Rate My Sun Team (First Team)

I created this sun team to be offensive and to take down opposing weather summoners. I tested this team (Typo, first team) on PO and Smogon University, this team won 16-4 on PO and 7-1 on Smogon University. It has some Synergy and works well. Thanks for reading and rating.

1:Lead MienShao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
Evs: 252Atk/4SpA/252Spe
Nature:Naive
Moves:Fake Out
High Jump Kick
U-Turn
Hidden Power Dark

I changed to MienShao because it's good for taking out most leads as well weather summoners. It takes out T-tars with a Fake out and HJK and Politoeds(if not defensive set) and opposing Ninetails with Fake Out and a HJK as well as many other Pokemon. Also people who have a ghost on his/her team my hidden power dark instead of ice to cripple switching in ghost predicting to obvious HJK. And U-Turn to get away.

2. Ninetails @ Focus Sash
Ability:Drought
Evs:252Atk/4SpD/252Spe
Nature:Timid
Moves:Flamethrower
Hidden Power ground
Solarbeam
Nasty Plot

Well Ninetails for summoning endless sun. You might ask why did he choose a Focus Sash. Well I made it sashed because it could revenge kill a faster Pokemon. So I pretty much change the entire set. Switching Fire Blast because I can't risk a miss while dealing with Excadrills and FerroThorns. But, i can still OHKO them. I switch Hypnosis because it misses a lot and not reliable. Also i can Nasty Plot predicting the switch or Nasty ploting with the sash. Solarbeam because it has more power than energy ball also I have sun anyways. You might say what if they change the weather energy ball does almost nothing to the other weather summoners anyways.(Thank You Alpha Wolf)

3: Venusaur @ Leftovers( Thanks to Eternal for suggestion )
Ability: Chlorophyll
Evs:4Hp/252SpA/252Spe
Nature:Modest
Moves:Growth
Solarbeam
Hidden Power Fire
Sleep Powder

Next I choose my Chlorophyll Sweeper Venusaur. I choose this over Sawsbucks. Because Sawsbucks cannot take a mach punch from Infernape and/or Conkeldurr which are pretty common also Venusaur is able to block toxic Spikes and use Sleep Powder to growth sweep. Solarbeam and Hp fire can take down anything that dares to come in Venusaurs way. Anything but dragons Unless +6 SpA.

4.Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 4 Hp/252SpA/252Spe
Nature:Timid
Moves: Draco Meteor
Dragon Pulse
Thunder
Psyshock

Because of Venusaurs lacking the ability to take down the common dragon threats my Next "Choice" (Get it? Choice) is Latios. To take down any dragon threat to my team also my mod to the smogon set is Thunder with 100% acc in rain it can also take down water types and politoeds. Also By removing surf I can add Dragon pulse and I have sweep more than half a team with it.

5. Victini @ Life Orb
Ability:Victory Star
Evs: 252Att/4Def/252Spee
Nature: Adamant
Moves: V-create
Fusion Bolt
U-turn
Brick Break

My next choose is Victini because of it's decent bulk and amazing V-create to take down any Eviolite Chanseys or Blisseys that dares to switch in. It can OHKO almost any pokemon who dares to switch into it. 180 power + Stab + Sun + Life Orb. Brick break recommended by #ratemyteam which has helped me take down steel types without the draw backs from V-Create

6.Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Evs: 172hp/252SpA/84Spe

Nature:Modest
Moves:Focus Blast
Psyshock
Recover
Calm Mind

I choose Reuniclus because it's perfect for calm minding in any weather and is able to sweep also it's decent bulk and High Hp is can take almost any move.

Thanks For Reading My First Post,

Not too bad, but I think its a bit too Offensive. Blissey walls your whole team except Ambipom, which wont be around long since you are running LO on it. Latios can take it, but if it is choice locked into another move, then it can come in with ease. Also, you only have one relible move to hit Gliscor with.

You have no physical attackers at all. Ambipom doesnt really suit this team. Sure, fake out and low kick is nice, but you are wrong about pursuit. Which ghost is going to run from Ambipom knowing it runs fake out, return and low sweep? Gengar will just sub up and focus blast.

