RM Rain Dance Team

I think I need to improve my Rain Dance team, Hope you guys can help. For the record, I don't plan on battling Ubers or Legends. I don't hate them or anything, I just don't care for them.

Nature: Impish
EV's: 240 HP/ 56 Atk/ 212 Def

Swords Dance up and then attack away. X-Scissor helps take care of Grass and Stone Edge takes care of Flying types.

Changes in Bold.

If I have to change EV's, let me know, I'm not an expert on EV's and such.

I'll be playing with Evasion Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause.

claydol shouldnt be on a rain dance team because its already weak to water and its slow, theres a lot of water pokes so thunder can easily be abused, SD yache chomp beats gyara, can get SD off on toxicroak while it uses sucker punch, it can SD on swampert and claydol, and than yache berry protects it from ice beam, its also likely to be able to take a surf, after an SD garchomp OHKOs everything

Kingdra's Ice Beam beats Garchomp. If I do battle one holding a Yache Berry, it'll probably have been used before it battles Kingdra. Garchomp isn't the hardest pokemon to counter.

So what if Claydol's slow. So what if he's weak water. Big deal. That's like saying don't use Bronzong or Snorlax.

No offense, but your advice doesn't seem like good advice at all.

claydol is weak to water moves and since its slow water pokes can come in with ease on it, also garchomp can revenge kingdra:avatar2:

Garchomp is one of the most difficult pokemon to counter, hence why he's being debated on going to the uber tier, and you dont want claydol on a rain dance team because anything barring surf in the OU tier can OHKO him if its stab.

EDIT:
Wow i just saw you were the Op and to respond like that to help shows you have some nerve. If your going to criticize people for trying to help you out then you shouldn't of posted it.

Well, I apologize, but instead of telling me how bad Claydol is, can you please tell what would be a pokemon to replace him for that's not Uber or Legend?

from my experience of building rain dance teams ive learned a couple of things:
1. kingdra @ life orb is one of the deadliest pokemon in the game
2. setting up a rain dance with a pokemon holding damp rock is mandatory
3. you want at your sweepers than benfit from the rain not to be walled (to prevent switching)

a quick glance at your team shows that all 3 of my criteria arent followed. first off, i would suggest giving kingdra waterfall in place of rain dance and taking away rain dance. I would also give it life orb and change its nature so that its defence is lowered. Kingdra is a best and with life orb will guarantee you 1 kill at least and take a shitload out of the second pokemon.

for 2 i would suggest using an uxie in place of claydol and giving it damp rock. uxie is bulkyier, faster, and can do more than claydol can as stealth rock should not bother a rain dance team as it is almost pure offense. uxie will most likely be able to set off rain dance twice and he can also U turn out of the way after it is set up.

for 3: kingdra has already been fixed to not be walled by blissey. unless you REALLY like toxicroak i would suggest replacing him with a kabutops. with SD waterfall, stone edge and x scissor not even physical walls can contain him. he has good physical defence and over 450 speed in rain. a plus to kabutops is that he weakens the physical walls which will help you sweep with gyarados in the end.

hope my suggestions help

EDIT: forgot that uxie was legend, but uxie only has BST of 580, placing him behind metagross, salamence, chomp etc. the whole legendary thing makes no sense as most legendaries have worse stats then the base 600 group

They did help. I used to use Tops, but I think I can give him another shot.

So who should I give Damp Rock too? Should I give Gyara something like Expert Belt, since I'm playing with Item Clause.

I was using Empoleon as my Sp.Wall, then I switched to Lanturn, then to Claydol. Should I go back to Empoleon?

As for claydol, I would replace it with a bulky (physical defensive) zapdos. First and foremost, it can rain dance. Secondly, its generally just an all around better pokemon than claydol. It can also spam thunder if you would like to abuse the rain some more. You're gonna want something with a damp rock, the rain just doesn't last long enough without it. Would make a decent starter. Thunder/Raindance/Roost, and then maybe HP Ice for good coverage or thunder wave to fuck over fast starters.

Just read you don't want legendaries....I hope thats because this is a wifi team and not some silly bias against them (zapdos is very much OU tier)

whatever

Your team looks good, but I have a suggestion to replace Claydol.

Ludicolo @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs:252atk, 252spd, 4HP
-Rain Dance
-Grass Knot
-Substitute
-Focus Punch

Ludicolo would be a great replacment. It's great movset and typing I think would mesh well with your team.

I heard how Ludi works great with Rain Dance teams, so I guess I could give it a try. Thanks, this is very helpful. Does he really need to know Substitute and Focus Puch? I'm guessing it's for Blissey.

sorry focus punch, and substitute was just suggestion. I acctually like your movset better. One thing though, waterfall over surf. I know what your thinking, but it has a 20% chance of causing flinch. I don't know just a suggestion.

didnt mean claydol was bad, its just not good on a rain dance team, and garchomp is hard to counter because it can SD on the switch and fire fang, outrage/dragon claw, and EQ hit everything for neutral

On which pokemon?

I know, but this team has taken down Garchomp before, so I'm not really concerned with it. But thanks anyways.

Well... If a poke have Electric/Grass attack (Deoxys-S With TBolt/IceBeam/GrassKnot/SuperPower as the one i use) you are a goner... kabutops and swampert fall to grass knot, while Starmie and Gyarados fall to Tbolt ( but starmie dont like gras attacks too)
Then, a Yache chomp can easily bring kingdra down, and ludicolo isnt the biggest threat someone will ever face...i Suggest to change Swift Swim to Rain Dish in Ludicolo, since it will give him another Letftovers...

If you had read what I posted, I'm not worried about Deoxys because I'm not battling Legends or Ubers.

I already know Swampert and Tops are weak to Grass Knot, same to Starmie and Dos with Thunderbolt. Ludi isn't even supposed an Atker, just a Sp.Wall. I might consider changing Swift Swim to Rain Dish, not to mean or anthing, but other than that, you're just telling me what I already know.
