Well iv'e been trading on the Wi-Fi Forums for quite some time now and have amassed a decent number of pokes. So i figured it was time to build a final team for the various playable tiers. This is by no means my final OU team as i have very little experience in team building. Well without further ado, the pokes.
Overview:
Its a pretty basic group of a special wall, physical wall, supporter, physical attacker, special attacker and mixed attacker. Here is a deeper analysis of each individual poke.
Salamence @ Choice Specs
Modest - Intimidate
252 Sp. Atk / 252 Speed / 6 HP
- Hydro Pump
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- HP Ground 70
I love starting with specs-Mence. Many people have a difficult time discerning what type of salamence this is and thus suffer dearly for it. I know the analysis says Hidden power is not suggested but the added coverage HP Ground provides is hard for me to pass up. It takes Dragon Pulse's place in the moveset since I rarely use it in place of a Draco Meteor. This guy does a fair amount of damage to almost any pokemon that stays in on it or tries to switch in.
Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Impish - Chlorophyll
252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Knock Off
- Sleep Powder
One of my very favorite physical walls. Leech Seeds for the group, provides solid sleep support. Also boasts an incredibly powerful physical attack that will make other pokes think twice before switching in. Mojonbo = Win.
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Bold - Water Absorb
188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SpA
- Wish
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- HP Electric 70
Vaporeon provides the team with much needed wish support. Beyond the ability to give wish to its team-members, vaporeon can effectively counter a number of prominent OU threats (like garchomp and gyarados). HP Electric just adds to the coverage vaporeon is capable of providing.
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Impish - Sand Veil
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Stealth Rock
- Roost
Gliscor helps take almost all the prediction work out of walling heracross while simultaneously providing solid Stealth Rock support. Gliscor also helps manage Garchomp with the ability to take it out in two hits. (minus the yache variety that i really hate >.>)
Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Adamant - Snow Cloak
64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe
- Ice Fang
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Recently iv'e opted to use the Life Orb with blizzard in the moveset for that extra POW. Sadly, it is missing too much for my tastes and thus i am thinking about changing it to a Choice Band set and replacing Blizzard with Ice Fang for some more damage. Priority Ice Shard is fantastically useful for numerous reasons. This guy is pretty awesome.
Infernape @ Life Orb
Naive - Blaze
24 Atk / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
- Nasty Plot
- Close Combat
- Grass Knot
- Flamethrower
This guy has helped me ruin so many teams. I Nasty Plot, and despite the huge number of mixed apes out there, people still switch in their Blissey/Special Wall only to be met with a Close Combat. Overall the mixed capabilities of this pokemon help cover a vast majority of pokes that may try to switch in.
I'm incredibly terrible at noticing what my teams are weak to as I mostly build poke teams out of pokemon i genuinely like using/watching. However, i don't really know what to do against TauntDos and many other big guys. So I would greatly appreciate any input on this current conglomeration of pokemon I have gathered together. I am more than willing to replace any of the pokemon on my team with other pokemon that would help my overall synergy. Almost all suggestions made will be considered as i'd really like to create a final team that i can try to finish trading on the Wi-Fi forums for. Thanks a lot in advance for any help provided! Cheers.
Possible Substitutes :
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Impish - Serene Grace
240 HP / 56 Atk / 76 Def / 136 Spe
- Wish
- U-Turn
- Reflect
- Zen Headbutt
He is super sturdy, can easily and effectively pass wishes to team members, and will also be immune to Tyranitar's Sand Stream. Zen Headbutts flinch rate is also useful in getting a free wish in. Reflect is there to help the rest of the team survive various physical attacks while setting up.
Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Adamant - Sand Stream
60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Speed
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Tyranitar would replace Weaviles position in my team. The added survivability and strength behind this pokemon is what makes it an extremely attractive addition. Pursuit will take care of Azelf along with the other fragile pokes. Upon his addition, however, Sand will become an issue. Thus, with Tyranitar comes the need for jirachi over vaporeon in order to make 4/6 of my team immune to Sand Stream while still fully functioning as a wish passer.
Weavile @ Choice Band
Jolly - Pressure
40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
- Pursuit
- Ice Punch / Ice Shard
- Aerial Ace / Night Slash
- Brick Break
So the role of weavile is obviously to attempt PP stalling the foe's team. JK :D Weavile is here to provide a solid source of revenge killing, while taking care of those annoying psychic sweeper (I'm looking at you azelf >.>). Pursuit puts all of those frail psychic types in there place. I can't decide between ice punch and ice shard, nor can I make a decision between aerial ace and night slash. Opinions on the move-set are greatly appreciated.
Former Team Members :
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Relaxed - Levitate
252 HP / 152 Atk / 8 Def / 96 SpD
- Hypnosis
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball
With numerous resistances, Bronzong is capable of taking a barrage of hits even with its lack of immediate recovery moves. Serves as a decent counter to Garchomp users, with its ability to throw a Gyro Ball in their faces.
Blissey @ Leftovers
Bold - Natural Cure
148 HP / 252 Def / 104 SpA / 4 Spe
- Ice Beam
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Softboiled
I do not understand why people shy away from using this pokemon. It is so good at what it does there really is no substitute up to par with its abilities. I prefer the extra punch the Sp. Atk EVs provide over the extra HP, hence this EV spread over the 252HP/252Def spread.
Celebi @ Leftovers
252 HP / 252 Def / 6 Sp.Def
- Thunder Wave
- Grass Knot
- Leech Seed
- Recover
