Rillaboom @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- High Horsepower / U-turn
This groovy starter likes to glide around in its Grassy Terrain! Rillaboom is an offensive support capable of disrupting foes with Fake Out alongside threatening strong priority Grass-type damage with Grassy Glide and dealing devastating damage with Wood Hammer boosted by Grassy Surge. High Horsepower allows Rillaboom to reliably damage Steel- and Fire-types like Gholdengo and Chi-Yu, while U-turn allows Rillaboom to pivot easily. Tera Fire transforms Rillaboom's weakness to Ice- and Fire-type attacks into a resistance, inverting its negative matchup against Chien-Pao and Chi-Yu. The EV spread maximizes Rillaboom's Attack and bulk, the latter of which is further bolstered by Assault Vest, allowing Rillaboom to survive Sludge Bomb from Glimmora and Bleakwind Storm from Tornadus. Rillaboom threatens bulky Tera Water foes like Ogerpon-W and Gholdengo and OHKOes Ting-Lu with Wood Hammer when Sword of Ruin is active. Bulky setup pokemon such as Gholdengo and Raging Bolt appreciate U-turn re-enabling Fake Out and the healing from Grassy Terrain. Rillaboom additionally overrides Psychic Terrain, allowing priority attackers like Kingambit to attack freely.
