And voting has concluded! Sorry this round took so long, I had to extend the voting time since we would've had a total of 2 votes using the original schedule. I'll make sure to fine tune the schedule and post more reminders in the discord when a round goes up.

The winner this week is:
:exeggutor-alola:
:archeops:
Chloe and their Alolan Exeggutor!
:archeops::virizion:
with jcbc and their Virizion in a close second!
I'll have the leaderboard and OP updated shortly

Week 3:
For week 3, Valentine's Day is coming up and our next Pokemon is struggling to find a partner to share it with.

The next eligible contestant looking for their perfect match is someone you all know and love:

Virizion!

Given its recent publicity stunt involving PU's suspect test, Virizion has proven itself to be
somewhat of an attention seeker in the metagame. Virizion's great Grass-type means that it
loves to spend time out in nature, allowing it to create concern for Water-, Ground-, and
Rock-types that normally act as defensive walls in the tier. However, its Fighting-type also
shows its bravery and passion for justice as it defended Pokemon from humans in legends.
Virizion also has some amazing agility, as a base 108 Speed stat is nothing to scoff at. While
certainly not the strongest of the Three Musketeers, base 90 in both attacking stats is fairly
good, especially considering that it has boosting options in both Swords Dance and Calm
Mind to help it, leading to versatility and unpredictability. Virizion is out here looking for love
and hopes to find a partner who is equally dedicated to the justice it is so passionate about.

Since Virizion has such set variety, you may want to clarify the set you have in mind when posting. Submission periods will now last until Friday, while voting will take place until around 6pm Sunday. You may reserve a Pokemon in a post as long as you submit a set within 24 hours, otherwise you forfeit the reservation.

Good luck and have fun out there cupids!

Palossand @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Water Compaction
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Shadow Ball
- Shore Up

Very selfexplainable by itlself, palossand walls flying types such as archeops, talonflame who attempt to revenge kill virizion or sit on some mons that may try to wall virizion such as weezing or garbodor in addition to that it put rocks up to make virizion breal rhrough teams faster.

mesprit felt like a no-brainer to me. weezing is a defensive powerhouse that can sponge any hits mixed LO virizion can go for. enter defensive mesprit, who does 80% min to weezing with psychic with no special attack investment. u-turn is a great move that offers momentum into virizion vs mons like spdef gigalith, guzzlord, absol, and steel-types. this match also takes advantage of virizion's justified ability on the dark types that might try and hit mesprit with a super effective stab move. mesprit is also packing healing wish, which lets virizion come back in and wreak havoc all over again

Could a case be made even for future sight support? I tried it out and beat a weezing ez

Regirock @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Body Press
- Thunder Wave

Virizion doesn't like Talonflame/Archeops/Charizard/etc so Regirock is here to switch into them (physical Charizard anyway). Regirock doesn't like the potential Willo but you can just trade that for a good Thunder Wave to cripple the probably Talonflame. Also spreads paralysis on other things, so Virizion can sweep easier. Also sets Stealth Rock, as many mons like Virizion enjoy having the chip damage. Teambuilding is my passion.

Coalossal @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin

Virizion doesn't like things like Talonflame or Weezing, which Coalossal is completely happy to come in against, not fearing a burn from will o wisp and being able to spin away hazards freely on them. While Coalossal doesn't have the ability to come in on an Archeops Stone Edge or Earthquake, it trades that for a chance to cripple it with burn if they u-turn or dual wingbeat trying to get momentum or outright defeat the Virizion. While virizion can come in easily on the water, ground, and rock type moves that coalossal lures in

Lycanroc @ Life Orb / Choice Band
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Psychic Fangs
- Accelerock

Lycanroc is a great offensive partner for many Virizion sets. Its ability to offensively
check Fire- and Flying-types is near unrivaled and it really appreciates Virizion's ability
to beat Ground- and Rock-types like Palossand and Regirock. Mixed Virizion works
well with AOA Lycanroc as a pair of breakers but sets can even be changed around
to make one of them a set up sweeper with SD (or CM in Virizion's case) while the
other one wears down resists.

