re: why are bots dangerous? i'd also like to add: bots are not subject to the same psychological fallacies as human players. a bot doesn't have a hard day and make bad choices because they're frustrated, or have to play tired because they didn't get much sleep, or get intimidated because they're up against a big name player or playing with their/their team's tournament lifespan on the line. not only is it nigh impossible to identify an undisclosed bot in the moment, and not only is it able to simulate out every possible instance in a matter of seconds, but a bot will be performing to the best of its ability every time, all of the time, and while this may start out mundane it will only rapidly ramp up as bots are made better and gain more information to absorb (as we have seen in several recent instances). this isn't to say that bots can't be WRONG or imply they're unbeatable, pokemon is still a game with a heavy element of random chance attached and predictions are still just that even when simulated to the nth degree, but it is of note that they do not have to weather the same conditions as human players. it's like trying to play soccer in the rain while the other team is entirely unfazed by it.
