Welcome to the , Round of the Random Battles Team Tour, where the four remaining teams will compete for the title of RBTT Champion as well as a custom avatar!

Tournament Rules

  • The tournament will consist of 8 teams battling it out in a Round Robin format over seven weeks; after that, the four best teams overall will move onto playoffs.
  • Each series will be played as a Best of 3.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokémon Showdown.
  • Do not make baseless activity posts, get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.
  • Replays of the matches must be posted to verify a win; if replays are not posted, the match doesn't count.
General Tournament Rules

  • Scheduling: Attempt to contact your opponent by posting on their smogon profile as soon as possible. It is strongly advised to schedule publicly there on Smogon so the host can make any necessary activity calls. If you cannot get in contact with your opponent, inform the host in this thread so we can make any necessary substitution. If you have made no visible contact, the host may substitute you out for another player.
  • Timer Clause and Disconnections: The timer is not required to be on during games; however, if the timer is on and a player runs out of time, their opponent wins the game via timeout. If a player disconnects and thus times out, this also counts as a loss for the player who disconnected.
  • Don't ghost. As of recent tournaments-forum rules, this also includes calcing for teammates that are playing, so please do not delegate doing calcs to your teammates when you play.

Reminder: For the Mystery Box format in playoffs, the matches will start with Gen 8 Random Battle, and then the loser of the match will choose any format previously picked in the Mystery Box (Gen 2, Gen 6, Monotype, No Dmax, Gen 7 HC, DHC, Challenge Cup 6v6), and if the match moves to a third game, that loser will pick the third. It's a best-of-three-loser-picks-next type of thing. You get it.

This time I'm awake early so let's do semis predicts to go all wrong once again!

Team Deoxys (6) vs Team Arcanine (6)
Gen 8 Random Battle: appelsap vs peap | Looks like deoxys choose to slot their star gen8 player second, contrary to Arcanine; appelsap, though, is not a second zone player so I expect this series to be pretty heated, unless shit happens. Slight edge to peap though, imo, despite the result of their first series
Gen 8 Random Battle: sunsets vs KyogreF4N | sunsets is quite on a roll, contrary to KyogreF4N, and I think Deoxys' player is superior here
Gen 7 Random Battle: Piyush25 vs bobomania | Two strong players, but I think piyush has been more consistent throughout the whole tour and should win the return game! sorry fren :c
Gen 5 Random Battle: crying vs Dj Breloominati♬ | crying plays gen5 rands for the first time in this tour so I don't really know what to expect; it's a variance format though and Spitfire has shown a tendancy to choke so I'll give the edge to crying
Gen 4 Random Battle: Trade vs Celever | Celly has finally awaken, expecting them to do good this time
Gen 3 Random Battle: xGang vs HeadsILoseTailsYouWin | Despite the rough start xGang is still the superior player in my books
Gen 1 Random Battle: YBW vs Alpha Male Psyduck | AMP is really dominating the field and I'm not saying that because I lost to them too, I still expect them to win the match here
Gen 8 Hackmons Cup: Fragments vs Nudepantsman | Okay, npm, this time you convinced me, I'll stop bolding against you
Gen 7 Battle Factory: jonfilch vs ORAS-Mega | Feji's fajitas is once of the most patient and precise player in this field and I'm still impressed by what I saw of them - not that jonfilch isn't strong as well. Edge to the borker
Gen 8 BSS Factory: zioziotrip vs PikaPlayer | 8-0?
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: teresbahji vs Crunchman | Teres is performing like a mad man and I don't think Crunchman will be able to overcome him
Mystery Box: Expulso vs RSB | RSB is one of the most well rounded and versatile player I know and what better than the current mystery box format to show that? Rusty is definitely superior in gen8 (and mono+nodmax), will Expulso need to resort to some of the hackmons format to compensate?

I did not predict a tie on purpose but let's have fun and try to guess what the tie break would look like!

GEN8: sunsets vs peap | Deoxys has a wide choice for their gen8 slot: Teres, appelsap, snorlax and sunsets are all really good picks and could be expected to do well, but given the quality of their results and plays, and also because I assume Teres will play something else here, I think sunsets is the wisest choice. Borkers have some depths in gen8 as well, since peap, KF, bobo and RSB are all seasoned gen8 players. I'm not certain, given the context, that any of them could prevail though.
DUBS: Teresbahji vs Crunchman: Why not BSSF may you ask? zioziotrip is the insane and masterful 7-0 player, should be a sound choice. Or xGang, the 1st pick and still probably best player of gen3 field? Well, yes, but Borkers have both RSB and pikaplayer to supply BSSF slots and those two have the strength to upset the undefeated, while Anna says hi is also a strong player there. The gap of strength between players is wider in dubs than it is in BSSF in this match up, and I think Teres is the soundest choice here. If Deoxys still pick zioziotrip despite this, I think Teres might also play gen8 instead of sunsets.
GEN7 BF: jonfilch vs ORAS-Mega: I could see borkers go for AMP as well. Both players are forces to be reckon with and should be able to come out victorious of their match. GEN1 rands, even though I like the format, has that slight tendancy to be more rng dependant than other formats and I don't think Arcanines will want to risk their spot in finals to a freeze and three turns of full-para. Same reasoning goes for Mbox.

