Purugly sweeps Baton Pass team.

Not bragging about skills (anyone skilled with BP teams would screw over a team with no pseudo/hazer like mine), but I thought this was rather amusing.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

(no comment on how bad this team is in practical battles...I've managed an 11xx record using stuff like this due to common newbs)

6-6 - BATTLE START!

Drifloon pops out, and Ninjask threatens me right off the bat. It seems like countless times I've been destroyed by Metagross that have been BPed to...I figure I'm just screwed again, but I'm not one to quit battles ever. I'll even go through the humiliation of letting six of my Pokes get swept purely to be a good sport (people going that far is surprisingly rare, unfortunately). I'm not expecting this battle to be any different honestly.

Anyway, even though it's clear Ninjask is gonna Sub, my ghastly balloon calm minds for the heck of it... actually, not the smart thing to do. If anything I should've tried to take advantage of Protect instead. It uses Swords Dance as I destroy the sub. I worry he might Sub again, so I throw a Shadow Ball... but he uses Protect. At this point I'm guessing he'll BP, so I'll throw out a weapon that hurts nearly all, that being Will-O-Wisp. Out comes... Heracross. Oh noes, now it's double-powered!

jamesm: lol

Ooh, those words will come back to haunt you. I DO have some guys who can stop sweeping decently, so I'm not too worried about at least taking this guy. Of course, Driloon's dead. It misses its first Stone Edge, so I throw a decently powerful ball of spirit into it. Heracross remains at 16% health and burnt.

6-5 jamesm

Out comes my sweeper-stopper (in theory), Purugly.

Purugly used Fake Out.
Heracross lost 16% of its health.
jamesm's Heracross fainted.
Purugly lost 10% of its health.

Ninjask threatens again, as expected. It throws a Substitute as I Return. Next turn I attempt to zonk Ninjask with Hypnosis, but it only uses Protect. I correctly predict that he'll predict that I'll try to Hypnosis again (in other words, I predict he uses Sub), so I destroy the Sub. I like how Life Orb doesn't damage you when it comes to breaking subs. Ninjask is now down to 25% (no leftovers, eh...). I still can't risk a Sub blocking a Hypnosis, so I use Return as the baton gets passed to Porygon-Z.

jamesm switched in Porygonz (lvl 100 Porygonz).
Purugly used Return.
Porygonz lost 72% of its health.
Purugly lost 10% of its health.
Porygonz's leftovers restored its health a little!
Porygonz restored 6% of its health.
---
Purugly used Sucker Punch.
Porygonz lost 34% of its health.
jamesm's Porygonz fainted.
Purugly lost 10% of its health.

Out comes Ninjask. Now, if Ninjask uses Sub, I'll just break it and I'll be free to pull off a safe Hypnosis. James is smart enough to know that, so he protects once for a speed boost, then proceeds to BP again...Cresselia appears. I score a critical hit for 66% damage. I figure my Jolly Purugly should easily outspeed that even with a speed boost. However, this isn't quite enough to take out on with another Return, so I let it catch some zzz's. Then...

jamesm switched in Starmie (lvl 100 Starmie).
Purugly used Return.
Starmie lost 76% of its health.
Purugly lost 10% of its health.
Starmie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Starmie restored 6% of its health.
---
Purugly used Sucker Punch.
It's super effective!
Starmie lost 30% of its health.
jamesm's Starmie fainted.
Purugly lost 10% of its health.

I figure I've got the match easily in the bag at this point. However, a Pokemon that I fear greatly pops out of its Pokeball: Snorlax. I hate paralyzing Body Slams more than anything on the face of the earth, and being a tank on top of that? And Cresselia's already asleep.

I go for Slutbunny. Snorlax uses Curse...perfect. Even though Lopunny's dead, I'm free to give it a Choice Band via Trick as it dies to Body Slam.

Now Snorlax is stuck on Body Slam, so I sent out Mismagius and prepare to sweep the rest. Ninjask comes out again as I use a Calm Mind. It protects once, and BPs over to...Cresselia? It falls to a Shadow Ball.

4-2 Haste

Opponent quits. Urk.

Awesomeness goes to:
-Purugly making great use of its 4 moves.
-Burning the incoming Heracross (it helped rather than hurt) combined with some luck.
-Trickeroo screwing over Snorlax

Lameness goes to:
-Ninjask for being so lame all the time =P
-my allowing a Swords Dance to be passed to Heracross by using Calm Mind rather than threatening to KO Ninjask every turn.
-lack of use for Spiritomb and Honchkrow (who I <3 for its Scope Lens + Super Luck)

That was an interesting match but a team with just one baton passer isn't really a baton pass team. Your opponent was also pretty bad.

Yeah of course clad calls his cladugly and says that no one else should use him so...anyway it was an ok warstory but the fact that he wasnt good and he forfeited makes it seem worse. I like the team though.

I examined his record and it was in the 1200 range. Not good by any means, but he's not a clueless battler. =P And, if anyone doesn't mind... explain Clad and this Cladugly. I guess Clad is a user who's used Purugly?

Clad isn't ... friends with smogon. Some people dislike him although I know him and like him. I disagree with him on some issues but anyway, his favorite pokemon is Purugly, Absol and Crobat. However he loves purugly which he calls cladugly and thinks no one else should really use him.

I felt kind of the same-- bad warstory (in lack of excitement and very weak opponent), but great pokemon. Purugly worked out sweet. Wish Honchkrow got a shot out there this round, but you are cool for having him on the team anyway.

+1 awesome avatar
+1 unique team
+1 suckerpunching smug starmies
+1 Honchkrow

-1 short story
-1 lack of actual log

Though it was really short, you did a pretty good job for what it's worth. Nice to see the big boss get some time (though you didn't actually use him, I just like seeing him on teams). I like seeing something that isn't "props & slops", since that reminds me of a 12 year old's pokemon tcg tourney report or something.
