Quagsire
[SET]
name: Unaware Wall
move 1: Scald
move 2: Recover
move 3: Toxic
move 4: Earthquake / Haze
item: Leftovers
ability: Unaware
nature: Relaxed
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
[SET COMMENTS]
With a good Water / Ground typing and fairly rare ability in Unaware, Quagsire is a capable wall in the OU metagame. Unaware makes Quagsire resilient to the army of setup sweepers in the metagame, such as Excadrill and Hawlucha, by fully ignoring their boosts. Though passive, Quagsire is one of few Pokemon to have access to Toxic, giving it a way to whittle down its foe's HP. Scald gives Quagsire the opportunity to cripple physical attackers, while Recover provides Quagsire with a reliable source of healing. Earthquake is Quagsire's most powerful STAB choice and allows it to not be completely walled by Toxapex. However, Haze allows Quagsire to further shut down any sweepers that cross its path. Despite its walling and stalling capabilities, Quagsire's stats are actually rather mediocre, meaning immediately powerful threats, like Galarian Darmanitan, can burst past it. Quagsire also has an unfortunate quadruple weakness to Grass-type attacks, leaving it vulnerable to common coverage moves from Pokemon it should otherwise wall, like Gyarados's Power Whip. It is also vulnerable to Dracovish's Fishious Rend. Quagsire generally finds its place on stall teams that appreciate its ability to stop setup sweepers, but cannot be used on most other playstyles due to its relative passivity and lack of other utility. Quagsire makes a core with fellow wall, Ferrothorn, as they both are able to cover each other's weaknesses.
