Effect: When this Pokémon attacks an opponent of the same gender as itself, the move power increases by 25%. When this Pokémon attacks an opponent of the opposite gender, the move power decreases by 25%. The damage is unaltered if either Pokémon has no gender.

Completly an unrealiable ability with any doubts, or not?, in simulators Pokemon are males by default, it would be a good approach to use it, albeit unreliable anyways, but don't forget Blissey, Chansey, Latias and Cresselia among others are always females and most of legendaries, Starmie, Magneton/Magnezone, Bronzong... are always genderless.

But also good players in Pokemon usually tend to customize their pokemon, giving it a custom gender, so making it even more unreliable.

High risk, high reward without any doubts.

The best user of this Ability is without any doubts Haxorus, when this ability benefits it, it has the strongest stat Attack in the game, and even better when counting the fact that it has the move Outrage, but when this ability hinders it, it hinders it so much, reducing notably its capacity of destroying everything, at least with its absurdly base attack it does not change it as a sitting duck.
Also it has to leave the option of having Mold Breaker as ability, a piece of extract of my opinion about the drawbacks of having Rivalry over Mold Breaker:

Honestly, the only reliable use of this ability is on PO, hoping people don't care about changing the genders of their pokes (admit it, 50% of people seeing this don't change genders, other 49% do it for Attract trolls, AOPSUser is the 1%).

Another nail in the coffin is that pretty much every poke that has this ability has a better one

Mold Breaker is better on Haxorus, Guts is better on Luxray, Nidoking/queen have Sheer Force, and Unfezant has Super Luck.

That leaves us with Beautifly. Hooray?

Mold breaker allows that OHKO on dragonite, which is something that not many can boast in OU. Combine that with the fact that Rivalry is negated by any female or genderless pokemon, and it's a gimmick ability, imo.

The only time I've ever really used or seen it be used very often was on Haxorus. If it gets the boost, it has an incredible equivalent of a Base 196 Atk stat. Rivalry Haxorus was probably better earlier on when most people just went with the default gender (male). Now it seems that a lot of people are running female gender on Pokemon like Skarmory just to better handle the occasional Rivalry Haxorus. I myself run female on some of my Pokemon to better handle it, as well as random jokers throwing around Attract.

Don't ever use on Wi-Fi, though. Just don't.

This pretty much sums everything up. It's unreliable and every viable pokemon that gets it has a better ability anyways.

Only use for it is in simulators like PO. Definitely not competitive (or atleast as competitive as Attract)

With so many Pokemon that are genderless and the fact that there's plenty of female only Pokemon (mainly Blissey) and plenty of people change the gender to female, you won't actually get the boost as often as you'd like.

And Haxorus should never use anything other than Mold Breaker because it allows it to KO Dragonite at full health, OHKO Sturdy users, and hit Levitate users with Earthquake so it isn't forced to lock itself into Outrage.

Choice Band Haxorus can get the KO on Dragonite with Rivalry through Multiscale. Male Adamant max Attack CB Haxorus Outrage vs. 252/0 Dragonite= 239.986932%-282.337567%.

Even when Rivalry loses Attack, there is still a chance to KO through Multiscale with a Choice Band, and without a Choice Band while getting the Rivalry boost. However, you wouldn't use Rivalry on any other set, since the only boosting set worth using is the Double Dance set, and that needs all the EQ coverage it can get. Also, the Scarf set is pretty bad IMO, so that's not even being considered.

Some people go female just in case attract or rivalry. Also, correct me if wrong but the only popular user is Haxorus, which benefits a lot more from mold breaker due to rotom/dragonite, at least in my opinion.

So yeah, Haxorus has better options.
