With PUWC VI playoffs on their way, we open this thread to give the opportunity to the Regions to share sets or teams from the tour that you're fond of! Explain why you used what you did, the thought processes, maybe some cool sets you had planned to use but never got the chance to, etc!

Hello.

Some highlight teams from the myriad built for PUWC excluding Moth Teams:

https://pokepast.es/90dce1953166ca84 Band Mudsdale :Florges: :Dudunsparce-Three-Segment: :Qwilfish-Hisui: :Rotom-Mow: :Cramorant::mudsdale:

This team functions on the very simple premise of Glare everything with Dudun (broken btw), get your spikes up and then 2hko everthing with Band Mudsdale. You have Florges as well for an extra wincon if things go slightly awry. Team is extremely strong. Give it a go!

https://pokepast.es/61da22d2cffb5864 Weird Milo Pivoting Balance :Electrode-Hisui: :Ambipom: :Bombirdier: :Palossand: :Goodra: :Milotic:

No removal but competitive Milotic will pick up some kills as well as use coverage no one expects. Silk Scarf Ambipom hits like a monstrous truck. Team is relatively easy to pilot and a great team to use to learn the meta.

https://pokepast.es/62c41dd5e743066a Silk Scarf Dudun go Boom :Mudsdale: :Amoonguss: :Dudunsparce: :Persian-Alola: :Pawmot: :Rotom-Heat:

Slightly riskier offensive Dudun Team which can be very hard to manage. Has reliable breaking and requires offensive gameplay and momentum to win. Para Spam with Dudun is an extremely viable playstyle.

https://pokepast.es/95043142d7b09bb5 Grassy Terrain :Thwackey: :Qwilfish: :Rotom-Heat: :Hitmonlee: :Grafaiai: :Espeon:

Don't let anyone tell you Grassy Terrain sucks. It doesn't. This terrain didn't lose a single puwc game and I don't think it's lost a tournament game either. Still a very strong archetype imo! Taunt Hitmonlee can also 6-0 a lot of teams.

https://pokepast.es/3f8d7f3b8e32e9f4 Broken Havalugg Volt turn :Salazzle: :Lanturn: :Avalugg-Hisui: :Bombirdier: :Florges: :Goodra:

Lanturn sucks on paper but it 1. Safe switch in for Salazzle 2. Safe switch in for Rotom Heat.

This is a classic Havalugg semi stall type team with Salazzle. It can be difficult to pilot and offense relies on Tera Ghosting your Avalugg early in the game. This archetype seems completely busted to me!

Have fun kids.

With Spain’s season in PUWC being over with what I consider a nice score (11-13) I wanted to share some of the things I cooked for this tour and the approach we went for as a newcoming team. Turns out during this tour I developed a defog frosmoth addiction that went unnoticed until it got banned so a big part of these teams are outdated now. Thought I would post still cause most of the teams I made had some weird techs/niche mons on it I want to showcase. Apart from these teams, we also used some of the teams DDJoe posted above and Platum’s Persian Stack.

Brute Bonnet Double Psychich :brute-bonnet: :hoopa: :espeon: :braviary: :rhydon: :arcanine: W
Cute team I made for Seroo and ended up working pretty well. He wanted to load brute bonnet and trying to justify it I came across this team in which the role compression of ground ressist + dark ressist + being able to switch into milo and bruxish was really well appreciated. The double psychich core worked at overwhelming dark types + alolaslash on tests and felt pretty strong. Due to dark types being well pressured I decided to go for tera ghost on hoopa>fighting for having extra breaking power. Defog braviary might be an overcook to some extent but I thought it fitted well here. I thought about it as some sort of defog frosmoth that allowed me to do instadmg to florges and threaten with +2 attack in case mblast dropped spa. It did its job.

