OP stolen from Leer in RU, who stole it from Lord Alphose and xzern from NU.
Welcome to an experience unlike any seen before (bar in NU and RU), PU Player of the Week. This weekly thread hopes to capitalize and promote good players in the metagame, while helping newer players by giving advice and showing effective strategies in the metagame.

Magnemite
Most known for: Being a lazy QC checker, hosting a bunch of threads on the forum (Viability Ranking thread, Speed Tiers, Don't Use That, Use This V2, Next Best Thing, PUPL Usage Stats, PU Role Compendium), currently undefeated in PUPL (3-0), PU Forum and Room Moderator, PU council and C&C team.
Favorite Pokemon: Serperior
Most Used Pokemon: Zebstrika
Twix: How did you come to join Smogon?
Magnemite: I started lurking Smogon (the main site, not the forums) after finding it around the middle of DPP, like in 2008. I was like 11 at the time, so I never really got into it, though I "made" a team consisting of Gyaravire and a few of my favorite mons, wishing I could easily actually get the Pokemon in-game. However, I never actually went on the simulator or forums at all until June of 2013. I played on Showdown throughout the summer, but it wasn't until the release of XY until I started to be active on the forums.
Twix: When and How did you become part of the PU Metagame?
Magnemite: Around the start of August of last year, trc told me to join #pu on IRC. I joined to find the channel had like 3 people in it. trc told me to play PU, since it was a new metagame that didn't have many people in it, so if we played it we would have a really good opportunity to be on the council and shape the metagame. From there, we recruited a few more of our friends (including galbia) and eventually were chosen to be part of the council.
Twix: What is it like to be part of the PU council and QC team?
Magnemite: I like being part of the council because I get to have a say in what happens in the metagame regarding tiering and regarding the community as a whole. QCing things can be fun, though a lot of the time it's annoying when people ask you to QC their analyses when you're in the middle of something (and then call you lazy, ahem TONE114 ;-;)
Twix: What's your favorite and least favorite part of the PU tier?
Magnemite: My favorite part is the fact that unlike most tiers, nothing (barring sun but that's more of an outlier than anything) is really broken at the moment, so you never really have to over prepare for anything. This has more to do with NU being mean and less to do with PU itself, but the tier is really, really stale at the moment and could really use some new Pokemon to spice things up, which is easily my least favorite thing about the current meta.
Twix: Which Pokemon would you say is Underrated / Overrated?
Magnemite: Overrated: Poliwrath, Armaldo, Lickilicky
Magnemite: Underrated: Carracosta, Rotom-F, VIGOROTH, Mightyena, Regice, Simisage, Simisear
Twix: What's your favorite archetype in the tier?
Magnemite: Offense, not like I use anything else lol
Twix: What change would you make the the tier if you could?
Magnemite: DROPS. So many mons that have been decently close to dropping would be really cool additions to the metagame. A few examples: Rotom-S, Gorebyss, Muk, Primeape, Mantine, Bouffalant, Granbull, Miltank, Cradily, etc etc. Any NU players reading this please don't use any of these mons :(((
Twix: Which players do you see as rising stars in PU?
Magnemite: There's a few people, but in particular Twix and Detect Marowak have been improving a lot lately.
Twix: What is some advice for the newer players to the tier?
Magnemite: Use the resources available to you. You can make a pretty solid team just by looking at the VR, and there's also the teambuilding shop, sets viability rankings, role compendium, sample teams, and plenty of other things available to you. Plus, most room staff would be willing to look at your team and suggest changes and tell you what you're weak to if you asked them.
What are your thoughts on this week's interview? If you have extra questions for Magnemite, feel free to ask them in the comments, and if you want a player interviewed (better not be yourself gasquakee), feel free to leave a post on my profile.
