What is something you think is challenging about writing fiction? I am not as interested in the process of getting published as I am in what it takes for you to get your thoughts onto paper.

Completing it before I get distracted with a new idea. I have no idea how many short fictions I've started, only to drop them to start a new one. I kinda dig poetry for that reason: you can get it all out in one shebang and be ready to write something completely different afterwards. My current novella thing is the first long fiction I've ever finished the rough draft of, so I guess that means I should stick it out and finish the second, third, etc. drafts >.>

Talking Heads! David Byrne is an amazing singer and lyricist. He has a very unique approach that I really relate with for some reason. I've always thought Jerry Harrison was incredible in all of his projects, so having him on board just makes it all the better. I tried to stay awake for over 72 hours, cuz it supposedly makes you temporarily insane or something. Anyway, I then passed out for a sec, then instantly awoke and hallucinated a fucking Surskit was crawling underneath the skin in my leg. I could fucking feel it, man. Shit fucking hurt, and I couldn't get it out. My entire leg was throbbing and spasming and I could just feel this giant buggy fucker crawling around inside me. It was the weirdest shit, but I'll forever hate that little bitch :(

Hi Oglemi, every year at least once I go camping up at Spearhead point, about 30 miles northwest of Medford on route 13. I also live just west of Madison (Verona).

Woah, that's so cool! My family goes camping there all the time (I actually used to live in Perkinstown until I was 4).

Do you hope to stick around Madison after you graduate. I have been here a little over a year and really enjoy the area.

Hell no. As much as I love Madison itself, I can't stand living in Wisconsin anymore. I'm sick of conservatives (I grew up in one of the highest conservative to liberal county ratios in the state), and I'm sick of winter.

What are the biggest things you would change about the education system in America?

Not let ineffective teachers to continue teaching. I've had my fair share of god-awful teachers growing up, so I know how kids feel when they get a bad teacher. I hope to strive to be the kind of teacher that makes you want to go to class, and not dread going. If you dread going to class it just puts more stress on the student, and it also makes it extremely hard for them to concentrate in class.

Yes! (I read a ton for school sadly, which limits the amount that I can read for pleasure though :/ )

I love reading fantasy, especially stuff like the Harry Potter series. My whole childhood is basically defined by what book was out at the time.

My favorite book is a tough one though. Normally I would just say the HP series, but I really really loved a book we read for an African History course I took in Madison:

28 Stories of AIDS in Africa, by Stephanie Nolan

It was such an eye opener, and really touching and sad. It's a non-fiction, case study of 28 people in Africa in various countries, and how AIDS has affected their lives and the world they live in. I'd definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a good read!

- (serious question) what was coming out to your parents like? Any mishaps? Things you wish you could've done better? I can't really tell how close you are with them through creeping your FB (I do this a lot) so I'm curious.

I'm super close to my parents, and it was really no surprise to my mom. She guessed it ages ago (she even likes to joke how when I was 2 that I did something and she said to dad "wouldn't it be funny if he was gay?")

It was still super hard to actually admit it though because my whole family outside of my parents was/is pretty anti-gay. It's mostly the reason why I chose to hide it until after high school and moving down to Madison. I didn't want to have to deal with the questions and stuff that was sure to come with it if I had come out sooner.

I'm also pretty good at hiding it. My personality is nothing like the gay flaming stereotypes that seem to permeate through every facet of media. Most of my close friends in high school were shocked to learn that I was gay (though they usually would say something like "oh yeah I guess that makes sense" since I never had a girlfriend and admitted that I loved Lady Gaga).

Even now I usually have to tell someone I'm gay for them to actually pick up on it.

Yes, however unfortunately that may be. Why save none at all when you can save many people? Regardless of the morality involved, it only makes sense to save more people.

I think Hitler showed how powerful someone can become when as a leader they're loved. Hitler instead directed fear off of himself and onto the Jewish population. Had the fear not been redirected I don't think he would have gotten as far as he did.

Kind of an extreme example, but I think it proves my point.

I would like to say fully. There have been many cases where policemen have mistakenly shot a suspect out of self defense when they were in actual zero danger, with race usually involved in some way. But the concept of me being able to protect myself fully when in danger is a reassuring aspect, because if someone legitimately wanted me dead and attacked me, I'd like to be able to fight back and protect myself without having to worry about any possible repercussions.

I really like Wanda Sykes, and love how she uses comedy to deal with the issues that come with being a lesbian, and how she's campaigned to try and get kids to stop saying "that's so gay" about everything.

My parents are real role models as well, because they've also had to deal with the stigma that can come from me coming out and have stood by my side through it all.

There's so many people that have had such an impact on our history as humans that can serve as fantastic role models, it's all about reading and finding them to be able to apply them to yourself.

I hate any kind of fighting and wish the situation hadn't turned out as it did. I understand where the protest movement is coming from, I just wish there wasn't any bloodshed of any kind.

Sorry I'm not as read up on this as I'd like, it's one of my faults as a person. I just hate any international/national conflict that devolves to terrorism and warfare. I couldn't even tell you what the current situation of the U.S. in Iraq is.

What were your friends like when you came out? Was it hard to do?

I avoided doing it in person, and instead chose to do it over Facebook as I was leaving to go to Madison. This made it 10x easier and got the message out without me having to do it in person to everyone, though I'm sure a few of my friends were hurt I didn't tell them in person.

I wasn't super close with any of my friends in high school though either. I kept a lot of people pretty distant, and I think I did this subconsciously because I didn't want them to find out I was gay at the time. So, ultimately coming out wasn't too hard because I wasn't too close to anyone for me to feel too bad if they did feel hurt.

Yeah, if I ever feel burned out for something here on Smogon I tend to avoid doing anything regarding it for a while. There's so many different things to do on Smogon though, that I haven't been burned out from everything at the same time (luckily for now anyway).

And idk what really drives me, I think it's just the satisfaction of seeing my hard work onsite and bringing enjoyment to others that come on the site. I can proudly say that I've had a hand in making a huge portion of the current site content what it is today, which makes me feel like the big kid in town. I also love helping new users, and seeing them succeed (which comes from the same place that makes me want to be a teacher), so seeing other users like Jellicent rising through the ranks after I helped them get started is a huge reward in itself.

I also love the people here on Smogon. I never thought I'd ever get addicted to anything on the Internet, or feel close to anyone through a text medium like IRC or the forums, but I can legitimately say that I've had real connections with several users on the site on a personal level. I've learned stuff I would have never have gotten irl. It's such a cool experience, and I'm glad to say that I've spent time here, despite the fact that whatever happens here ultimately means nothing in the real world.

I'm also pretty isolated from my friends over the summer (ahh the joys of country life), so I also spend a lot of time on Smogon out of sheer boredom lol

I really enjoy French cuisine, if it's cooked well. I thought I might've starved when I was in France because I hadn't liked anything that we had during French class here in the states. But, I ended up liking nearly everything we ate while in France, even escargot!
