[SET]
Raging Bolt @ Leftovers / Air Balloon
Name: Calm Mind (Dragon)
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 80 HP / 200 SpA / 12 SpD / 216 Spe
IVs: 20 Atk
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Thunderclap
[SET COMMENTS]
With its Electric-type STAB moves and access to Calm Mind, Raging Bolt finds itself as a powerful setup sweeper for Dragon teams capable of dealing with threats like Primarina, Greninja, and Enamorus. Draco Meteor threatens Ground-types like Gliscor that come into Raging Bolt's Electric-type moves, notably having a favorable chance of OHKOing it after Stealth Rock with one Calm Mind. Thunderbolt allows Raging Bolt to strike down Calm Mind Primarina, Dondozo, and defensive Gyarados, and Thunderclap lets it pick off faster threats like Greninja, Enamorus, (AC) and Hisuian Samurott. After a Calm Mind boost and Stealth Rock damage, Thunderclap is also capable of OHKOing neutral targets like Iron Valiant. Leftovers allows Raging Bolt to slowly heal itself and prevent it from being worn down too much from any chip damage. Air Balloon can be run over Leftovers to avoid Ground-type moves from Pokemon like Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Choice item Iron Treads, and use them as setup opportunities. The given EV spread lets Raging Bolt outpace Adamant Bisharp and survive Flutter Mane's Moonblast after a Calm Mind.
Setup sweepers like Roaring Moon and Kommo-o form a dangerous offensive core with Raging Bolt, as they deal with dedicated walls Raging Bolt is unlikely to break through such as Galarian Slowking and Hisuian Goodra, respectively. Archaludon sets up Stealth Rock, checks Weavile with Body Press, and switches into physical threats like Meowscarada and Azumarill. In return, Raging Bolt deals with special attacking threats like Greninja and Keldeo, which Archaludon detests. Dragapult can utilize a variety of sets to support Raging Bolt, as it can spread status with Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave to let Raging Bolt set up easier, don a Choice Scarf to revenge kill threats like Meowscarada with Draco Meteor or U-turn, or use a Choice Specs set to batter special walls like Alolan Muk alongside Raging Bolt. Garchomp provides more entry hazards with Spikes and deals with Hisuian Goodra and Clodsire with Earthquake, and it can use a Swords Dance set that thrives once Raging Bolt removes nuisances like Corviknight, Dondozo, and Gliscor. Choice Scarf Latias provides a Ground immunity, Trick to take advantage of shared checks in Ting-Lu and Galarian Slowking, which creates more setup opportunities for Raging Bolt, and Healing Wish, which lets Raging Bolt be more reckless in taking heavy damage to forcibly eliminate roadblocks for its teammates. Latias also deals with fast threats like Choice Scarf Great Tusk and Garchomp for Raging Bolt. Dragonite provides a Ground-type immunity that is not vulnerable to Mold Breaker Excadrill as well as powerful priority in Extreme Speed, which is extremely threatening once Raging Bolt removes Skarmory and Quagsire. Hisuian Goodra swaps into opposing Draco Meteor and forces progress by removing Heavy-Duty Boots and recovery items from key walls with Knock Off.

Dragon

Dragon Fang lets Raging Bolt outright OHKO Gliscor and OHKO Swampert, Iron Treads, and Hisuian Goodra after minimal chip damage with +1 Draco Meteor, but Raging Bolt is usually more likely to use Electric-type moves throughout a match. Dragon Fang also forces Raging Bolt to forego Leftovers, making it much easier to wear down. Heavy-Duty Boots is an alternative item that can be taken to help Raging Bolt deal with entry hazards consistently in order to prevent it from being worn down. Dragon Pulse can be used over Draco Meteor to prevent Raging Bolt from becoming setup fodder while still 2HKOing most of the targets Draco Meteor hits, such as Quagsire. However, the move's significant decrease in overall power against Raging Bolt's targets can result in it taking an extra hit or status move that it didn't need to before, most notably against Gliscor. An alternative EV spread of 252 HP / 92 Def / 108 SpA / 56 Spe with a Modest nature lets Raging Bolt avoid a 2HKO from Gliscor and Quagsire, always 2HKO both with Dragon Pulse, and outspeed Adamant Azumarill.
