I'm hoping someone will translate the interview soon, but the gist of things is:
- Nintendo owns 72% of Project Sora, Sora Ltd owns 28%
- Basically creating games for core gamers?
- Firestorm am happy

The relationship they'll have is basically the same as say Retro Studios I think. Or maybe the Q thing between Square Enix and Nintendo? I'm assuming Sakurai will have more autonomy as Iwata definitely knows the reason he left in the first place. Expect new IP out of this. Not Smash Bros.

YEAAAH NEW FIRST PARTY DEVELOPER WITH IWATA
just read about this and I'm so stoked

EDIT:
just a little update that gonintendo came across:
Iwata has confirmed that the current project that that Project Sora is working on is not a new Smash Bros.. “It’s not Smash Bros. I asked for. …I can promise an experience that’s different from anything [you’ve played] up until now.”
I found that part a bit dissapointing because I could've sworn in a pretty recent interview he stated the smash bros. would be perfect for the ds... oh well. still hyped :O

Iwata has apparently been privy to a glimpse at the game's design document. "I'm scared to ask, but how is the content of the new plan?" asks Sakurai. Iwata's response is: "From our perspective, it's not something that overlaps oddly with something that would come from Nintendo or those close to Nintendo. He later describes the project as, "It's something that can be made because Nintendo is backing you up, but is also something that Nintendo could not make."

The new game may have leanings towards core players. "If one were simply considering effective use of funding," explains Sakurai, "we'd have went with a plan similar to Touch Generations. But that's not I wanted." He later adds, "We want to make something that will be wanted even by the more hardcore game players, and something that offers new ideas."
So 2011. I have not been this excited for a Nintendo game since Brawl :D

interesting indeed. I only have hope because the project is expected to be unique, thus we cannot be disappointed by looking at comparisons. However, this unique idea may not be appealing at all and not something I would look forward to.

I'll keep my eye on this, but I'll hold back hype until I know what exactly I'm getting hyped up for.

Awesome news. The Wii's hasn't had too many games lately that have looked interesting, this'll hopefully bring it back.