End of week 3! Here are the potential matches!
jcbc and their Palossand
sexywooper and their Mesprit
Akir and their Regirock
hamek and their Coalossal
SergioRules and their Lycanroc

The votes are in and this round's cupid is...
sexywooper and their Mesprit!
:mesprit:
:virizion:
:lycanroc::virizion:
I came in close second with Lycanroc (not to toot my own horn)

Our next loveless single looking for its partner is none other than

Smogonbird itself, Talonflame!

Falling so steeply down from the highest ranks of OU, Talonflame now sits as the
most used Pokemon in PU. Sporting a base Speed of 126, Talonflame is quite hard
for many partners to keep up with. Its other stats, however, are very middling,
which is mostly to be expected for an early route bird Pokemon. Talonflame has
become much more fashionable with the turn of the generation, now practically always
wearing its Heavy-Duty Boots. Its Flame Body ability can also sometimes keep potential
love interests away, as Talonflame has a terrible habit of burning those who get too
close to it. Nevertheless, Talonflame can be an extremely supportive partner for many PU
Pokemon with Will-o-Wisp, Toxic, U-turn, Defog, and Taunt, or it can go on the offensive
with Swords Dance and powerful STAB moves to defend the Pokemon it cares about.

I'm still trying to figure out the ideal timeframe for submissions and voting, so for now, submission periods will now last a week, while voting will take place for the following 3 days. You may reserve a Pokemon in a post as long as you submit a set within 24 hours, otherwise you forfeit the reservation if someone else takes it after.

Have fun!

Sandaconda @ Life Orb
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 176 HP / 152 Atk / 36 SpD / 144 Spe
Impish Nature
- Scale Shot
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rest

On phone and I've lost my math for why I ran 156 attack but the last 36 ever didn't make a real difference on any vaible mons I checked and threw them into SDef

Fun team idea, sand breaks fire, rock, steel types really well. Just need a good fairy/where answer and You're basically set with a fun lure either way team

Palossand @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Water Compaction
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 48 SpD / 4 Spe or 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Scorching Sands / Earth Power
- Shadow Ball
- Shore Up

palossand helps take on pesky rock types like lycanroc and regirock, choice-locked electric types like heliolisk and togedemaru, and steel types in the event that you arent packing fire stab on talonflame. in turn, talon helps vs grass types like virizion and alolan eggy that threaten out the sand castle. colbur berry on palossand lets it be a decent knock absorber for talonflame, whose boots are an invaluable asset. together, the two form a nice core for disposing of fighting types, which compliments pokemon like heliolisk that can also provide a water immunity since they share a weakness

:bw/whimsicott:
Whimsicott @ Choice Specs
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Energy Ball
- U-turn
- Switcheroo

whimsicott provides momentum and forms a volt turn core with talonflame and you have a good shot at winning.

:ss/heliolisk:

Heliolisk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Voice
- Volt Switch
- Surf

Heliolisk and Talonflame form a neat VoltTurn core, with Heliolisk taking on Waters like Lanturn and Vaporeon that give Talon a hard time, while Talonflame is able to beat Grasses and Fightings. In addition, both can wear down each other’s checks, and Talon can burn stuff to soften blows for Heliolisk.

Mesprit @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- U-turn

Specs Mesprit acts as a fantastic wallbreaking partner for Talonflame.
Mesprit helps break through things like Regirock, Sandaconda, Lanturn,
Guzzlord, Vaporeon, and Weezing for the bird, while Talonflame's support
options help check things like Ribombee and Silvally-Steel while also
deterring Knock Offs and U-turns that would usually do a lot to Mesprit.

Submissions are now over! Here are your potential matches!

Please vote for two submissions, ranked in order of preference and no self-votes:

2. Palossand
