I've always liked rain teams, and this one has been my best by far. I peaked at 1436 on the Pokemon Online ladder, about 200 points higher than I normally do. This team started as a defensive team but slowly became a balanced/bulky offense team. I've based this team around my two main sweepers, Breloom and Volcarona. I've found that almost every team is weak to one or the other, so it's been very effective. This team's been great, but I'm not so sure if I'm going to keep Gliscor. If you have any suggestions of replacing him or anyone else I'm definitely open to them. Thanks for the help in advance and I hope you like my team.

Politoed (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Encore
- Protect

It's a pretty standard Politoed. I picked a defensive Politoed because it's surprisingly bulky and Starmie outclasses it offensively anyway. I have a second attack, Ice Beam, mainly to deal with Dragons and Gliscor and has proved to be very useful. I like Protect to scout and Encore is useful, but I am considering replacing it with Toxic.

Breloom (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 12 HP / 244 Atk / 252 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Focus Punch

Breloom is all sorts of fun to use. I first decided to use Breloom because I was sick of opposing Breloom using Spore, and I found a great Pokemon. The Bulk Up set lets Breloom be defensive as well as powerful, and Drain Punch and Poison Heal keep Breloom alive. And Breloom has Spore, because what's more fun than a 100% accurate sleep move?

Volcarona (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Hurricane
- Bug Buzz
- Fire Blast

Volcarona is a beast in the rain. After a Quiver Dance it out speeds almost anything (except Scarfed Terrakion, unfortunately) and puts a large dent with STAB Bug Buzz or perfect accuracy Hurricane. It can also Fire Blast through the rain with its mammoth Special Attack. Besides being a fantastic sweeper it can also set up on pesky sun teams and beat them at their own game, as a +1 Fire Blast in the sun OHKO's almost anything.

Ferrothorn (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Thunder Wave

Ferrothorn is a great Pokemon to have on any team, and performs especially well in the rain. It consistently sets up Stealth Rock and can have fun with Leech Seed, Gyro Ball and Thunder Wave. Thunder Wave is especially useful as it cripples faster sweepers that would otherwise sweep my team (Tornadus) so Starmie or someone else can finish them. I chose to give him a Rocky Helmet instead of Leftovers because watching the opponent take 29% damage after every attack is fun and Leech Seed covers Leftovers recovery for the most part.

121.gif

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Recover
- Thunder
- Rapid Spin

Starmie's primary job is revenge killer or late game sweeper but can also rapid spin which is necessary for Volcarona. Hydro Pump hits like a truck in the rain, OHKOing much of the meta game and even hitting over 30% on Blissey. Thunder and Ice Beam also provide great neutral coverage to go along with Starmie's STAB.

212.gif

Scizor (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Scizor does great damage, and checks a few pokemon like Lati@s and Terrakion. He's done OK on the team so far but I still might change him.

To help decide who I should be in the last slot here's a list of Pokemon that I've had trouble with in order:

641.gif

Spamming Hurricane wrecks my team. I have to sacrifice a Pokemon, put Ferrothorn in to get a Thunder Wave, let him die, and then have Starmie KO with Thunder. And if I don't have Ferrothorn at over 60% health and Starmie I'm probably screwed.

645.gif

Scarfed Landorous is the worst. It's faster than +1 Volcarona and can OHKO it, can finish off a slightly weakened Breloom with HP [Ice], can OHKO Starmie with U-Turn, can OHKO Gliscor with HP [Ice], and can run from Politoed and Ferrothorn.

Without Breloom, I can't touch these two. And Breloom isn't the hardest Pokemon to get rid of. They just keep using Toxic and Recover and there's not much I can do.

Lati@s gets a special mention because without Volcarona they are hard to kill. Starmie and Politoed have Ice Beam, but Draco Meteor isn't fun to take.

Terrakion also gets a special mention because without Gliscor he wrecks my team.

Importable:
Politoed (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Encore
- Protect

Breloom (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 212 SDef / 60 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Drain Punch

Volcarona (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Hurricane
- Bug Buzz
- Fire Blast

Ferrothorn (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Thunder Wave

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Rapid Spin

Gliscor (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Taunt

Thanks for rating my team!

Hey, nice team.
I wouldn't recommend running both Gyro Ball and Thunder Wave on Ferrothorn- against paralysed pokemon, Gyro Ball is waaaaay weaker. For this reason, I reccomend running Power Whip over Gyro Ball. This should help with your Gastrodon and Quagsire issues, especially since Ferrothorn is quite hard to get rid of.

As for the rest of the threat to your team, it seems that most of them are fast but frail sweepers. For this reason, some strong priority would be great for you. Yes, you know where I'm going with this. A Choice Band Scizor would be a great replacement for Gliscor. It's powerful Technician-boosted Bullet Punch will always 2HKO all of the other threats you mentioned, or OHKO in Terrakion's case. Unfortunately, it will be 2HKOd by each of them with the appropriate move, so it needs some prediction to get it in. Here's the set:

Scizor @ Choice Band
248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Technician, Adamant nature
-Bullet Punch
-U-Turn
-Superpower
-Pursuit

I like the idea with Ferrothorn, I'll definitely do that. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that earlier. As for Scizor I'll try him out now.

Stealth Rock is illegal with Leech Seed on Ferrothorn. Unless you find another Stealth Rock user for your team, might as well use Spikes over Leech Seed.
EDIT: Ignore me I'm an idiot, that's only if you're using Spikes too.

I have tried Specially Defensive Jirachi in Gliscor's spot but it was ineffective. It also did too little damage in return and didn't do much else. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hello.
This is a pretty cool team. I agree with the suggestion of choice band scizor for your team. Along with starmie, it will help clear the field of volcarona checks and counters, meaning you could probably sweep with him despite the rain weakening his fire move. As for who to replace, I would probably replace gliscor. Scizor will help patch up the terrakion weakness, as well as revenge killing tornadus and landorus, and hitting bulky waters hard with u-turn.

Another thing. I might replace the bulk up breloom with sub punch breloom. Again, with scizor and starmie, I see an opportunity for many volcarona sweeps. Sub punch breloom would help with that by punching major holes in the opponent's team, enabling you to 1hko more stuff after just one quiver dance. At least, that's what I'd do.

Also, you said that quagsire and gastrodon could toxic stall your breloom. Either your ability is not poison heal or you just wrote it incorrectly. Just pointing that out.

Good luck with the team, and hope this helps!

Hey there.

To help with all of the weaknesses you've mentioned, I suggest replacing Breloom with a Chansey. Breloom is pretty redundant with Ferrothorn, so it isn't really necessary. Chansey can take on Tornadus, wall Quagsire and Gastrodon, and only takes around 30% from Scarf Landorous's Earthquake (a bit more with Sandstorm but it can tank all attacks and you can play accordingly). Chansey can also utilize Stealth Rock, which will allow you to run Spikes on your Ferrothorn, thus making it easier for your team to sweep. Chansey also helps keep some pressure off of Ferrothorn, who has no recovery.

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold nature
-Stealth Rock
-Seismic Toss
-Softboiled
-Toxic

I would also suggest putting Recover over Ice Beam on Starmie. Most dragons won't even dare to switch in on Starmie anyway since Ice Beam is so common, and even if they do, you can cover them thanks to Chansey and Ferrothorn in the rain. Recover allows Starmie to stay in the game longer and make your life easier against stall teams and the like.

Solid team. Hope I helped, and good luck!
