Project RarelyUsed Teambuilding Competition: Week Thirteen- Ground-types

Electric Terrain HO/Offense Thing
https://pokepast.es/ec3b47fb99b8d224
i tried

:pincurchin:
the setter, it kinda sucks but at least it can heal, threaten para, set spikes and memento for one time pivot

:raichu-alola:
the big abuser, it's really fast and does good damage after a nasty plot, we run focus blast for Goodra-hisui and Umbreon, Tera Fairy is for dark-type moves such as sucker punch from bisharp, it's best utilized in late game to sweep a weakened team but can also work earlier to put a lot of pressure on the opponent's team

:oricorio-pom-pom:
we all know what oricorio does so i'm gonna focus on what it does for the team
a ground immune that looves the terrain seed, can be extremely threatening late-game but also works wonderfully in early game thanks to it's ability to come on ground types and physical attackers, working as a pseudo defensive mon you can switch on things that want to threaten pincurchin turn one

:magnezone:
a strong abuser of terrain that can deal great boosted damages while also acting as a useful specially defensive wall to give the team some good bulk, it will also force ground types in to stop the volt switch spam which is nice since you can flash cannon on the switch for big damage, further helping raichu alola do it's thing, overall an important part of the team, we use tera grass for the ground resist and to keep getting the terrain's effects after tera

:mamoswine:
strong ground and ice types with prio, good to damage opposing electric and grass types that may want to eat electric moves while also being able to absorb the opponent's electric types that may want to abuse the terrain to threaten allies such as oricorio or bisharp

:bisharp:
it doesn't benefit from electric terrain at all but is a good swiss knife mon that is consistently powerful in every matchup, it can help mamoswine break physical walls or revenge kill threats or even sweep on it's own, all around a good mon to improve consistency

Thank you to all of our participants this week, we've got some great submissions to choose from! Given how many submissions we got, please choose your three favorite teams below; voting ends Monday, February 24th at 8am GMT -6.

Psychic Terrain came out in full force, with four total submissions, followed by two for both Grassy and Misty Terrain and one for Electric Terrain.

My votes go to Bice, for bringing Belly Drum Chesnaught back to life, Hyper bol, for their unique twist on Misty Terrain with Sceptile, and Sneakyplanner, who is using my favorite Hisuian Lilligant set and OTR Reuniclus on Psychic Terrain to great effect.

Hyper Bol even if the Necrozma set is bad
1740173740325.png

heatraninator has the most interesting archetype, and proves that chansey isnt quite washed

canard for being the sole eterrain team; laughing my ass off that iron thorns is such ass that he wasn't included on such a team

Voting for Evie because I was also considering using rocks meteor beam jirachi, it's a cool set to use on teams like this.

Voting for Bice because it looks like the only actual solid team in here. Can't be a bad team with Oricorio.

Hyper Bol because he didn't take the easiest terrain and managed to build something that looks good and fun
Sneaky because Grafaiai is the goat and I miss this little guy + great use of Psychic Hilligant
Bice because she probably built one of the most competitive teams out of these using two brokens and I'm always a fan of BD Chesnaught

:zoroark-hisui::sv/zoroark-hisui: Week Four: Hisuian Zoroark :sv/zoroark-hisui::zoroark-hisui:

horo.png

This weeks teambuilding subject is one of the trickiest threats in the tier to play against in Hisuian Zoroark. Using its patented Ability Illusion, even the most careful of players will succumb to its tricks and inevitably take big damage from its devastating STAB attacks and coverage choices like Flamethrower and Grass Knot. Physical sets can also overwhelm the foe, luring in unsuspecting foes to dish out massive damage with attacks like Focus Punch and Poltergeist. To add to its tricky tool set, Trick can be used to give unfavorable Choice items to otherwise safe switch-ins like Registeel, punishing passive play and allowing Hisuian Zoroark to attack freely.

If you think you've got what it takes to build a team that maximizes the deceptive nature of Hisuian Zoroark, feel free to submit your teams by the submission deadline will be Friday, February 28th, at 3pm GMT -6. I look forward to seeing how you all devise a way to get the most out of Illusion.

Guesswork Supreme
:zoroark-hisui: - :mamoswine: - :volcanion: - :zapdos-galar: - :forretress: - :chansey:

Alright gamers. My team is one that takes everything annoying about RU and distills it into an easy to understand, worrying to fight team. In completely technical terms, this is 100% Mamoswine Spikestack, and I shall go into every evil detail in this team. Every set is pretty standard aside from Forre which just has spin, but the important thing here isn't any new and innovative set but the way every teammate bounces off the other.

