Here is my team I call it RAIN-O-SECT named after Genesect. This is my first serious OU team that I made all on my own enjoy!!!
Politoed @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Protect
- Perish Song
Politoed is on the team to set up rain that most of the pokes benefit from. He can also hurt other bulky waters with toxic+protect and stop stall-locks with perish song. He also gets 2x scalds in the rain.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
- U-turn
Genesect is a Pokemon I really wanted to try out. In my opinion he is Scizor on steroids. He has the same great typing (made stronger in the rain with a 2x fire weakness) and the same proficiency at revenge killing. I run the scarf with a modest to get a nice mix of power and speed. With download + 3 special attacks he can score a SpA boost and do some damage. Also he has U-turn for any scouting/to make use of Atk boost. The only things he lacks that scizor has is priority and abillity to maul ttars. Genosect likes the rain for less fire weakness and he gets 100% accurate Thunders. He always comes out (at least to use thunder) after the weather war is won so the acc of t-bolt vs. power of thunder is not and issue.
Latios @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Latios is a staple on my team. He comes in mid-late game to clean up or turn the tide for me. The expertbelt allows him to surf or psyshock, but then on the next move drop a draco on a switch in not expecting it. My only thing with him is I'm wondering if I sould replace HP fire with Dragon Pulse, energy ball, or CM or something. He benifits from the rain by having 2x power surfs and I chose timid for maximum speed.
Tornadus-Therian @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Heat Wave
- Focus Blast
Thunderous-T is another guy I wanted to try out. He has heatwave fro netting early game ferrothorns/steels (before the rain comes out), and focus blast to hurt ferros after the rain comes out. His main job though is to come in and spam hurricane in the rain. Finally u-turn takes advantage of his speed and regenerator to try to be a scout on occasion, and for general hit and run. Tornadous benefits from the rain by getting 100% Hurricanes. He has timid to capitolise on his new-found speed.
Rotom-Wash @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- trick
- Thunderbolt
Rotom-W is a recent addition. Before I had tentacruel to spin away rocks and spikes, but I feel like tentacreul and politoed did the same job almost and were redundant. He is there as a counter to other water types or politoeds, and to do hit and run damage with voltswitches. Trick can stop blisseys, dusclops, and chansey from raining on my parade. Hydro-pump and thunderbolt are just dual stabs to use (especially rain boosted hydropump). I went for all offensive on this rotom but I'm wondering if he'd be better for me as a special wall or some kind of specially defensive supporter.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock
Jirachi is my "lead" I explain what he does below in my early game action plan. He is rarely out in the rain, but gets regular damage from fire because of it.
As for my plan of action in battle:
9 times out of 10 I lead with Jirachi and body slam to cause paralysis then iron head to para-flinch them into a switch, and hopefully paralyze the switch in too. After 'rachi cause enough hax I'll throw down rocks and either wish pass to get a team mate in safe or just sack/death fodder 'rachi.
Next is usually hard to say what comes next but my plan is really formulated on an as is basis. If the opponent has Ferrothorn it usually comes out to try to wall Jirachi, in witch case I send out Tornadus-T to heatwave it. If they don't have a ferrothorn then I just send out politoad and get rain up.
So any advice for my first serous competitive team? And if you need anymore info or I forgot something just say so ;) ;) ;)
