Yeah, I expected there to be more counters than checks for Mushy but, there were some respectable checks to submit too and as always you guys are awesome with them. Musharna is slowly rising up in the VR since a good Psychic type is needed to (as I've stated b4) take up Mesprit's mantle. It won't ever live up to how good it was but, it will suffice enough.

Honorable mentions:

Checks
Scyther - 10
Drifblim - 8
Pinsir - 5
Raticate-Alola - 1

Counters
Metang - 9
Sandslash-Alola - 5
Probopass - 3
Ferroseed - 3
Aggron - 2
Quagsire - 2
Clefairy - 0

With these last 2 weeks upcoming for this season, gum is leading the charge for our 2nd Top Assassin with 8 points but, jonago is right behind them with 7 points and this victim can change everything! Defending Assassins Toy Time King & Sir Pin have 4 points and 2 points, respectively. Keep it up you two if you want to defend your title!

ALERT ALERT!!! For this week, 2x points is the reward! I repeat, 2x points is the reward for this upcoming victim!

Week 9

The victim to kill dead this time is...............

Carracosta @ White Herb
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Shell Smash
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet
- Hydro Pump

Condition: At +2 Atk, +2 SpA, +2 Spe (1 Shell Smash and White Herb used)

Katy

Banned deucer.
gastrodon

Gastrodon.png
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Earthquake

Gastrodon serves as a counter to +2 Carracosta with consumed White Herb as Gastrodon can easily come in on its Hydros and Aqua Jets due to its amazing Ability in Storm Drain, which in Return, strengthens up Gastrodons Scald.
Scald is able to damage Carracosta and has also a possibility to burn it as well. Stone Edge isnt a 2HKo either and Gastrodon can always come in on this Carracosta and heal up the damage and spread out in Return
damage with either Scald and a threatening burn or its move in Earthquake. Furthermore Gastrodon can also Toxic Carracosta, but this is not really necessary as Scald / Earthquake will do enough damage to kill Carracosta in the process of the game.

Calcs:
0 SpA Gastrodon Scald vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Carracosta: 127-150 (43.9 - 51.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Gastrodon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Solid Rock Carracosta: 109-130 (37.7 - 44.9%) -- 6.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
after a Storm Drain
+1 0 SpA Gastrodon Scald vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Carracosta: 189-223 (65.3 - 77.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 144-170 (33.8 - 39.9%) -- 91.2% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Carracosta Aqua Jet vs. Storm Drain Gastrodon: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever
Carracosta Hydro Pump vs. Storm Drain Gastrodon: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Tangela @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Tangela take easily all hits of carra at + 2 and ohko with giga drain (sry I haven’t calcs, if I can use my pc, I would do it). So it’s a counter to carra

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Circle Throw
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Poliwrath is a good Costa counter. You don't care for Water STAB thanks to Water Absorb and Stone Edge does 35 max to Poli. Poli then proceeds to Circle Throw and the Costa sweep dream is dead.

Persian-Alola @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Thunderbolt
- Parting Shot

Persian is a solid check to Carracosta as it outruns even after Shell Smash and OHKOes almost every time with an unboosted Black Hole Eclipse. Thanks to Fur Coat it’s never 2HKOED by Aqua Jet, although Stone Edge has a chance to and Hydro Pump always will. Hence it can’t switch in and is only a check.

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Fur Coat Persian-Alola: 96-114 (35.4 - 42%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Persian-Alola Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Carracosta: 286-337 (98.9 - 116.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
+2 4 SpA Carracosta Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Persian-Alola: 288-339 (106.2 - 125%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Fur Coat Persian-Alola: 238-282 (87.8 - 104%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Protect
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Toxic

Quagsire is the best counter to that Carracosta set because even after several Smashes, Quagsire won't be 2HKOed. That's what it has over Gastrodon in my opinion. At +4, Gastrodon doesn't come in on 2 Stone Edges anymore while Quag does. I know, that's not the condition, however, when thinking about what's the better counter to a certain Pokemon you have to think about every circumstance!
The set I'm suggesting is the one with Protect over Scald/Waterfall since you can Leftovers-recover yourself up to the point a Hydro into a crit Hydro won't kill you.