Ebelt Tauros-Fire :tauros-paldea-blaze: :amoonguss: :frosmoth: :goodra: :bruxish: :mudsdale:W (seroo) + W (me)
Team I made for Seroo’s second game vs gulch. Noticed he had high cramo and milo usage (+ low mudsdale usage) and thought belt tauros could be funny for luring those if scarf was successfully bluffed. The rise of SD bruxish made the bluff more viable. To be honest I ended up putting these 6 together like 15 mins before the game and the team worked so I decided to load it again on my game vs memphis, this time after being succesful on tests, and won again (with luck tbf). Team works nicely and Tauros does its job at breaking certain cores even if you aren’t able to bluff scarf. Tera electric is there for securing that CC+wild charge into full def milotic kills. Against most of the teams bruxish can go crazy once the water ressist dies.

Specs Hoopa+Floatzel :floatzel: :hoopa: :qwilfish-hisui: :mudsdale: :frosmoth: :arcanine:L
I made this team for swiss and idr if I ended up loading it or not but it helped me top the ladder so I thought it would be a good pick for some game in pools. Luis loaded it vs Lana and it didnt work badly but wasn’t able to take the win bc of a couple missplays in the endgame. The team is kinda self explanatory, Floatzel makes bulky water ressists switch in, flip turns into specs Hoopa and specs Hoopa tries to shred through cores.

BandBraviary + Pawmot :braviary: :pawmot: :persian-alola: :mudsdale: :rotom-heat: :frosmoth: L
Team I made for Seroo to use on his 3rd game vs Suzuka. He pointed out at looking at his scout that he had few flying resists and, even if that may not be that relevant in this tier, banded braviary came to my mind as a funny option to load. It actually has some really nice calcs and qualities that I believe can justify using it. 125 base attack means you do a shit ton to Mudsdale (who actually has a 55% chance roll of getting 2hkoed), CC coverage means you can also threaten Rhydon and 4th move rock slide lets go 0hko Heatom. This greatly allows easy pawmot endgames. Funnily enough Suzuka loaded double intimidate into Seroo but the team version I gave him had sheer force>defiant bc I sent him the paste wrongly :p. Luckily Suzuka never switched into Braviary with his intimidate mons and the bird could effectively break his team but an unlucky sequence at the end of the game made my goat Seroo get reversed swept by Arcanine and lose the 3-0. Still a great season from him.

Specs Tatsu + Sub Florges :tatsugiri: :florges: :passimian: :qwilfish-hisui: :mudsdale: :frosmoth: L
Team I made for Calmmind to load vs Fusien expecting some sort of bulky team with no dragon ressists. Specs tatsu is really strong when you dont have the tools for it and I though it could surprise Fusien who is a great player but doesnt main PU. Florges set is really just its usual set with sub>psynoise. At checking Florges, lots of teams at the moment rely on forcing tera with a toxic user + using smth else that beats/pressures florges once tera’ed. Goodra can also force the tera to dtail once florges loses its fairy type. Thought sub could be interesting to eliminate the necessity of clicking tera while facing toxic users. You lose the immediate capacity of 1v1ing milotic but im pretty sure you still win the 1v1 AND you can take the 1v1 opportunity to easily lure a water type attack and switch into tatsu giving it insane breaking power. Fusien kinda loaded what we expected but a couple mistakes at the beginning + a string of bad luck made us lose this game.

CM Hbraviary Antihavalugg Offense :ambipom: :rotom heat: :qwilfish-hisui: :tatsugiri: :mudsdale: :braviary-hisui: L
Not gonna lie, this one might have been an overcook, still think there is some interesting potential here. I made this for the calmmind vs mind gaming match with one main thing in mind (no pun intended): giving my player an instawin mon vs havalugg+goodra+bombierdier structures. That mon was hbraviary. Made this sub cm terafairy set thinking on avoiding goodra’s toxic + dtail and being able to set up on bombirdier. At the same time dazzling gleam got same nice offensive calcs with tera. I believe this set has some potential vs most fat structures but it’s true that it feels really passive vs other stuff. The team mind gaming brought wasnt exactly what we expected but I believe we still had decent MU.
Calmmind is a great player but his unexperience in the tier+him facing a player this solid meant he wasnt able to take the win.

