOed my Pancham and destroyed my hippo. This is the set.

This was the only thing that would be considered kinda new that I actually brought. I ran this set or a close variation on a few teams and brought it against Blara. WoW, Knock Off, and Defog are really underrated options on Drifloon imo. They give Drifloon ways to break through a lot of its checks and clean up later in the game. The things that don't mind coming in on this set, like Resttalk Chou, are really easily dealt with.

I also thought of some things that were either too gimmicky or I didn't get an opponent that it would have a good matchup against but were kinda cool.

Eject Button Foongus + LO Diglett. This is so much fun to use against someone who relies on Chinchou to check certain sweepers. Basically whenever the Chinchou comes in and uses any attacking move, including Volt Switch, Foongus can come in, take the hit, and bring Diglett in for free to nab the kill. Has potential to be used for messing with others things but not having an Eviolite really sucks.

Taunt Eviolite Aipom. Nice set for stopping Sticky Web, SR users, Defog users, Ferro, Porygon, not be setup bait against Smashers, and probably more that would all pretty easily abuse Aipom otherwise.

Adamant Scarf Drilbur. Used to see some usage but has really fallen off. I used it with Gothita to get rid of Ground immunities. It 2HKO's things like Foongus and the fighters with Adamant. Has a nice surprise factor and can destroy soft checks to it like Staryu and avoid being burned by Ponyta. Planned on bringing it against macle until he johned me and subbed himself out >:[

Pursuit Honedge + Bulk Up Timburr. They form a pretty good core together and Honedge can get rid of a lot of Timburr's checks. Ended up swapping Honedge with Stunky because I didn't really need the spinblock or the 2nd wincon but I still think it's cool.

LO Rock Tomb Pawniard. Great for being able to deal with Flame Body users and can ease prediction but other options are just way more consistent.

Edit: Oh yeah i also used a really bad Mienfoo spread that I wouldn't recommend unless you're really weak to Zig and don't mind risking a 37.5% chance of dying

Taunt is FUCKING AMAZING on Abra, I don't care what anyone says. On HO, you stop Defog and Thunder Wave spam, and also stop recovery. A shame Abra is so frail, but Taunt is so rare atm that Porygon and Vullaby will rarely attack you right off the bat.

Fun lead, Destiny Bond on such a fast Pokemon is often overlooked. Sucker Punch ambushes Abra and can either break its sash or kill it after it's already taken damage. No HP Fighting here so just Destiny Bond on Pawn.

Great on Stall, I run 3 attacks mostly to punish Ferroseed and make sure I have coverage for Taillow, which can be very threatening to defensive teams.

The hippo set is kinda standard, the reason I post this here is because of spread, with the add of adaptability on skrelp, using taunt becames a lot harder than it always was, so I run speed evs on hippo to outspeed skrelp and stills avoid the 2hko from Magnemite flash cannon most of the time, I kinda like that spread on ORAS Stall, In LC a ev spread is like having a new set I think lol
 
I didn't really use anything too innovative during SPLC but here are some cool/underrated sets.


Gligar
Ability: Hyper Cutter

Itemless SD Gligar is really nice because you can spam base 110 Acrobatics from turn 1, which isn't something a lot of people expect. By running Roost and no item, you also get a pretty good Pawniard check compared to SubSD or SD+3 Atks. It's just as much a threatening sweeper as any other Gligar variant, if not moreso thanks to full Acro power from turn 1 and provides more defensive utility thanks to Roost. I'm surprised no one else has used this before.

Archen is another pokemon that has really low usage in TangMa (I used it 3 times; the only other person to use it was Kingmidas) despite being really amazing in the metagame. This set provides a quality check to Gligar, Murkrow, Yanma, and Fletchling, all relatively threatening pokemon in the metagame. It has the longevity to last all match and sets SR, which is always nice. If you run Defog or Tomb, just watch out for Pawn switch ins.


Porygon @ Eviolite

I've never seen someone else use a Porygon in TangMa, let alone this set. Most people would tell you that Porygon is outclassed by Munchlax, who is a better answer to Sun Tang, Yanma, etc. However, Porygon provides a niche that Lax cannot fill; it checks Gligar and stops Chinchou from pivoting all over the place while still checking a large chunk of what Munchlax does, just not as well. It also has a way to punish switch ins more effectively in T-Wave. Very underrated mon imo.

Honorable Mentions:
CM Spritzee: Again not really innovative but it's a nice wincon/Yanma/fighting check and most importantly, is a hard stop to CM/CG Swirlix, who it beats 100% of the time.

Evio Growth Chloro Tangela: Most people choose LO Tangela for Sun teams, but oml is this set good. +2 Giga Drain hits like a truck and between the bulk Evio provides and recovery from Drain, it never really dies. You also have a +2 Tangela even when sun runs out. I've only seen Apt-get use this but its really good.

Endure+BJ Magnemite: A set from later metagames that works splendidly in Tangma. It checks Belly Drum Swirlix and LO Yanma even when hazards are up while providing standard Magnemite pivoting duties.


I might add some more later for other gens if I'm not lazy.

Idk if this isn't standard but I used it in SPLC and it was new for me so w/e. When facing sweep for the first time I had a couple goals in mind: I wanted a team that could fare well vs both stall/semistall and HO, but also avoid using standard crap the would bore me. I came up with this, with the intent of wearing down vullaby on stall and proceeding to set up on half the team, or hopefully getting a sweep with unburden vs HO. He did bring HO, and the only reason I lost was that I did not realize that it could not OHKO pawn w/o rock support, so that's important to note. Other than that great set and really great to use vs stall and as an alternative spinblocker.
