ZU Pyroar

the one fear that trembles
is a Contributor to Smogon
Pyroar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unnerve
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Hyper Voice
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

We're not lion when we say Pyroar shines as an offensive Fire-type in the ZU tier, using its excellent offensive typing to threaten half of the metagame while also providing good utility. Taunt blocks Stealth Rock and Healing Wish from Mesprit, Stealth Rock from Regirock, Recover from Naclstack, and Defog from Drifblim. Will-O-Wisp cripples common switch-ins like Whiscash, Regirock, and Muk, which can otherwise withstand its attacks. Tera Ghost provides Pyroar with a way to block Rapid Spin from Hitmontop and Sandslash, as well as Close Combat from Hisuian Sneasel, Choice Scarf Passimian, and Choice Scarf Toxicroak. Pyroar fits nicely on both bulky offense and balance teams that take advantage of its Speed tier and ability to spread burns. As Pyroar is frail and lacks defensive utility aside from its resistance to Fairy-type attacks from the likes of Choice Specs Whimsicott, it benefits from pivots like Basculin and Mesprit that can bring it in safely, with the former threatening Rock-types like Naclstack that would otherwise wall Pyroar's attacks. On the other hand, Mesprit appreciates Pyroar getting rid of Steel-type foes like Magneton and Orthworm, which can take advantage of it.

We're not lion when we say Pyroar shines as an offensive Fire-type in the ZU tier, using its excellent offensive typing to threaten half of the metagame as well as its good utility moves. Taunt blocks the usage of Stealth Rock from Mesprit and Whiscash oblivious, mention like regirock or sum, Recover from Naclstack, denies Defog from Drifblim, and Healing Wish from the former Stealth Rock setter. Will-O-Wisp cripples common switch-ins like Whiscash, Assault Vest Samurott often specially offensive, mention regirock, and Muk, which can otherwise withstand its attacks. Tera Ghost provides Pyroar a way to block Rapid Spin from Hitmontop and Sandslash, as well as Close Combat from Hisuian Sneasel, Choice Scarf Primeape passimian, and Choice Scarf Toxicroak. Pyroar is nicely slotted on both bulky offense and balance teams that use the advantage of its Speed tier and the the ability to spread burn to opposing foes. As Pyroar is frail and lacks defensive utility if you still have space to spare i’d suggest mentioning its fairy resist which is useful as an offensive check to specs whimsi, which stuff like idk spiritomb or sigma sneasel appreciate. if you don’t have space it’s fine as is, it benefits from pivots like Basculin and Mesprit that can get it in safely, with the former threatening the Rock-types like Naclstack, that would otherwise wall Pyroar's attacks. On the other hand, Mesprit appreciates Pyroar getting rid of Steel-type foes like Magneton and Orthworm, which can take advantage of Mesprit.