Sticky Barb Florges + Poliwrath :florges: :poliwrath: :zoroark: :arcanine: :mudsdale: :frosmoth: W
I made this outrageous Florges set like 1 month ago out of pure boredom and put it on some weird fairy spam team. To my surprise it won every test game I played with it so I thought I could build something more serious with it that properly aimed for breaking balances by tricking sticky barb into fairy resists/milotic. Sticky Barb means you are kinda forced to click trick on T1. This sounds terrible but I don’t consider it unviable by any means. Scarf Florges is really common so there are lots of things that would be scared of you on lead and that would want to switch into some bulky mon that can resist moonblast, getting tricked in the process. One of the reasons why I fitted zoroark in this build was to further increase this bluff effect since the possibility of the florges being actually scarf zoroark can scare out some mons letting you get a clean trick. Apart from this I found on tests that, even if you dont get your T1 trick you aren’t really completely doomed. Getting chipped by your own item obviously sucks and makes you look like a fucking idiot but there isn’t much the opponent can do to stop you from tricking vs some passive mon. I used this vs Hiko bc I thought that in addition to poliwrath it would be able to get nice MUs vs the stuff he usually loads and it went pretty well. Got lucky on a florges vs florges war that I won with a crit but I believe I had greater chances there and I was happy with how the team worked.

And that’s kinda it. Really happy with how the tour went for us (even tho it was lowkey stressing for me LOL) and looking forward to next year edition!!

don't really have a whole lot to write tbh, just wanted to share teams. really proud of myself for going 6-1 but having that 1 be the season ender feels pretty terrible, especially considering despite the game overall being fine it was also by far my worst performance of the tour. nothing really to blame but myself in that regard but it happens, felt incredibly burned out this week, played a lot of high pressure games this tour so i guess it caught up to me mentally lmao. anyway, even though my pupl was terrible from a record standpoint i've been saying that my grasp on this tier is probably close to my ou for a while and its nice to see it reflected this year. I've been told my approach is pretty unorthodox compared to the meta which I dont really understand but thus is a ou main playing lower tiers I guess. again i just want to showcase some teams and briefly explain how it functions, not doing any in depths or game breakdowns.

https://pokepast.es/53e5a75dcf5dca43 - :snorlax::goodra::orthworm::avalugg-hisui::bruxish::florges: (Band Brux + Lax)
Wanted to use lax tbh and i hadn't tried those lugg no ground structures so I figured I'd give it go. freezai spams offense no matter what he plays and i figured he'd load terrain. tailored this a lot to what I was personally comfortably playing with vs terrain then just subtracted things to play better vs other mus. not a terrain cteam by any means but felt pretty comfortable with it into the evident it was brought, i do overthink i over estimated the effectiveness of certain aspects vs the archetype which lead to some scary moments but was able to find the win path

https://pokepast.es/fd1f0d78090328b5 - :ambipom::rotom-mow::qwilfish-hisui::mudsdale::milotic::sandslash-alola: (AV Muds + SD Qwil)
i forget who i played already here but i remember i just wanted to use av muds, very nice in particular situations so i wanted to make something around it. also wanted use sd qwil-h since it was something i noted being cool from scl. kinda just made a general bo? the team is just focused on momentum building and trading vs the right things with sd qwil since its able to open holes for ambi late. the slash set is for snow + frosmoth mostly so can prob change it

https://pokepast.es/2538c58fc1578a35 - :toedscruel::tauros-paldea-blaze::Dudunsparce::Amoonguss::zoroark::goodra: (Toeds + CB Bull)
this was my take on this eject pack + breaker spam teams that have been getting used. really wanted to try out toeds because its actually decent at getting off but realized that it functions as a enabler better. also wanted to use sparce and cb (boar) bull so slapped those guys on since most of toeds switchins are covered by those two. i was cb boar until like 20 mins before the game but switched to bull for the speed after getting binked by giri on ladder. you kinda just play this like offense ngl, be as annoying as possible

https://pokepast.es/fdbd069dd011cab3 - :floatzel::rotom-mow::snorlax::mudsdale::goodra::sandslash-alola: (Float + TB NP Mow)
So this team is probably the one i'm most proud of from a thought process perspective. iirc waters looked really good into the scout and i've been wanting to use floatzel again, i also saw np tb rotom-heat in some seasonal game or something when i was looking through and thought why dont i just do that with mow. This was probably peak goodra spam so i went for tera fairy to open it up for floatzel. i knew muds was probably going to be my ground here and was wanting to use rest talk since scl so i kinda went from there. scarf goodra was another thing i was wanting to use and the primary offensive core already opens up teams a fair bit for it to clean while also defensively helping out.

