Read 'Em and Weep (Gen 5 OU)

So there has been something staring me right in the face about this generation and the minor (ok major) change in battles: the team view jawnskie jawn. This little guy allows you to see your team before you even start to fight the opponent. This means being able to read the weaknesses on your tem earlier than ever before is an important new strategy in this Gen, and this is a team that tries to find each whole. Note, this is one of my first ever competitive creations so there are probably some holes, hence why you guys are here to help me.

Tangrowth
-Sleep Powder
-Giga Drain
-Earthquake
-Leech Seed
Ability: Regenerator
Nature: Relaxed
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Isn't he just the doofiest looking guy ever? Well this dummy sure can take a few hits. Hes my physical tank, and quite annoying to the opponent with Leech Seed and Sleep Powder. This also makes me not worry about Tyranitar leads with Earthquake + Giga Drain.

Starmie
-Rapid Spin
-Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt
-Recover
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Entry hazards? I laugh at you! I will chuck you away, pound on whoever you have laying them, and recover away any damage I took. That was my thoughts when I added him, this only issue with hazard guys he really has is with Ferrothorn, but who DOESN'T have issues getting rid of him? Hydro Pump for STAB, TBolt for coverage, Recover to heal.

TogePISS(people off)
-Thunder Wave
-Air Slash
-Aura Sphere
-Roost
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Calm
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
- Nothing makes me happier than seeing an opponent rage quit. Paralysis + Air Slash + Serene Grace? Yes please! Togekiss is here to tank Special Sweeping guys, then proceed to run them into the ground, slowly but surely. Roost to heal is obvious.

Mamoswine
-Ice Shard
-Icicle Drop
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
Nature: Adamant
EVs.: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-First thoughts: Mamoswine? Yes, he works surprisingly well with Togekiss I find. Togekiss paralizes pokes, they switch Togekiss paralizes again, etc. Keep that up till Toge dies and Mamo's biggest flaw (slow speed with turrble bulk) is now cut in half. He can now make good use of STAB Icicle Crash (which is an epic move) and STAB Earthquake. He is also here in case I run into the rare Hail team.

Conkeldurr
-Bulk Up
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch
-Stone Edge
item: Leftovers
ability: Guts
nature: Adamant
evs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SpD
- My main physical sweeper. Set is probably overused but that's cause it works. Bulk up to epic numbers, punch to death, rinse, repeat. Stone Edge over Payback because Gyarados gives me some issues.

Volcapwner
-Quiver Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Fiery Dance
-Morning Sun
Ability: Flame Body
Nature: Timid
Item: Life Orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Probably the best special sweeper in Gen 5. This guy can set up with Quiver dance, then becomes bulky enough on the special side that he can heal if needed. Fiery Dance over Fire Blast because it misses too much.
Final Thoughts:
It feels like I'm missing a true "lead" poke. I usually throw out either Star, Toge, or Tang depending on who I think my opponent will start with, but that is a bit too much prediction early on for my liking.

If you are running all attacking moves on Mamo, go for CB. Having 2 set up sweepers is kind of risky, as Taunt users will shut you down. So try SubPunch Conkeldurr.

Even though might not be more to add; you should. Talk about what your pokemon counter, what you have trouble with, what youre thinking of replacing (you can view more popular rmts for guidance( and why the hell you have both giga drain and earthquake on a tangrowth. If you need some help with sets battling 101 is always there dont just jump straight to making an rmt.

This is to avoid youre thread from getting locked AND to make a good rmt.

I figured i had to do the checks and counters still (im on a phone atm) but im not seeing a big issue with EQ + GD. There are no EVs invested into either Att or SpAt and his base stats are close enough that the difference is negligible. Giga Drain gains HP on the attack and EQ does more damage to TTar leads since his SpDef goes up in the sandstorm.

You've written that you're given Tangrowth Earthquake so it can handle Tyranitar. That's not true, Earthquake will fail to 3HKO most Tyranitars. You don't want to stay in on Tyranitars because you're just going to get blown away by Fire Blast. So there's not much point giving Tangrowth Earthquake. You want to beat those pesky Garchomps and Gliscors and Landlos' with your Tangrowth. And if you want to do, then you would want to give it Hidden Power Ice. Or else these guys won't have a hard time setting up on you and you'll have a hard time beat them.

Nothing in your team is really taking a Specs Draco Meteor from Latios. Meaning you're making it way too easy for Latios to destroy your whole spamming Specs Dragon Pulse. If you want your team to be similar, you can replace Togekiss for Jirachi. Jirachi can do several other things that Togekiss can't while being haxy. With this set:

Jirachi @ Leftovers -- Serene Grace
Nature: Careful - EVs: 252 HP / 216 SDef / 40 Spd
- Body Slam
- Protect
- Wish
- Iron Head

This will provide your team with Wish support, so you can heal your Pokemon when switching after using it. You can Paralyze your foe with Body Slam, you have a 60% chance of doing so. And Iron Head adds another 60% chance of flinching. Not only that, this set works great at countering Latios and taking those Draco Meteors. You also have nothing to deal with Reuniclus, so this set will actually let you paralyze Reuniclus then easily sweep it with Iron Head + paraflinch hax.

Try it, and good luck. If you need more help with your team, you can come over to #ratemyteam channel on SynIRC for help.

I really like that Jirachi set and actually will work really well with the rest of my team thanks :)

And I thought EQ did more damage. Doh! >.<

Hey duckberg, sweet team you got here. I especially like the Tangrowth, who I imagine by the end of battles opponents think "Shit...that thing's STILL not dead?"

I understand your need for a spinner, but I think starmie is just too squishy to warrant Recover on, as he can barely get away with Rapid Spinning before hungry Pursuiters come in. I would try out Psychic for extra coverage, or if you find he dies too quickly change the EV's to a bulkier build.

As for Volcanara, have you tried the ChestoRest set? Everyone expects the Quiver Dance into sweep, but if you go with a bulky EV spread you can trick opponents into thinking that they're wearing you down with status/chip damage as you QD to +3 +4 and rest back to full. If you love seeing people rage quit, then it's an experience you can't miss!

yeah SR is a major issue for Volcrona, if you have an idea for a better one I'd be more than happy to open an ear.

And what about running the Quiver set with Volcarona having a bulkier set. Kinda combining both ideas together :P

well you said you dont have a true lead pokemon, why not lead with volcarano? this eliminates the possiblity that SR will cut his hp in half, if you gave him a focus sash or made him relativly bulky, you could garentee a QD and then you can deal massive amounts of damage before your opponent can set up his stategy. Its a great way to put your opponent on the defensive, and help you gain and early edge by weakening several of your opponents pokemon - for mach/shard to finish up later- or outright KOing them.

Tangrowth might be able to kill some ttar, but it won't survive itself. Why? Because most tyranitars use fire blast instead of physical attacks, in order to beat ferrothorn. Without sp. def EV's, I doubt you're going to be surviving much. So stop trying to beat TTar, and put something else useful on there. HP ice might work well?

Before I even started reading your team descriptions, I noticed you don't have a dragon resist. Latios with Draco Meteor and ScarfChomp with Fire Blast, Outrage, and StoneEdge for Volcorona will hurt your team pretty hard. The metagame pretty much depends on having one.
