VGC Rillaboom

[OVERVIEW]

* Rillaboom maintains its status as a premier Fake Out pivot thanks to U-turn, Grassy Glide, and Grassy Terrain. Rillaboom fits on many archetypes and has a wide range of playstyles. Rillaboom is a great counter to Water-types like Urshifu-R and Ogerpon-W, as it is able to switch into their attacks and pressure them for huge damage if not a KO.

* Assault Vest Rillaboom is the most common set currently, as it checks Flutter Mane, and can switch in on special threats and threaten with Fake Out or Grassy Glide.

* Common Rillaboom partners include Urshifu-R and Incineroar to complete the Fire / Water / Grass core, and more offensive sets pair well with Entei and Chien-Pao with priority spam. Other great partners are defensive Pokemon such as Calm Mind Raging Bolt that benefit from Grassy Terrain recovery and Fake Out.

* Common Rillaboom checks include Fire-types, Intimidate Pokemon to greatly reduce Rillaboom's damage output, and Pokemon that resist Grass. This includes Entei, Dragonite, and especially Incineroar.

[SET]
Offensive Pivot (Rillaboom) (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Grass / Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Atk / 44 Def / 60 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Wood Hammer
- Grassy Glide
- U-turn / High Horsepower

[SET COMMENTS]

* Rillaboom is generally restricted to Fake Out, Wood Hammer, and Grassy Glide, with the 4th move usually being U-turn to pivot and sometimes High Horsepower to check Fire- and Steel-types, that would otherwise completely wall Rillaboom.

* Rillaboom may run Tera Grass to boost its already high levels of damage, or Tera Fire to stay in on common threats such as Incineroar and Chien-Pao and U-turn out to safely bring in a frailer Pokemon.

* The EV spread allows Rillaboom to almost always survive Entei's Sacred Fire and avoid the 2HKO from Protosythesis-boosted Flutter Mane's Moonblast while retaliating with a OHKO. Thanks to its priority moves, Rillaboom can afford to not invest in Speed.

[SET]
Offensive Nuke (Rillaboom) @ Miracle Seed
Ability: Grassy Surge
Level: 50
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 12 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- Protect / U-turn / High Horsepower

[SET COMMENTS]

* Maximum Attack along with Tera Grass allows Rillaboom to always KO Flutter Mane with Sword of Ruin-boosted Grassy Glide. Protect is favored as the last move, as Rillaboom loses a lot of the bulk from the Assault Vest.

* This set generally looks for all-or-nothing plays, picking up OHKOs against common tanks such as Iron Hands, Farigiraf, and Ogerpon-W with Wood Hammer, and picking up KOs on frailer pokemon with Grassy Glide.

* This set can struggle against Intimidate, especially Incineroar, as the sudden drop to its Attack can severely minimize the obsurdity of Rillaboom's attacks, allowing bulkier Pokemon to survive a boosted Wood Hammer.

* The EV spread allows Rillaboom to survive Tera Stellar Ice Spinner from Chien-Pao at -1 and almost always take Fairy Feather Tera Fairy Flutter Mane's Moonblast. Rillaboom can afford to forgo Speed investment, as it already outspeeds common slow Pokemon like Farigiraf and Incineroar.

Great work, emember to put it all in one post, I will be doing a recheck to make sure everything went smoothly.

Add, Remove, Highlight, Comment.

[OVERVIEW]

*Rillaboom maintains its almost Z-Move power with Wood Hammer, and with the sudden drop in Iron Hands usage means Rillaboom is still a heavy hitter and a contender for the title of Reg F staple. However, with the addition of Incineroar, the first Intimidate user that switches in positively against Wood Hammer (previous intimidators Arcanine-H, Landorus-T, and even Gyarados do intimidate Rillaboom, but don't switch in on it's 156bp Wood Hammers), Rillaboom has ground to cover in many games. (Incineroar can go in common checks section, Iron Hands is unnecessary, really just want to be briefly referencing why Rillaboom is a good Pokemon, talk about how hard it hits and the utility it has acces to.)

*Rillaboom's nemesis Incineroar also proves to be one of the strongest Pokemon paired with Rillaboom. The notorious Fire Water Grass synergy and combined access to pivot moves and fake out make Rillaboom and Incineroar one of VGC's deadliest duos. Rillaboom pairs very well with both frail cannons such as Flutter Mane and Landorus-I (It's the Base form.) due to its access to Fake Out and having the bulk to switch in on some of the strongest attacks in the game. Rillaboom also pairs very nicely with bulkier setup Pokemon, Pokemon like Gholdengo, and Raging Bolt and other setup mons that commonly use leftovers may pair it with Rillaboom to gain access to fakeout to setup, which appreciate the free turns from Fake Out and the combination of Grassy Terrain and Leftovers produces unseen levels of longevity, recovering 25% HP every time it protects. (Mainly just trimming this bullet point as a lot of it is unnecessary.)

* Rillaboom maintains its status as a premier Fake Out pivot, with access to Fake Out, thanks to (Fake Out is a bit obvious.) U-Turn, Grassy Glide, (AC) and other impressive qualities such as Grassy Terrain, and strong priority in Grassy Glide, (Already mentioned.) Rillaboom fits many roles on many archetypes and has access to a wide range of playstyles.

* Assault Vested Rillaboom is the most common set currently as checking it checks Flutter Mane and being able to can switch in on special threats and threaten with Fake Out or priority is something other pivots dream of.

* Common Rillaboom partners include Urshifu-R and Incineroar to complete the Fire Water Grass trio, more offensive sets contribute to Entei and Chien-Pao with on more offensive sets to contribute to the offensive priority spam, and defensive Pokemon such as Calm Mind Raging Bolt that benifit from Grassy Terrain recovery and Fake Out can abuse the terrain to sit on Earthquake in niche cases. (Irrelevant rn.)

* Common Rillaboom checks include Fire types to abuse Rillaboom's Mono-Grass type, Intimidate Pokemon to greatly reduce Rillaboom's damage output, and generally Pokemon that can resist Rillaboom's Grass-type stab. This includes Entei, Dragonite, and especially Incineroar.

Comments:

* Rillaboom is generally restricted to Fake Out, Wood Hammer, and Grassy Glide, with the 4th move generally being U-Turn to pivot and sometimes High Horsepower to check Fire and Steel types that would otherwise completely wall Rillaboom.

* Rillaboom may run Tera Grass to boost its already Z-Move levels of damage or Tera Fire to stay in on common threats such as Incineroar or Chien-Pao and U-Turn out to safely bring in a frailer Pokemon.

* EVs allow Rillaboom to switch on on most neutral hits, both physical and special and retaliate with its incredibly high attack stat. Thanks to priority Grassy Glide, Rillaboom generally does not need to run speed as it would prefer the bulk to stay on the field as long as possible. (What does the EV spread do?)

(Add Miracle Seed setand credits here, it was relevant enough to mention earlier and is plenty popular right now.)

* Spread allows Rillaboom to always survive 116+ Sacred Fire from Entei and dumps into special bulk. Speed is unneeded as Rillaboom's speed tier allows it to outspeed most Wood Hammer threats. (Bit hard to understand, 'bulkier threats' or just saying Glide is strong work.)

GP 1/1, but we do have an issue with the EV spread for the second one. Using non-max EVs to creep another non-max EV threshold is bad practice and should be removed during QC, as it just encourages people to creep Attack on Entei, which encourages Def creep on Rilla, etc and gets outdated quickly. I defer to QC on how to fix this, but this spread should not be uploaded as-is.
