ORAS OU Rate My Team Please!

Hello. This here is a team that i came up with a while ago. It took me some time because I'm new at competitive battling. Anyways, here is the team I came up with.

I didn't know where to begin when team building, so I chose a favoured pokemon and then built a team around it.

The Team

Dragonite

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

I chose the lum berry so that it would be a bit difficult to setup status conditions against it while I use dragon dance. After setting up I would have one stab and an earthquake against any steel or rock types. I also used extreme speed so that it can possibly out-speed mega lopunny.

Magnezone

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Signal Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch

I'm using magnezone to counter most weaknesses that dragonite has such as ice, rock, and fairy.I am using choice specs to get better special attack to go with stab moves like flash cannon and thunderbolt. Volt switch is also useful so I sometimes use it to start off, and switch out if i don't like my opponent. I would use HP fire but to get hidden powers in-game it would be very difficult doing so. Thus, I went with Signal beam instead to get rid of any ground, psychic, or dark types. Because of not having HP fire I also changed its ability back to sturdy.

Azumarill

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Belly Drum
- Knock Off
- Play Rough

I am using azumarill to counter most of magnezone's weaknesses and dragonite's last weakness to dragon types. If I need a quick revenge kill I can always use aqua jet, but the damage is strictly up to the enemy it's attacking. If there are no threats to azumarill I'll use belly drum and sweep with my attacks.

Gliscor

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Toxic
- Taunt

I decided to use gliscor since it can cover azumarill's weaknesses to poison and electric, while also being a taunt stall-breaker. I chose an impish nature and special defense EVs to be more defensive specially, while still maintaining a good physical defense stat. I use protect to get a free look at my opponents move, while also activating poison heal. Earthquake is used for STAB, while taunt can stop any potential sweepers or walls from setting up. If an opponent is forced to switch, Toxic comes into play.

Tyranitar
Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Assault vest should give it an estimated 354 special defense, while sand stream to setup weather conditions. I'm using tyranitar to check any strong flying types like talonflame or staraptor. I have crunch and stone edge for regular stab. Earthquake is to take out any special steel types like heatran, while fire blast is for taking out any regular steel types.

Togekiss

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 4 SpD / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Nasty Plot
- Aura Sphere
- Roost

I've chosen togekiss to take out any fighting or ice and steel types. I am also considering dazzling gleam to help get rid of any dragon types. Nastly plot is to get high special attack. From there, I can just use air slash or dazzling gleam. Roost is to regain any health lost during or after setup. Hit point and defense EVs to gain a bit of bulk, and speed EVs to out-speed a fair amount of opponents.

With this being the first team I made, I will appreciate any suggestions to help make my team better and stronger, whether a simple move change or changing a pokemon overall. Thank you for reading!

Cool team! :D Welcome to Smogon!

To be honest, I think Magnezone needs HP Fire, so HP Fire > Signal Beam works well. Signal Beam doesn't really do much for you anyways, and btw Signal Beam does not hit ground for super effective damage. Also, that looks like a weird Magnezone EV spread, I would try the max SpA max Speed one, although I don't know how well that would do for your team. In addition, if you're not going to be using Magnet Pull (which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND with HP Fire), at least use Analytic > Sturdy, since if you force a switch your moves get more power. Besides, you're running the bulky variant, so you're going to get outsped by lots of things anyways. By the way, if you need to get a HP Fire Magnezone in-game, just hop over to the wifi room on PS! and ask for one, I'm sure someone will have one that they're willing to trade.

Having a Multiscale Dragonite, your Togekiss definitely needs to have Defog. I'm not sure which move to replace it with, probably Nasty Plot and you can change Thunder Wave > Aura Sphere, thus making Togekiss a more bulkier oriented variant. I don't know what the right EV spread is for it, you'll probably have to get it from someone else, as I'm not an avid Togekiss user.

You might want to consider Outrage > Dragon Claw on Dragonite, as it hits things considerably harder.

I'm not so sure about having AV TTar, and with this you could probably run the physically defensive variant on Gliscor, since TTar sponges special hits well already. As I said, I don't know the right spread for Togekiss, but probably a mixed defensive variant. If you decide to run the bulky Togekiss, then you could even try the Swords Dance variant on Gliscor, but this change isn't mandatory.

So far, I only made some minor tweaks to some movesets and EV spreads, because I'm in a rush atm so I can't exactly do any big changes.