:pmd/zoroark-hisui: Zoroark is the mainstay of the team, spouting a regular specs set. The important thing here is that Horoark lets you play some pretty mean mindgames, and also gives access to Trick, allowing you to cripple special walls once they figure out who on your team is who. Additionally, the power of Specs allows Horoark to blast through physical walls and switch-ins to your teammates such as Chesnaught, Hippowdon, and Slowbro. Also acts as the team's spinblocker in a pinch.

:pmd/mamoswine: Potential Pig himself, able to scare the opponent from team preview and more importantly able to knock off opposing boots, synergizing with forre's spikes and potentially knocking off an eviolite on chansey or something.

:pmd/volcanion: The Fucker himself, here to add another layer of guesswork and click buttons and kill things. Threatens everything that Mamoswine hates and vice-versa, and is also able to pretty decently chunk hoodra with EP. Also carries broken taunt to stop recovery on Chansey and whatnot.

:pmd/zapdos-galar: Gapdos is here to act as speed control and to synergize well with both Mamoswine for being another Knock user and with Horoark to form everyone's favorite guessing game pair.

:pmd/forretress: As part of this team's defensive core, Forre is here to act as the hazard control and physical wall. Does what forre does, and anything that threatens it can usually be covered with either a switch to volc or Chansey.

:pmd/chansey: The second half of this team's defensive core, acting as the rocks setter, the special wall, and being able to para threats to allow Mamoswine and Volcanion to do their thing but better.

REPLAY ZONE:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ru-2307019480-kafj1w2g2yunu2tciuvpbkcd3owf8uhpw Vs. Autochtone
A game in which the guessing games did their thing, and they kinda just couldn't recover (I was 100% ready to click trick there too with horo at the end btw)

Dishonest Balance
Hello! I actually built an RU team out of boredom for once? Anyways yeah the team is built around dishonest Zoroark creating a guessing game disguised as either Volcanion or Slither Wing, and you collect your bag from there. Usually I disguise as volcanion but if I see something like Chansey I disguise as slither wing and try to catch something like that. As far as the building process goes, I started with Horoark and Volcanion, added a hazards core i felt comfortable building with (go bulky noivern! go hippowdown! Woohoo!) and slither wing felt appropriate in the end for another pokemon to disguise as, speed control, pivoting, etc.

:Zoroark-Hisui::Slither Wing::Volcanion::Jirachi::Cyclizar::Quagsire:
CB Horo Offense

:Zoroark-Hisui: Used Focus Miss and died? Should have run physically offensive horo. Low Kick not only OHKOs Bisharp but also hoodra without hp or defense investment. Poltergeist and Body Slam are your stab moves. You can use Shadow Claw with cycle's Knock Off to synergize with quag's Spikes, but you will miss a coin flip against reun. U-Turn gets you out of undesirable MUs and forms a pivoting core with slither and volc.
252 Atk Choice Band Zoroark-Hisui Poltergeist vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 390-458 (91.9 - 108%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Zoroark-Hisui Shadow Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 248-294 (58.4 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Zoroark-Hisui Shadow Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 248-294 (58.4 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after 3 layers of Spikes

:Slither Wing: Checks Umbreon and Wo-Chien for horo, threatens dark and steel types for rachi, and is a Knock Off absorber for volc.

:Volcanion: Checks mons slither struggles with, such as fez, hippo, ches, and geezing as well as resisting fire for it and rachi. Hoodra is one of volc's checks, so it can be disguised to nail hoodra with horo's Low Kick.

:Jirachi: Resists the dragon and fairy mons slither and volc struggles with. Thunderbolt hits water types, especially volc, and grass knot is for krook and water-ground mons.

:Cyclizar: Acts as another ghost immunity and spinner to maintain the mind games. Body Slam provides another form of speed control for the team, especially for volc. AV addresses whatever special attacker threatens quag.

:Quagsire: Forms a defensive core with cycle, as Unware and Toxic handle setup mons for cycle. Spikes chips down checks and counters for the team, though mentioned with horo, there are pros and cons with using cycle's Knock Off.