https://pokepast.es/edfa22fc8285f818 - :espeon::palossand::arcanine::orthworm::milotic::bombirdier: (Belt Espy + Curse K9 Spikes)
for tiebreak vs india i kinda knew off rip i was using arcanine because it probably is the best at being a safeguard vs more offensive structures in the tier on its own. since i wasnt sure what raj experience was in the tier I fell back on the type of structure that I used a lot when learning pu. hadn't used spikes at all yet either and i think they looked good on the little amount of info i had iirc? wanted to use specs florg but pivoted to espy for the speed, decided on tb fighting to hit the slash structures india was using. psychic > shock to actually hit amoong lol. other than that kinda just a typical loor spikes esque build. side note but its really cool seeing how popular scarf bomb has become considering ive never seen that set until me and esteb4n thought of it one day like a year 1/2 ago, not taking credit just like seeing that people realized the mon was better than the set it was using a while back.

https://pokepast.es/b9ef2b8a1dade88d - :rhydon::bombirdier::pawmot::amoonguss::cramorant::Dudunsparce: (RP Ground Don + Memento)
a big thing i hadnt used up to this point is rhydon, so i decided to just fully fall into abusing that since I wanted to use RP don since pools lmfao. ground gets some crazy ass calcs, i forget the roll vs amoong but i think +2 and rocks kills or is super close to it off the top of my head?. i was looking for ways to make setting up with it easier so i experimented a bit but decided on memento bomb since it was the most consistent with actually being effective. cram was something i hadnt used yet either so was aiming to fit him on here. dudun took a while to get to because i was looking for a rocker and a breaker. not rly sure how i landed on pawm tbh but saw this set from dugza and thought it was cool because i didnt wanna use lo personally + knot helped enable don by hitting some of the things that can live hits from +2

https://pokepast.es/0fc9f3fafc580b27 - :venomoth::grimmsnarl::mudsdale::sandslash-alola::passimian::milotic: (Specs Moth + Sub Grimm)
tbh i wanted to use specs florg but i struggled to make a team with it i found interesting so i played around with a lot of other special breakers. goal mostly was for moth to open up for grimm sub grimm to win. double competitive since I didnt have a ghost type. milotic is kind of a pick your poison between ice beam and alluring, both have advantages, notable one in my game which mattered was ice beam is a lot better into amoong teams. i figured esteb4n would bring breakers, esp bull, because thats kind of the line of thinking i expect with him from when i mentored him so i wanted to use both muds and milo. kinda struggled putting a team together because burnout started clouding my thought on like how to fit the particular type of breakers i wanted + milo and muds + pivots to enable those breakers. i dont think this team is bad by any means but i wasnt overly happy with my pick and i ended up loading this due to it being the structure i was able to test the most, not sure if the other options wouldve faired better.

i said i wasnt doing in game breakdowns but just two things from this game that stand out because it just happened was I missed how important keeping spikes up was when i had slash in vs toeds. if i tera ghosted and started spamming spikes, i probably am able to force sacks from him faster than he can from me which wouldve helped a lot. additionally, pass vs float turn, i had the right idea but clicked the wrong midground. knowing esteb4n i knew he wasnt going to go amoong on pass and he was either going to stay in and flip or hard hoopa. cc was def wrong since knock is the way better midground covering float and hoopa, no idea why i cc'd, that was terrible. other than that this game is just kinda average like not egregiously bad but upsetting that it caused me to lose my 0 & my team losing in that matter but such is mons.