Also, I'd say your team is too drought-centric. If you come up against a good rain team, you are honestly screwed. Think about running some non-drough abusers that can help against rain teams.

I'd run Sawsbuck over Ambipom as a physical chlorophyll abuser.

Thanks for the advise. But, my Victini can V-Create and OHKO a Blissey. And I tried Sawsbucks and priority kill it. Also its really hard to have a Sawsbucks set up when one hit can kill it.

Ah yeah, never realized till now that V-Create and Fusion Bolt were Physical attacks :s Egg all over my face :p.

Anyway, I still think you need a decent wall in your team. Maybe Rotom-W instead of Rotom-H? Can run almost the same set if you like, but I'd run a more defensive set with it. This acts as a wall against rain teams, plus it will have boosted STAB hydro pump in the rain. Try running 108hp|252spAtk|148speed and a moveset of Hydro Pump|Volt Switch|Pain Split|WOW. 148 Speed allows it to outrun Tyranitar, and hit it with STAB hydropump. Volt switch hits any water types SE with STAB and allows a switch back to Ninetails to get the sun up again. WOW can cripple any physical threats, which is good since alot of your team is weak to quake-edge, a common physical attacking combo. Pain split is Rotom-w's only form of recovery. It is quite bulky so it can take a hit or two anyway.

So i replaced Rotom-H with me Wotom(Rotom-W) and changed volt switch to thunder bolt and WOW to HP fire for a surprise factor to take down pokemon trying to set up on it or trying to set up SR or Spikes ( Ferrothorn ). Also anyone have any suggestions for a different lead or Anti-Lead?

I suggest giving a Meinshao anti-lead a try.

Meinshao @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
Naive/ Hasty Nature
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpA
Fake Out
HJK
U-Turn
Hidden Power Ice

Basically a more powerful version of ambipom that can't combat ghosts. Fake Out+HJK generally racks up more damage than Fake Out+Return. HP Ice for flying types. U-turn racks up a lot of damage to psychic types, while providing Meinshao with the ability to escape disadvantageous lead matchups.

I might try a little bit of a different moveset on Ninetails, more like this

038.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
Evs:252Atk/4SpD/252Spe
Nature:Timid
Moves:
Fire Blast
Nasty Plot
Solar Beam
Hypnosis

Solar Beam has more power obviously, and since your already in the sun, why not go for more power since Energy Ball isn't STAB ? Nasty Plot can be DEADLY on Ninetails, seeing as it has an already above average SpAtk. Also, I'd go with the Leftovers, your going to need the healing.

Hope this helped :)

Why run surf on your Latios is you are running sun? It won't end up doing much. I suggest maybe trick to cripple something that doesn't use specs or maybe dragon pulse to have a dragon move you could sweep with. I run surf on my Latios but the few times I have played sun surf was crippled.

Your team was rated by a bunch of our raters at #ratemyteam today at our lecture session. You can find a lot of helpful suggestions composed by us in the chat log saved here. Good luck!

The more I look at it, the more I like to see Snorlax in there, Very low iv's to speed and make his speed as low a number as possible (just incase of trick roomers) and he is able to absorb most of the things that will hurt this team. Also looks like you need a fighter counter. I run a sun team a lot and see heatran as a threat.

Hi there

Well on Miensheao HP Dark is not good HP Ice let's you Take on Gliscor and Dragons. Sun Teams also have problems with Latos and Latios and Latios does not beat them and Venasuar also falls to them. I Think Heatran would do wonders for this team plus you can use sun to the fullest.

Heatran@ Leftovers
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power Ice
-Toxic/Roar
4hp/252spd/252spe
Timid(+Spe-Atk)
Flash Fire

Heatran doesn't really need any special attack since you have a Sun boost. The speed let's you outspeed other Heatran but only if there bulky other wise it's a speed tie. Heatran should replace either Victini or Reuincluss they both don't seem viable to your team. Now Heatran here destroys Latios and Latios and with sun Surf is much weaker. Other wise great team and Good Luck