This is my audition for the pressure Cookers in RUPL, the most popular RU team tournament that you should sign up for here https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/rupl-xii-player-signups-custom-avatar-prize.3760424/
:zoroark-hisui::entei::cyclizar::swampert::slither-wing::fezandipiti:

This is my pet team style: volt-turn with Entei. This started as a gimmick team with 6 u-turns, but I somehow managed to turn it into a better team by adding the bestie: Entei. It's still a bit of a gimmicky team, but it's a fun gimmick. 4 u-turns, a decent defensive backbone with Swampert, Fez, Bike and Slither-wing. Then the offensive side of Horoark, Entei and Slither-wing threatens the entire tier. Double priority is always fun. Who needs a scarfer when you have fimp and extremespeed.

Swampert is here for street cred and the role compression. It's kinda the yin to Cyclizar's Yang if you really think about it. Both have knockturn, but sSwampert is slow, Swampert sets hazards instead of removing them, Swampert is 4x weak to grass while Bike resists it. In terms of actual off-beat options, I'm using tera steel slither-wing and fez. This team has a bit of a gapdos problem, as does the whole tier. You can usually win through skill by getting up hazards and wearing Zapdos down with brave bird recoil and chip, but in a pinch you can use tera steel to add a much needed flying resist.

AV Melo BO
:meloetta: :talonflame: :rhyperior: :klefki: :zoroark hisui: :slither wing:

:pmd/meloetta: The main focus of the team, meloetta acts as a nice offensive switchin to many special attackers. Hyper voice and psychic are good STAB options, u-turn can get meloetta out while chipping dark types such as umbreon and knock off can remove items from switchins. Tera fighting resists the dark type moves aimed at meloetta.

:pmd/talonflame: The main physical defense sponge, talonflame acts as nice check to fighting types and ground types. Standard set, with tera grass helping against water types.

:pmd/rhyperior: The rocker and main wallbreaker of the team, rhyperior does rhyperior things. Get up rocks, SD up, and bust down some walls. Standard set.

:pmd/klefki: Klefki acts as the main special defense sponge and as a way to help break defensive pokemon with spikes. Magnet rise allows Klefki to sit on pokemon such as krookodile and hippowdon easily.

:pmd/zoroark hisui: Horoark provides much needed speed control to the team, while pairing quite with illusion to hide itself as meloetta or slither wing. Knock off is used over u-turn as it can help disguise horoark as meloetta, but also knock off helmets from pokemon such as geezing or hippowdon to help out slither wing.

:pmd/slither wing: Finally, slither wing acts as a revenge killer for the team that can do some defensive duties. Standard set, tera bug helps in the HO matchup by giving it more powerful fimps.

Sub Throat Spray Horoark HO

:kleavor: :salamence: :armarouge: :bisharp::feraligatr::zoroark-hisui:

I built this team for gewwge's match against FP for week 4 of RUBD. I had been toying around with the idea of Throat Spray Horo for a little while and thought it would be an interesting tech to bring on an aggressive HO team like this.

:kleavor: Pretty straightforward HO rocks setter. I tend to prefer Kleavor over something like lead Terrakion since a lot of teams are unprepped for Kleavor's STABs, which hit surprisingly hard against much of the tier. The last 2 moves are pretty much filler; I chose SD and Trailblaze to give Kleavor the potential to punch big holes in fat stuff like Hippo, Slowbro, and Rhyperior, which makes the rest of the team's lives easier.

:salamence: Mostly standard DD Moxie Mence set, although Tera Normal Facade was an idea from Oyster as a way to abuse burn spreaders like Gweez, Volc, and Talon who can otherwise problematic for Salamence. Being able to run boots over Lum Berry also gives you a bit more longevity on a team with no hazard removal.

:armarouge: Standard CM Arma set, not much to say about this one.

:bisharp: Also a standard SD Bisharp set with Tera Dark to amp up your Sucker Punch damage output. The Tera type could certainly be changed depending on the team, though.

:feraligatr: DD Gatr with Crunch and Tera Dark for Slowbro and Legion. Tera Dark also helps with your Bisharp matchup in a pinch.

:zoroark-hisui: The star of the show. We noticed a lot of Cyclizar usage in FP's scout, and bike can famously be a headache for Horo, so I wanted to devise a way for Horo to get around it. What's nice about Sub Zoroark is that you're able to preserve Illusion just a little bit longer and you can avoid playing the Shadow Ball/Hyper Voice guessing game that comes with Choiced Horo sets. Knock Off from bike also becomes less problematic if you're able to use up your Throat Spray. The typings/sets of the other mons on this team mean that you will most likely have to disguise Horo as Feraligatr since they take the same amount from rocks damage; however, this is fine since Gatr and Horo have nice offensive synergy. Grass Knot was originally Flamethrower, but Grass Knot nukes Rhyperior which can otherwise be annoying.