heres the two teams i was debating before my game other than the one i brought. dont have any other bonus teams because i lost my entire builder last tuesday ;( these two are sorta unfinished i guess, i didnt super look over the sets like i do right before my games to make sure things make sense, so there might be some brief errors or things i missed that arent cohesive but im not feeling like polishing post tour rn

https://pokepast.es/16d413d8fe2a6a52 - :ambipom::mismagius::grimmsnarl::mudsdale::milotic::sandslash-alola:
this is the scarf ambi team i was talking about in discord, completely a xcx/gum/younes set. scarf ambi def isnt amazing but the coverage ambi has as a mon does give it utility as a scarfer. knock/uturn/axel are pretty good moves to have access to so it def has value. etern suggested missy in the specs florg slot, which allowed grimm to be cb. overall this team was actually really cool and I did wanna use it but i only was able to play two games with it in the end so i wasnt confident since it plays different from what I was testing

https://pokepast.es/5ed939b0e96f5273 - :zoroark::ambipom:/:passimian::florges::mudsdale::milotic::sandslash-alola:- https://pokepast.es/fe48a6a9fc0ede10
same kind of deal about swapping specs florg to something a bit faster. the current paste has scarf ambi but pass is interchangeable i think, unlike the other team, scarf ambi doesnt play a relevant role just happened to be what I had on the paste at the moment of writing this but i tested both slightly. zoro opens for cm florg, tb florg also can open for zoro and the scarfer of choice in some cases.

dont really have a drawn out outro. I like building the tier but things can feel super samey due to factors that ive preached about in the past. really tried to be unique compared to what people were using in the current meta but when teams require so much defensively it can be a headache which is possibly a source of my burnout idk, hopefully yall enjoy my attempts at being creative

Anything was fun, enjoy it :)
I build 54 team during this season at least, but i just want share my stuff or some good thing for mates.

:braviary::rotom-heat::mudsdale::qwilfish-hisui::dudunsparce::passimian:
https://pokepast.es/bfa0134bf4b1b4c5
Pools vs Supraz, idk supraz bring what so i edit drud scl w1 team, someone make espeon over guno since guno rise, but i want bring braviary to punish defog and it is hard switch in with good corvage, sadly i got haxed but late game i haxed back.

:decidueye-hisui::palossand::grimmsnarl::rotom-heat::qwilfish::sandslash-alola:
https://pokepast.es/cfd955682cc2dc9d
Pools vs spell, i was plan use alcremie team(:alcremie::palossand::magneton::ambipom::amoonguss::cramorant:) but i writting an essay and never sleep in that day, so i plan bring one soild team, idea is sd decid lure amoonguss and make qwilfish/grimm sweep, in my mind, resttalk>sub in bu grimm because grimm have unique defense type.

:golurk::milotic::ninetales::sandslash-alola::mesprit::probopass:
https://pokepast.es/dddb085d78017958
Quarterfinal vs gulch, i quit my teamgroup so i forgot how i think but finally i bring a hail offense, s/o kyuss give me probopass set, sadly this 6-0 by jolt.

:bombirdier::rhydon::sandslash-alola::venusaur::kingdra::florges:
https://pokepast.es/5ad9830ae4a0c4b4
Tiebreak vs stories, ix want see kingdra so i bring this "koraidon" he bring in scl, i did some edit from his scl team and did a fast game.

:eelektross::poliwrath::palossand::sandslash-alola::sceptile::dudunsparce:
https://pokepast.es/87f30bc81c553394
Semifinal vs cyril
Because i forgot matches time so when i know i playing on saturday i'm worried so i fast build a team with eel, s/o etern give eel set and poliwrath did well.

:crabominable::sandaconda::rotom-heat::sandslash-alola::florges::persian-alola:
https://pokepast.es/27e109341f8771a5
Final vs platum
I found platum hard deal fight type and rely sandslash, plan bring crab because it is a fight type can corvage palo/amoonguss both thanks for ice stab move, jolly bu can win milo, it is a unique breaker, i'm surely it is my most serious prep during PUWC but ice hammer and overheat not a real move, i should use ice punch and tera blast fire.

Other team/set i want share

It not a bad experience, at least i have fun of building them, thanks my mates can trust me in all time, hope everyone enjoy this game.

Cya then.