Consider Outrage > Dragon Claw

HP Fire > Signal Beam; Magnet Pull > Sturdy; consider 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Physically Defensive / Swords Dance > Specially Defensive

Defog > Nasty Plot; Thunder Wave > Aura Sphere; different EV spread
Again, welcome to Smogon, and I hope I helped!

I personally think this team currently lacks focus. Your goal seems to be to set-up a Dragonite sweep, but the team provides no support for it. This makes it hard to guarantee Dragonite will not find itself walled by a Clefable or revenge-killed by a Weavile. The easiest fix to this I can suggest is to run a Gliscor set with Stealth Rock and maybe U-Turn. By doing this, you can use Gliscor to bait out Dragonite checks such as Skarmory or Slowbro, set up rocks on the switch, and U-Turn or switch out to Magnezone. to have them switch out and add up Stealth Rock damage.

If you follow Absollite's advice and use HP-Fire, I suggest you consider giving it a Choice Scarf to outspeed offensive max Speed Scizors with Superpower. I also second the idea of running a physically defensive spread in Gliscor to allow it to check Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Metagross, and Excadrill. Gliscor's 75 base SpD, weaknesses to Water and Ice really inhibit its effectiveness as a Special Wall. Dragonite having Outrage over Dragon Claw might also prove useful in the late-game, although this assumes Fairy- and Steel-types were already weakened by them, which might not be completely true with your current team, so you might want to test Outrage first before committing to a decision.

One of Dragonite's greatest assets is Multiscale, so a Rapid-Spinner would be a great addition to a team using him as a late-game sweeper. I would suggest trying Starmie instead of Azumarill to fill this role, but that would obviously require further changes to cover up the resulting weakspots. If you follow this idea, I would recommend running a team along the lines of Dragonite/Gliscor/Starmie/Heatran/Breloom/[Sixth Pokemon]. Gliscor would set up rocks and bait-up physical walls as stated above; Starmie would spin and check bulky waters, Skarm, and Hippowdon baited out by Gliscor; Heatran could weaken Waters and bait-up set-up fodder for Dragonite due to its complementary typing with respect to Dragonite; and Breloom could round up coverage and provide priority in Mach Punch.

I hope this helps and feel free to agree or disagree with any of my suggestions.

Hey, really nice team here however it have some flaws but i'll try to fix them.

Bisharp, is a huge threat to your team since you can't handle hit well (your only check is Dragonite with Multiscale and god know how its hard to keep him at full which is impossible without an entry hazard remover). Charizard-X, is another threat which you can't handle because it can just 6-0 you since you don't have a fast Scarfer, Landorus-T or a mon with Prankster. You don't have Stealth Rocks on your team which is, the most important move on the game since it allow you to limit opposing switch in and to weaken Fire,Flyers mon (for exemple).

First of all, i'd suggest to use Choice Scarf set over the Choice Specs one on your Magnezone, it will allow you to revenge kill effectively M-Pinsir, Thundurus and some M-Altaria variant, Hidden Power Fire is mandatory on this set because main utility of Magnezone is to trapkill steel types (Skarmory,Ferrothorn and Scizor) and having mon(s) which can take advantage of that (like Dragonite, Azumarill or Weavile).

I'd recommend to use Scarf Landorus-T over Gliscor, it will allow you to work as great physical attacker checks (M-Lopunny,M-Gross, Hoopa-U and Zard-X), it will still work as Ground immunity/Fighting resistence, it can also revenge kill many annoying things like Zard-X at +1 or Thundurus.

Since you don't really have problem with Lati@s and Electric types, i'd recommend to use Breloom over Tyranitar, Tyranitar AV is very bad in general because even without it, it can still work as trapkiller/check for many special attacker and Scarf,Band or any other item are better. Breloom will work as solid Bisharp check, Spore, is also another great move since it can allow you to put asleep one opposing mon which is a good new. Sword Dance can pressure stall teams.

Togekiss, need Entry Hazard remover support (Dragonite doesn't, for exemple need it since it will be used only in late game to clean) and you still lack of a Stealth Rocker which can be work well on your team. Heatran is a really great choice for that

With Magnezone support,i think its better to play the Choice Band set on Azumarill over the Belly Drum one.

Outrage is an option on Dragonite over Dragon Claw.
