first post does this look jerky, if so, oops.
so anyway, i've been trying to improve my ou team for a while, and i'd really like some advice!!

186.gif

Keroro (Politoed) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

the drizzle inducer. I decided upon an offensive specs set, and I actually like how he plays a lot? I mean, I dig the offensive set. not much to say her.

134.gif

Drani (Vaporeon) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Hydration
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Rest
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Grass]

kind of a bulky special attacker? I like the coverage that Ice/Hydro/HP Grass gives, and I love hydration.

149.gif

Blitzkreig (Dragonite) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 180 Spd / 76 Atk / 252 SAtk
Mild Nature
- Hurricane
- Thunder
- ExtremeSpeed
- Roost

kind of a bulky mixed attacker dragonite. I'm not sure about having both hurricane and thunder. I also don't really like the life orb recoil? but i can't choice it so idk.

Maytag (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split

I love love love this thing. I think he's a total tank and I'm pretty happy with him. His hydro pump does huge damage and he has a great ability and volt switch is great. I just. I love rotom-w.

SapStinger (Ferrothorn) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip

Generic ferrothorn. he does a really good job setting up spikes and leech seed.

121.gif

Starstruck (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 4 SAtk / 224 Spd
Serious Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Thunder
- Recover

rapid spinner. I used to have cloyster, but I changed it out for starmie and I'm not sure which one I like better. It does a good job of support.

and yeah i'm sorry i'm a huge noob at this lol.

Howdy. Nice team you've got here!
I suggest putting Will-o-wisp on Rotom-W since, once Ferrothorn has bitten the dust, you have nothing that can take hits super well.
I would also recommend maybe running Ice Beam on Starmie in order to hit Dragons for major damage and get excellent BoltBeam coverage. I also recommend running Life Orb on Starmie to increase damage output, seeing as he already has Recover.

Hope this helped!

We'll for starters in alot of matches you can't use same items on pokemon and you could have much better items than a leftovers on rotom and starlike because they both have low Hp stats making it hard to run a leftovers set. Most people though will understand what you mean to do but it's always a good idea to say what there purpose is and how it fits with the team. Personally though instead of swapping around cloyster and starmie I would swap around your vapoureon and cloyster

Here's the set I like to run with my cloyster
search

Cloyster@white herb Evs:252 attack,252 speed, 4 special defense
-shell smash
-icicle spear. Nature:Jolly
-rock blast
-razor shell. Ability: Skill link

I don't usually post here (and for good reason, not the best Teambuilder tbh >_>) but I see that you have max HP EVs on Vaporeon. I recommend moving those over to Defense as it balances Vaporeon's overall bulk and she has a ton of HP anyway. And you're using Lefties over Life Orb which is interesting. I feel the extra power will be missed but adding to bulk may not be a bad idea. Might wanna try Life Orb sometime tho.

Props for running Offensive Vappy btw :) wish I saw this Set more often it's pretty underrated.

Edit: Wait, what was the required number of lines of information for each Poke again? ._.

^^ @Earth It's only Nintendo formats that have the item clause. On Showdown or Pokemon Online he's fine. Also, that's not true about Rotom-W and Starmie anyway, they both appreciate the leftovers recovery, Rotom-W in particular.

Now mazzew, this team does need a lot of work. It has some big weaknesses, and some Pokemon, like Venusaur in Sun can easily 6-0 you. Here is some advice:

1) Have only one or two water types on your team besides Politoed. Vaporeon really isn't doing much, as it has the same offensive coverage as Politoed, and isn't a great wall for your team since it is has compounding weaknesses (Grass and Electric) with three and two of its teammates respectively and so can't switch into attacks aimed at them. Starmie too, always be replaced by Forretress. Forretress could sort of combine Starmie and Ferrothorn's roles on your team, and free up another teamslot and lessening your compounding weaknesses. Also, if you have to choose between Stealth Rock and Spikes, use the former. The only reason Smogon recommends Spikes on Ferrothorn is because they assume Stealth Rock is somewhere else on your team. Stealth Rock is far more important, as it hits everything, and cripples threats like Dragonite and Volcarona. Using both is perfectly viable though.

2) Have some physical power on your team. Specially defensive Pokemon (Chansey and Blissey in particular) are huge problems for you. Changing Dragonite to a Dragon Dance set might help here. A lum berry could be useful here to help with your Venusaur weakness, so it can't just put you to sleep.

3) Have some strategies to work towards: Dragon Dance Dragonite would be one of those if you opt to use it. There should be more, though. You should have a Choice Scarf user to act as a secondary win condition by cleaning up weakened teams, and also to revenge kill threats and make sure boosted opponents can still be taken down. Because right now once Ferrothorn is weakened, any +1 Dragon can 6-0 you. Terrakion would be a good choice for a scarfer because it adds more physical power, outspeeds most of the metagame, and can help with the steel types that bother Dragonite.

Now you have room for one more Pokemon. If you've followed the above advice, you'll actually have less special presence than physical on the offensive side, so Tornadus might be a good option. Hurricane is great in the rain, and a lategame tailwind boost for your Dragonite or Politoed is a possible backup win condition. Taunt could be good on the set too, and could be used against Skarmory and sashed Breloom leads to good effect.

I hope I haven't changed too much, but honestly, a lot did need to be changed. Feel free to take or leave any of the suggestions I made, but whatever changes you make, remember what I said about compounding weaknesses, offensive presence on both sides of the spectrum, and win conditions.

Hope that helped, and welcome to Smogon!

p.s. This thread might become locked soon. To mitigate that, make sure you have three lines or more describing each Pokemon. If you have a hard time writing that much, remember that you're not just talking about the Pokemon on its own, you're talking about how it works with its teammates. Rotom-W and Ferrothorn can switch into Fire and Water attacks aimed for the other, for instance. So include that in Ferrothorn's section rather than just saying it lays hazards and uses Leech Seed.

Hi,

So you really need to buff up these descriptions. Try to include more than "generic ferrothorn" and explain why you chose that specific Pokemon/moves/EVs and explain what role it plays on your team.

PM me your descriptions and I will unlock this thread for you.