BAN GRASSY TERRIAN AND DUDUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't do a whole lot of building cuz I mainly just focused on my own slot but here's two teams I wanted to share :3

:rhydon: :espeon: :bombirdier: :milotic: :typhlosion-hisui: :decidueye-hisui:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9pu-887319

When PUWC started, I really wanted to use Band Bird, and it was a mon I enjoyed using all the time anyway. Fire-types have been good in PU for a long time now, and I kept getting smoked by Typh on ladder (I'm bad) so it gave me some inspiration to use it. Bulky Espeon has been great at being hazard control against Rhydon/Muds so I figured why not just try to use Bird and Hyph together as they break for each other pretty well. Milotic is a slow pivot to get them in and Decidueye was just extra removal since both my breakers were rocks-weak. I kind of got lucky on MU in my game vs Taka but still think the team is fine. I originally wanted to use Naclstack > Rhydon cuz of Salazzle but it's way too passive. It worked in some games tho.

:salazzle: :espeon: :milotic: :rhydon: :bombirdier: :pawmot:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9pu-887808

I wanted to make sure Fusien just used something solid for his game vs Mind. Our thought process for this game was to use something solid but with tech to beat the stuff that Mind likes to spam/reuse. He uses a lot of Hisuilugg so we figured Gknot Pawmot would be good tech (also hits Rhydon / Muds but not the primary targets here). But then we found out he's played against that set before so there's a chance he'd scout it. Then, Mind loaded none of these mons! But regardless, before Fusien's game I told him Mind is likely to assume that Pawmot is Scarf rather than Bombirdier. Fusien played super well by bluffing his Pawmot set and positioned himself super well to make use of what I told him irt set knowledge. So I owe the success of this team to him (yes I am the biggest Fusien glazer IDGAF).

IMO PU is in a good spot right now, I think the only thing I'd advocate still is Salazzle (Dudun as well but not as adamant about it) ban but even then it looks like the tier has adjusted. Salazzle just feels annoying / boring / lame to play against. hahahaha...heres my free Toxic! You cannott do anything about ittt....hahahhaaaaa.......

Jokes aside, PU = good. Congrats France!

I built about 10 teams this PUWC for my teammates. Most of them didnt get used however. Here are my favorites from most recent to oldest (ignore the cringe pepe nicknames) :

1767290082242.png

https://pokepast.es/df560b65aa977e42
This is grassy terrain with 2 physical sweepers, 2 special with tera fairy to avoid getting dragon tail’d. And dudunsparce as an emergency bulky mon to tank stuff. Hitmonlee tanks Moonblast from scarf Florges and taunt recoveries and phazing moves. Dudunsparce tanks +2 Fireblast of Salazzle, rest is speed creeping Scarf Pawmot. One could use more speed for scarf Grafaiai or scarf Persian.

1767290170694.png

https://pokepast.es/4d5065619598970f
This is a snow team using the electric/ice coverage. Aloslash tera electric is really nice to beat Milotic and not getting para’d. This Rotom-Heat is weird but I just like it. Pawmot is incredible in this kind of offense.

1767290274944.png

https://pokepast.es/a169a90c17ed4b97
This is some bulky team that switches into most mon. I like defensive Sd slash to not get bullshited by some set up sweepers thinking you can just spikes and not kill them. I like scarf Tauros in this kind of team, adding defensive utility. Team is a bit passive, but it’s fine I think.

1767290389871.png

https://pokepast.es/fd3190b711f67cfb
The idea here is to use Tatsugiri to block Flip Turn, which is a common play against sub salazzle. Specs Tatsugiri is cool, it can get surprise KOs on Amoonguss or Cramorant. Tera Dark Salazzle is good to block Psychic noise, Psychic fang etc. Covert Cloak florges is because I like to not get body slam parad, poisoned by sludge etc. Tera Blast ground helps vs Pawmot, Croak, Salazzle, Aloslash…

1767290667180.png

https://pokepast.es/1324ebfd5f57b3e1
This is a double fighting core team, using Virizion zen headbutt to lure Amoonguss for Scarf Pawmot. Tera psychic Virizion can be cool to get a surprise KO on mons like Bruxish, Pawmot. It's also just nice against the high Tera Poison usage. The speed and power of Scarf Pawmot is awesome. Revival Blessing can be clutch.

It was a lot of fun to come back for the PUWC and playing, building, watching PU. The meta is good, even if Pawmot and Dudunsparce are giga threats. Hf