Zoroark Terrakion HO

https://pokepast.es/ea51660ac58218ce

:zoroark-hisui: is running a throat spray set to boost its damage power while weakening knock off from pokemon like :cyclizar: and allowing it to switch up its moves. Focus blast is chosen to hit :goodra-hisui: and :umbreon: but also causes some trouble against opposing :zoroark-hisui: since they are immune to all of your attacking moves.

:terrakion: is chosen as the stealth rock setter of the team, who can discourage the dark type moves moves aimed at :zoroark-hisui: and :armarouge:, and break through problematic dark types such as :bisharp: and normal types like :cyclizar: reliably, allowing :zoroark-hisui: to spam shadow ball easier.

:bisharp: is chosen to do pretty standard things, acting as a strong breaker and sweeper with priority who appreciates the fighting immunity from :zoroark-hisui: and punishes defog attempts. It also is able to threaten :weezing-galar:, who :terrakion: struggles with breaking.

:gyarados: greatly appreciates the breaking from :bisharp: and :terrakion:, allowing it to clean up weakened teams with dragon dance and moxie. It also provides the team a ground immunity and tera flying tera blast allows it to quickly snowball out of control if given the chance.

:gardevoir: gives the team some much needed speed with choice scarf, a dragon immunity, a special cleaner with moonblast and psychic, and healing wish to help with :zoroark-hisui:'s frailty and lack of longevity and get rid of burn on the physical attackers.

:armarouge: is a pretty standard breaking option, with endure weakness policy being used to allow :armarouge: to force out physical attackers and give the team another option through which to boost its speed.

Spinblocker-less Webs (ft Critdra)
:ribombee::bisharp::kingdra::zoroark-hisui::gallade::armarouge:

i decided to make a webs team but by utilizing tera and zoroark-hisui as only spinblockers because i felt like you could free a slot on webs for better webs abuser by just not including one, hence the five ghost teras, Zoroark-Hisui shines there as a swiss knife being able to do emergency spinblocking and be an effective sweeper and webs abuser
(shout out to ribombee for making it possible by threatening damage on cyclizar so it doesn't just lead and spins and wins)

:ribombee:
you know the drill, place webs, paras stuff, etc etc

:bisharp:
standard Bisharp doing Bisharp things like, adding bulk to the team, adding priority to the team, killing people, all with the added tool of low kick, making it one of the best Bisharp counter, a must have in webs because Defiant on a mon spamming priority and not caring about it's speed

:kingdra:
everyone's favorite seahorse, the vision is that focus energy + scope lens = guaranteed sniper boosted crits of Draco Meteor, while it's normally mediocre at best, thanks to webs it rarely if ever needs to use agility, letting him do less setting up and more killing, tera ghost is here so you can spinblock as tera is kinda the spinblock button of the team, also and all around good defensive type and you don't need more damage, just, avoid fighting empoleon

:zoroark-hisui:
the star of the show, here multitasking for the team, it's an effective sweeper that will eat teams who's speed control is down, can setup quickly and live a knock off from cyclizar thanks to throat spray and it being a consumable, can setup further with nasty plot, helps immensely with the stall matchup (especially with ditto stall thanks to it being immune to it's own moves letting you use ditto as fodder unless you're poisoned or burned). can use chansey as fodder and finally it's also the only ghost of the team so in an emergency can block a rapid spin, especially from forretress whom it uses as setup fodder

:gallade:
sharpness, good offensive typing and coverage against the physical walls of RU, tera steel for Gardevoir and Zapdos-galar, does absurd damage, the usual, go check out the gallade analysis when it comes out for more info

:armarouge:
tera ghost for entei and rapid spin, threatens cyclizar's rapid spin attemps immensely, can even 1HKO it on a roll with psyshock at +1, threatens damage on everything, good bulk, just an all around good mon, also great at revenge killing zapdos galar

Thank you to all of our participants this week, as usual we have a lot of really cool submissions to choose from! Please choose your two favorite teams below; voting ends Monday, March 3rd at 8am GMT -6.

:ribombee::bisharp::kingdra::zoroark-hisui::gallade::armarouge: Throat Spray Hisuian Zoroark Webs HO by Canard

My choices this week go to tom holland, who is using Hisuian Zoroark on a very well structured bulky offense team, and Sneakyplanner, who may have auditioned herself into my SV1 slot (and built a dope PivotSpam team).
