Recommended Xbox 360 games.

Xbox Live is very much worth it. It allows you to hook up your Xbox over the internet and play with people in a party over WiFi so you can play with people (up to 16) even if none of your friends are available (and without flooding your house to play 16 people).
So, if you get one of those headsets, you can talk to people? cool.
Also, what are the 'Xbox live leaderboards'?

I don't have virtual console, but most games are a few dollars, as are HD movies. Old retail games for Xbox are available for 10$ and some big indie titles (oxymoron but including Penny Arcade Rain-slick precipie of darkness, and Braid) cost around 15$.

DID YOU BUY TALES OF VESPERIA YET?

Man, I did not know a 360 was so Cheap in Canada. I shall trade in my regular Xbox immediately!

btw, is Xbox live any good, and how does it even work?
Do it asap. It's hard to find now. Most Future Shops are sold out. Luckily my friend price matched it at Best Buy on Saturday when the Kelowna, Vernon, and Chilliwack stores still showed stock. My other friend price matched it today at Superstore with Vernon showing stock. In Alberta, I'm not sure exactly which stores have stock... It's going fast.

Well I checked Best Buy, there are still some Xboxes left, but I live in Banff, so the closest one is in Calgary =(
I'm not sure if I should even bother driving up there...

Surgo, you can buy the game before you get the console ya know!

It's gone and the site doesn't show the product anymore so I think you've missed it. It's $260 for the 20GB at Best Buy.

If you do decide to get it, it is well worth it. Games are pricey at $60 Us dollars brand new. I'd definitely buy Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, and maybe an RPG (Fable 2 is coming out Christmas time?) But , you'll love it, you can take my word for that.

I've been thinking about getting a 360, the price drop is a good excuse.

I checked the Best Buy site and it still has it, $260. Is it cheaper anywhere else or is Best Buy the way to go?

$260 is standard price for that 20 GB model at this point.

I just got my Xbox 360 set up today after some reorganization of my dorm to a more optimal configuration for video game parties and, I have to say, they make getting on to Xbox Live as onerous as possible. Also there's a serious namespace issue...they really need to let you set whatever name you want and just give you a fucking serial number.

Oblivion is a fantastic game, completely immersive if you have a little imagination. Gears of War is a close second for me, although you need xbox live to fully appreciate it. You're probably better off waiting for GoW2 in November (I think?) as most of the people still playing online are pretty good.

Sports games of your choice are always an obvious bet, I've also thoroughly enjoyed Viva Pinata, GTA IV and Hitman over the last couple of years.

For what seems odd to me I havent heard anyone mention Fable 2. Personally I think this will be a very good game for people who are experienced with the Fable series or new people also. From what ive seen from gameplay to previews I suggest people take a look at this title.

*Gets in his Car for the boring ride to Calgary*
I'll try to go on Saturday. Looks Like I'll also get COD4.
Don't you have a Wal-Mart or Zellers or Superstore or something to price match at? None of the Future Shops in Calgary have it.

*ahem*

also 300th post.

Since I am currently Living in this shitty ass mountain town for the moment (next 2 months)... Dad's job, I'm not too familiar with the layout of the town, but I'm sure as hell that there is no Walmart or Superstore here. I WILL have to go to Calgary's superstore to get it price checked.

Or wait till I get back to move back to Edmonton, but by then it may have gone back to regular price.

Ah fuck it, I'll ask one of my friends to get one and hold on to it. I'll pay him back later.

The experiment IS working!!! Seriously though, I got a 360 a few months ago and I like it. I don't really have anything to add as far as games go. My 360 got the red ring of death and was gone for a month or so, and I have not played anything recent other than SCIV.

I think the thing with Fable is that the original was such an anticlimax. It's not that it was bad, it's just that Peter Molyneux is so good at talking things up that it sounded like it was going to be amazing.

Pretty much the same thing is happening with Fable 2, it's just people are wise enough to take what he says with a pinch of salt now - so excitement hasn't really built in the same way. It'll probably be good though.