Giga Drain KOs Carracosta and Stealth Rock chips away at the opponents team.
Nominated as a check.

- Giga Drain

Giga Drain KOs Carracosta and Stealth Rock chips away at the opponents team.
Nominated as a counter as it takes 2 Stone Edges to beat Cradily and Giga is a oneshot.
Not sure if this is allowed, but I wanted to clear up the misunderstanding. Max spdef cradily does not take 2 edges and has a 6.3% chance of ohko from +2 Costa, meaning it is hardly a counter or even a reliable check cuz it cant switch in. Maybe change to max physdef to make it look better but it's still 2hko so not that reliable.

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Cradily: 322-379 (85.6 - 100.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Simisage @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Superpower
- Gunk Shot
- Rock Slide

Should've gone for the +speed nature, pally. Simisage makes for a good check to Carracosta. While there's no chance in hell this guy's going to want to come in on a Stone Edge, Simisage is one of the few that can outpace Carracosta's doubled speed naturally, hitting 331 vs. Carracosta's 326. Seed Bomb with Life Orb instead of a z-crystal guarantees a KO, dealing 113.4 - 134.9% compared to 87.1 - 103.8% (18.8% chance to KO). I know standard Simisages run a special attack like Leaf Storm, but nothing worse than getting caught out with lessened special attack, or missing

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Protect

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Ferroseed: 80-95 (27.3 - 32.5%) -- 7.4% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 4 SpA Carracosta Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Ferroseed: 76-90 (26 - 30.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Ferroseed Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Carracosta: 73-87 (25.2 - 30.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

To be a successful counter to Carracosta under the conditions laid out by Oathkeepre, you need to be able to switch in while it's at +2; in short, take two +2 attacks.
Ferroseed does this remarkably well - it's able to switch into Carracosta even at +2 and stall it out with Leech Seed and Gyro Ball, and thanks to the health regained by Leech Seed and Protect it doesn't really fear Carracosta getting extra boosts either.

Electrode @ Choice Specs
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Foul Play

Electrode here is a solid check to Carracosta, able to avoid a Stone Edge/Hydro Pump thanks to its astronomical speed and take an Aqua Jet at +2, before killing with Volt Switch or Thunderbolt.

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Electrode: 169-201 (64.7 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Electrode Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Solid Rock Carracosta: 319-378 (110.3 - 130.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power Grass
- Volt Switch

Offensive check. Cannot come in on anything since a +2 Stone Edge kills, 2 Aqua Jets do the same, and a +2 Hydro Pump kills also. By safely coming in, it can live 1 Aqua Jet at +2:

+2 252+ Atk Carracosta Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Manectric: 192-226 (68.3 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

and OHKO right back with Thunderbolt:

252 SpA Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Solid Rock Carracosta: 301-355 (104.1 - 122.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

We now have a new leader for Top Assassin with 1 more week left in this run. Can someone catch jonago with their 11 points? In second place with 1 week to go, gum is not too far behind with 8 points! Well, since it is the last week, 3X POINTS IS THE REWARD!
REPEAT, 3X POINTS THIS WEEK AND WHOEVER LEADS AT THE END WINS THE TOP ASSASSIN HONORS FOR SEASON 2!

Week 10

The victim to kill dead for the last time this season is............

Throh @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 128 HP / 104 Def / 148 SpD / 128 Spe
Impish Nature

Have fun with this one folks!

Sableye @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Night Shade
Sableye functions as one of the most reliable counters to most Fighting-types in the tier, including Throh. Sableye is easily able to stop Throh from setting up (Sableye is still able to Taunt first since it isnt affected by Mold Breaker), force a Knock Off/switch in, forcing Throh to take Rocky Helmet damage or simply be forced out. After that Sableye is simply able to continuously do this when Throh tries to setup, effectively making it almost obsolete in the MU. After Sableye is able to burn Throh its job gets even easier.
