[QC READY 0/3] Nidoking

UPDATE

I retired the special set and put a mixed set and mixed scarf. I'm using an EV spread of 120 Atk / 136 SAtk / 252 Spe for reasons stated in my last post. If anyone has a better EV spread - please let me know ASAP and / or post in thread

Also as for a physical set, I've been pondering it, and I have Poison Jab / Rock Slide / Sucker Punch / ???. If anyone has a last physical move or has reasons for or against using an all-out physical attacker set, post in thread

After a discussion with QC members, we have decided that even though Nidoking got a nice buff to its attack stat, a specially based set is probably the way to go. Something akin to the BW moveset, like:
-Sludge Wave
-Earth Power
-Fire Blast
-Ice Beam

This is primarily due to the fact that Nidoking just has an easier time breaking through walls with its wide coverage of Earth Power / Fire Blast / Ice Beam, compared to its rather shallow physical coverage and split in EVs. Poison Jab could be used as a 4th move for breaking Special walls like Blissey (and probably deserves an AC mention as result), but at that point it is just better to invest fully in Special Attack and go with Sludge Wave.

If you have any examples/logs of a physically based mixed set performing exceedingly well (better than its specially based counterpart), feel free to post it, but as of now we see little merit to a physically based set over a specially based one.

ok good thing i didnt trash the special attacker set ive made changes

if i can, i may try to obtain logs tomorrow because its getting late here but other users feel free to help out if you want a physically based mixed set in the analysis

Not QC or anything, and its not nearly as big a deal now with defog, but I'd definitely mention in pros
that Nidoking doesn't give a damn about almost any entry hazard, absorbing TS, resisting SR, spikes are very rare, and has Sucker Punch to sort of work its way around SW.

I've started a UT thread for Nidoking here, so more relaxed discussion of Nidoking's viability and stuff can be taken there. However, I would still like to hear from others as well as QCs about this preview and sets and whatnot. It is still ready for QC checks.

Been using Scarfking on a alt to see how people would take it, they don't expect it at all with his wide moveset although I feel with Scarf he needs entry hazards and Modest to secure kills on targets that either he's revenge killing or mons you know he can take out to help your team. The moveset is pretty much what Dragonuser suggested, EVS i ran was 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spd