Winners: Deoxys, by a very, very slight margin, also depending on how the gen8 game will go, since it's the most likely to go either way, in my humble opinion.

Sorry Borkers, but keep in mind my predicts always go wrong so see you in finals!
 
It's playoffs, might as well make a few predictions.

Team Hoopa (8) vs Team Shaymin-Sky (4)
Gen 8 Random Battle: Sylveon used calm mind vs odr - while odr's record is marginally better, Sylv has been on a winning streak recently, so I've decided to bold him here. Should be fairly close either way.
Gen 8 Random Battle: Stareal vs Zap - Stareal has had a good performance this tour, whereas Zap's record is fairly average.
Gen 7 Random Battle: Shookington vs LordST - I haven't forgotten LordST's insane record from last year, even though this year isn't going quite so well for him.
Gen 5 Random Battle: Tomahawk vs TheFranklin - Good matchup between two of the strongest Gen 5 players in the pool, expecting this one to go to three games.
Gen 4 Random Battle: O1V7O2X9O vs El químico del pueblucho - Predicting Damm u captcha to win against the player whose name kind of looks like a captcha.
Gen 3 Random Battle: Xceloh vs London13 - These guys have exactly the same records so I've just picked whichever one of them won in their matchup last time.
Gen 1 Random Battle: rabbit13 vs Tarrembeau - I don't keep up with Gen 1, so I've picked Tarremb because they beat me to posting predictions.
Gen 8 Hackmons Cup: Zephyr Dragon Lord vs platinumCheesecake - Rough RBTT for platty this year.
Gen 7 Battle Factory: temp vs Michielleus - Wouldn't be surprised if this went the other way, but temp's leading the BF pool right now.
Gen 8 BSS Factory: luisin vs jasprose - I don't really have anything to say about this.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: Memoric vs queso - Memoric is a great player, and I don't think his losses in the last couple of weeks are going to continue into playoffs.
Mystery Box: javitu vs soTsoT - I genuinely have no idea how I'm supposed to predict mystery box.

Gen 8 Random Battle: appelsap vs peap - peap has been underperforming this year, he could definitely still win but I'm just going with the player who's ahead on the sheet.
Gen 8 Random Battle: sunsets vs KyogreF4N - sunsets is leading the Gen 8 pool right now, which is impressive considering it has the most competition.
Gen 7 Random Battle: Piyush25 vs bobomania - Could be fairly close, I just think Piyush is slightly better.
Gen 5 Random Battle: crying vs Dj Breloominati♬ - I don't know how much experience crying has with Gen 5, I think he's a better player but I think he'll be less comfortable with the format than his opponent. I'm open to being proven wrong though.
Gen 4 Random Battle: Trade vs Celever - Celever was having a rough RBTT at the start, but a win against Captcha last week makes me think he could be getting himself back together.
Gen 3 Random Battle: xGang vs HeadsILoseTailsYouWin - Both very experienced Gen 3 players with similar records, could go either way.
Gen 1 Random Battle: YBW vs Alpha Male Psyduck - Remember when I said I don't keep up with Gen 1? It's still true, but AMP is 6-1 so I think I'd be stupid not to predict him to win here.
Gen 8 Hackmons Cup: Fragments vs Nudepantsman - 5-2 is pretty good for Hackmons Cup.
Gen 7 Battle Factory: jonfilch vs ORAS-Mega - More experience with BF specifically and a better record makes it hard for me to predict against ORAS-Mega.
Gen 8 BSS Factory: zioziotrip vs PikaPlayer - I'd be insane not to.
Gen 8 Random Doubles Battle: teresbahji vs Crunchman - teres has actually been doing pretty well in Doubles, wouldn't be surprised if that continues.
Mystery Box: Expulso vs RSB - Despite Expulso's good performance in Rands Slam, RSB has a lot of experience in pretty much every format and I'd give him the edge in the mandatory Gen 8 slot too. I think this'll be a hard one to win for Expulso.
